I had something similar happen... The plastic cover on the fan wire unglued and it started hitting the fan making an awful smell.


I took the card apart re-glued the wires and put some oil in the fan.. It's working fine to this day.

It happened the instant I powere the motherboard on...It had been off for a while.

Rearanged a few GPU this evening...heard a loud pop and saw a flash...smells like grinded metal...i think one of my cards is toast...

look's like the card overheated
