You can easily chargeback, so why would anyone trust you? $500, is a lot.. Try virwox or a diferent payment method..
first see his trust score brother he has some DT members trust too so i think he is trusted but yes i accept that 500$ is a big amount and he is not trusted enough enough to deal of 500$ but in my opinion we can start from little amounts and give him a try

Why is it that when a Full Member and above start selling something no one responds and when a newbie starts a thread there are 20 Pms and so many responses on the thread within the first 5 minutes?

I guess this is all about signature campaigns, trust stuffs and willingness to try something new .
You would get to know when you have sort of experience .

... and they also know that some that charge a markup to newbies will not work on senior members...
full members, maybe but not likely to senior members.
Newbie are usually desperate looking for a trade because they don't have any trading history so no one will trust them.
Atleast seniors that do have something to leverage with when a deal is in the process of going through.

Answers:

1. The assumption is that a newbie is easier to scam and
2. It follows from answer 1 that full members are intelligent enough to deduce when or if they are being scammed/conned
3. Another evidence-supported assumption is that newbies responding to and vouching for each other on the same thread are highly likely to be each other's alts.
