I guess the 8 VRM thing was an over-engineering thing since they designed the system to run at up to 1kW, or 250W per board. The VRMs are $25 a pop, so 8 of them would cost $200, that's per-board. $1,000 on VRMs just in a Jupiter. Vs. $500 for a Jupiter with 4VRMs.

On the other hand, the VRMs can get hot on their own.  If anyone ever figures out how to overclock these, the 8VRM units might have more potential.

SOME peoples 4 VRM boards, I'm not convinced its a VRM quantity issue, I think its just some people had bad luck in their miner hardware problems.

My Jupiter had 0.91 on it when it arrived and I ran it on every version of the firmware with little to no change in heat or performance.

These are custom built systems, there were bound to be some production issues for some machines. I think in the early days it was luck of the draw and they have now got much better and ironed out many of the early production issues so that the devices coming off the line now are much less likely to have problems.

it mattered in the early days before firmware .95/96 came out... 4VRM boards were running very hot due to high voltage to the VRMs and it led to some damages

if you have a miner with 4 VRMs and only ever used .95/96 you should not have any worry about the 'old days'

Nothing that I can tell, mines got 4 and hashes at 555Ghs day in day out.

Some people think it makes a difference but I don't think it does.
