i have h81 pro btc with 6x480, all rxs are connected via x1 usb powered risers. rig works fine, the only issue is that mobo wont start until i plug monitor into the x16 slot card (still x1 connected actually). i dont know, what the heck is that but monitor is always here, so i dont really mind about that.

will a 1000 watt psu like the EVGA supernova be enough for 5* 480 rig?

How about 6* 470?

It is enough if you do not overclock.

5*470 + 1*480 - flashed memory stripe, downvolted to 900 mv, at 1150 Mhz cpu frequency, 2000Mhz memory frequency -
use 920 W with motherboard (90W) with display turned off. when display on +20W.
so it is very close to 1000 W.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/80_Plus
if your psu is platinum - you can load it to 900 W.

but it is strongly recommended to have 1500 W psu.

Hi,

I am trying to setup 6x RX480 + ASROCK H81 PRO BTC, using a 1000PSW 80 PLUS GOLD RATED and Windows 10 Professional, but unfortunately we are only able to setup at most 5 cards.

The moment we install the 6th card, we get a Windows BSOD.

Anyone face similar issue before? Or are we better off using EthOS?

Thanks.

Regards,
    EtherNOOB

You need to install the graphics card one by one. Make sure in the BIOS, use Gen 1.

strong chance  the psu is too weak.

how many risers are you using   5?

how do you hook the risers up to the psu?

sata cables?
four pin molex?

what is the exact make and model of the psu?

here is a good quality   1000 watt evga g2 psu

lots of sata and molex connections good  right?

but max watts for the sata and molex  at the lower volts is 120
and the mobo will use some of those watts for usb jacks etc

Hello Wink

I have 5 gpu rx480 with motherboard asrock btc.

I plugged 4 card on pci-1 with riser xsource (powered)

It works very well.

Waiting to receive my 5th riser, I wanted to connect my 5th gpu directly on the pci-16 of the motherboard.

But that if is not recognized by wattman or claymore. Roll Eyes Huh

You have an idea why my gpu is not detected?

thank you in advance

At some Asrock MBs pci-e x16 must be connected with pci-e x16 raser, not with pci-e x1
it can be powered or not - no diff, a cheap one will be ok

edit:
you can check even without a riser - just put a GPU in PCI-E x16 directly
if problem will be solved, so - use x16 to x16 riser to connect
