There is no way you can exchange that money now. The government has passed an ordinance way back in December and according to it, 31st December was the cutoff time for exchange. Indians staying abroad can exchange till 31st June, but the procedure is that they have to disclose the amount of old currency they are carrying at the customs on arrival, who will give them a paper, which has to be provided to the RBI and then exchanged.
So now, you have to somehow send the cash abroad, the NRI has to bring it and disclose at the customs, get the paper and then approach the RBI fr exchange.

Holding old notes is a punishable crime as per the ordinance passed by central government.

Op must be very careful in taking any random advice even if it was meant to be a joke

Standing on the footboard of rails and trains is also an act punishable under the purview of the Indian penal code.

what is the use of buying old and useless notes ?

Same use as replying back with one liner nonconstructive posts on a new account. That is, it pays in the future.

I believe you can exchange it at RBI
Go to them with proper proof of withdrawl of your 50k. It's your money in the end and 50k is a good amount- hell any amount needs to be changed.
Many people have forgot their money or found it stashed away.
give it a try
I think it is black money that is the only reason I could think up for him afraid to go to bank and get it changed to new notes.
Op you are not required to disclose anything because 50k is well within limit.
i already said, i kept it somewhere and forgot. If it would be a black money, i won't have visited bank.

If you think you can, i can give you bank statement and notes, just make exchange and take whatever commission you want.
Sorry for my previous post but why dont you changed them when there was a allowed time to change?.
Anyway I have one of my relative based in foreign and he keep sending money to India. But he is not NRI,can he be of any help?

bro .. I made a contact with them, even told them that i've a proper proof of withdrawl of money but they still refused. I also contacted a bank manager, he too told that no one other than NRI could help. Now, only an NRI could help me or any indian who was in foreign at the time of demonetization. Sad
I even tried with a foreigner, but why he be messing himself for a low amount of 50,000rs.
Yes, i know 50,000 inr is a damm good amount for any indian, let's see what will happen to them.

Damn!

That suck
I don't think why a NRI would do that for you and it's rather hard to find who was away for all that time

Good luck

Hello friends.. sadly i found my bunch of 500rs of old currency worth 50,000rs. But i know its too late, 31st december is over. I want to exchange it for new one. I am also ready to give some part of my money to the exchanger. I think our respectable prime minister has also given a date for 31st march 2017.

I am also ready to exchange it for bitcoins.

Please someone help me in this regards

Actually here are only two option of exchange your old currency with new note .
First option is to hire a person who remain in the foreign country and then exchange your currency with the name of that people if he is agree .
Second option is to contact RBI directly and give the proof that how does you got this 50k INR , If you will get success to do the best honestly  then you will be able to exchange your old currency legally .
i contacted them. They strictly told that its only for RBI.

The first option is good, but unfortunately, i don't know any NRI. Sad

So the very last option which is left with you is to give all your friends and relatives 1 note each as a souvenir of old note which was once used in India. Unfortunately now you do not have any option left.  Embarrassed

Its a piece of paper now. You should be more aware and careful when it comes to money. Better hold it like this in coming 100-200 years old currency will be rare and then you can make lots of money out of it.

Don't worry, as suggested by many members you can still exchange your old notes from RBI counter. I am sharing some links regarding this matter, please go through it

* RBI allows NRIs to exchange old Rs 500, Rs 1000 banknotes up to June 2017.

* Exchange of old Rs 500, Rs 1,000 notes to continue only at RBI counters.

* NRIs Can Exchange Old Rs 500 And Rs 1,000 Notes at RBI Offices Till June 30.

I going psychically is not possible for you then contact your friends, relative to do it for you because there won't be any chance if you miss this new dealdline.
yes.. but thats for indian residents who were abroad from 9th november to 31st december. So, thats not possible.

You can Also checkout this link.

I don't have any friends, relatives abroad who can do such task. And i really want to exchange my notes. I wish this facility should be for normal residents too.  Cry

Normal citizens were given 50 days to change any old currency notes with them so I don't think this government will entertain any petition to again allow normal citizens to change their old notes. The only option is finding someone from abroad to change the notes for you (probably you can ask on some online forums in exchange for some commission).

Try and get in contact with RBI guys at RBI counter.
Explain them your situation and  they might just change it for you is you aren't doing anything fishy.
