Just finished a farm with a similar budget. Where are you sourcing cards from? That is going to be one of your biggest issues if you want to be cost effective. Would be happy to send you pics and answer any questions if you shoot a PM but I would start by doing a few things -

1. Secure a relationship with a card distributor and get a line of credit established with them
2. Figure out room dimensions and what kind of cooling considerations will have to be taken into account
3. Figure out power. Does the space have 3 phase available to it? How many amps?
4. Figure out who will be managing it. Your friend doesn't want to hodl - does that mean he doesn't follow crypto? Profitability is going to be drastically reduced in this market unless mining is done intelligently.
5. Who is going to build the farm? There are a lot of things that come along with the construction of a $50K build that aren't issues when you're building one or two rigs in your garage.

Depending on the amount of space available, you may want to go for more cheaper cards, or less more powerful cards. Personally, I prefer having as high of hash density as possible so that I can use fewer 6-8 card rigs total. 1080 TI are great for this, but there are many opinions on this.

Hope this helps!!

I can suggest you the best mining rig you can build: Grin

1x Asus Mining Expert MOBO or any motherboard what support 12-13 gpu - 180-400$
1x Cpu/mem/Hard drive - 250$
13x nvidia Titan V - 13x3000$ = 39000$
2x evga 1600T2 psu 2x 500$ - 2x 750 = 1000-1500$
13 powered risers - 125$
Frame for your build - 100$

This rig after proper fine tune going to draw around 2100-2200 watts at the wall , with current driver current max hash speed on ETH

The best scenario : you can build this rig from 40655$ + shipping , taxes Smiley
The worst scenario : the build cost you : 41375$ + shipping , taxes Smiley

I hope all this information helped you a lot Smiley

Total ETH hashrate with that build after proper fine tune :
- Each Titan V can hash around 80MH/s  13x80=1040MH/s

With current ETH difficulty , ETH/USD exchange rate its going to take 19-20 months to hit you ROI ...
If eth / btc price is going back or close where it was in december then your roi would be around 10-12 months ...

You can add additional AMD or nVidia mining cards,(up to a total of 19-21 cards) to this rig if you are using ASUS B250 mining Expert board ..

Maybe just buy a proof-of-stake coin and stake it using your computer, just make sure it turned on 24/7 to staking.

I'm in the same boat OP...

I was thinking about getting all S9's but now I'm leaning towards building a litecoin farm with 40 L3+s.

I'm trying to confirm how much litecoin the L3+s are producing per day but I think the profits are about the same...

an absolute monster.

if you really have 50k and few power I have good things for you to buy.

Some from real companies with real warranties. I could show you how to order from hp.com  some very good rigs.

Thanks for the video that was informative. I would definitely be interested in hearing your recommendations from hp.

I would start by paying about 1k and finding a consultant. 49k + a consultant will give you a much higher ROI than 50k and a bunch of people in a forum talking crap.

Any experiences or testimonials for consultants in pursuit of this path? I have never worked with consultants before.

Where are you located?

The mining would be located in US East - if that is a sufficiently specific answer to your question  Cool

Regarding motherboard and CPU, the Octominer B8PLUS motherboard with integrated CPU is probably the best value and is very reliable.

This seems like it could be promising, and I will investigate this product before giving it a test run.

Thanks for the conversation everyone!

You never sent me a pm

the hp rigs are gone sold out

With no electricity cost, maybe some old hardware?

AMD R9, old Bitmain Antminers?

I would recommend to buy you 9-10 farms for 8 video cards rx580 (depending on the cost of iron). I understand you also have electricity free, then generally beauty). Currently 130-160 USD per day)

If you were going to spend 50k on mining hardware, what would you spent it on and why? Power costs are zero.

A friend of mine is not interested in hodling, but mining draws his interest and I would like to help inform his decision making process.

It would be better t owait in your way, because now prises on hardware is to expansive. For example, i will wait till the middle of spring and than will see. If you want to buy now, than i can recomand Radeon 570/ Geforce 1070 50/50%.

Even with 0 energy cost I suggest you buy altcoins instead of mining them. Earnings are terrible atm. Sad

I would find a professional miner with a great deal of experience, look at his track record and if he or she is competent then pay that person a small fee to advise you on the best manner of operation. Don't rush in and regret it.

I would start buy learning where the dollar sign goes.
I would start buy providing comments that offer some value to the question being asked or simply not speaking in the first place. Unfortunately, I can only speak for myself.
