I have a raspberry Pi and find them great little mini-computers.
That is all they are really, a tiny computer, but they have a specialised processor (ARM), which does require a slightly different version of . So generally if you can do it on linux, you can do it on a raspberry pi, it might just be slower in some cases.
Saying that, it is still capable of a lot, like HD movies (which I have done).

I have recently been using mine as a Movie Center with slaxbmc as the software (Slackware OS + XBMC)

The instructions are really easy to follow, so you don't have to be a coder to understand it.

Though most people will probably prefer a debian based one, like Raspbian, as it allows a more familiar feel and code base.
Which is what I'll likely do when I get another to help control my BTC miners.

I know some on here have constructed more than 1 interesting BTC device with their Raspberry Pi.
They might of provided their software open source if you do a search.

Learn how to code in one programming language first. If you don't enjoy learning how to code, then buying the Pi's will be useless.

Very true. I mean I can still cancel the order, however I figure worst case scenario I'm pretty good with hardware and clueless with software. If I can get a nice crypto stat ticker program loaded on there, I'm confident I can assemble it

Anyways, You should learn how to code and such on a regular PC first. After that, it'll be clear.

I pretty much clicked everything amazon had to offer... Several Raspberry Pi B's, Expansion chips, Touch screen monitors, battery packs, motion sensors, cameras... I can't even remember everything I bought.

Started out just wanting a nifty little Crypto Ticker, or some sort of statistic/mining monitor after I saw some very nice topics on this forum. But with all the crap I bought, the possibilities seem endless. I'd love to take it steps further then BTC and LTC. I'd love to have a coinbase.com type of stats on there, mining difficulties, price adjustments, hell whatever I can possibility fathom.

I hear you can code these things in like 10 different languages, and that it's relatively quite easy (compared to say, coding an iPhone app, though I'm probably naive saying that as I'm as code noob as it gets). If anyone could help me either figure out how to put some ideas to reality, or simply has the skill and creativity to throw your idea in the mix, I'd happily pay for it in coin, or even send you a physical unit of whatever we make once it's completed

Or even any other cool ideas outside of the standard crypto ticker/stat area. I've got screens ranging from 4" touch screen LCD's, and those little 16 character 'nokia' type screens. Half of the shit I don't even know what it does, I got a little click happy I'll admit
