I remember when I was watching the livefeed shortly before Gox collapsed before they were forced to leave so they could get the official protest license and it made me think at least a few individuals went their to protest in person even if it was in vain and did something.

Also remember some of the community worrying about that but in retrospect it did count in my opinion.

How did I not see this before?

One protester w/ that much media...

Those aren't media.  It's just Japanese people who've never seen a bearded red-head before taking pictures for their instagram feeds.
Well Chuck Norris is swimming across the pacific to show them something they won't soon forget.

The only people who win in the process are the attorneys. The only thing the little people will get out of this is perhaps some knowledge of how Mark scammed us.

That's just one of us... Imagine what could we do all together...  We've got spartan DNA  Tongue

Now - the next epic thing would be if someone somehow got hold of Mark and started live streaming. Torturing him by holding frappucinos in front of him with a sucking straw, but every time he was about to take a sip, it got removed from his face. Camera zooming in on his discontent face. Would become released when truth about missing coins and USD were told.

Would be a world instant hit. Bitcoin would be on the tongue of everyone in the entire world. Finally, world domination for Mark! :p

Yes, that's true. There was the US branch, a subsidiary. The one with the 5m$-something seized from a state agency.

Is it an American business? I was thinking it only had a subsidiary in US...

It is registered in Japan, but they did do quite a bit of US transactions so I'm thinking they registered in the US as well?

So basically MtGox is being sued in Canada and UK?

How does winning in one of those countries gets you anything if MtGox was a Japanese business?

It's an American business headquartered in Japan. I'm sure Japan and the USA would both cooperate with a lawsuit in Canada.

This will still take years, but progress is being made.

It doesn't.  Some people just like to be able to say they are going to "do something" even if the rational course of action is to wait for the liquidator's report.

The Canadian action also names Mizuho Bank on the grounds that the Japanese financial institution held an account with non-bitcoin currency that was transferred from the personal bank accounts of users to the Mt. Gox exchange.

This is a little interesting.  It's likely where Gox was storing the cash deposits.  If this was fraud, as opposed to a genuine theft, it could be revealed here.  Though if it was fraud, you would have to be a complete moron to try to steal the cash along with the bitcoins.
