I have a 580 8GB on the way that will be added to 5x 480 8GB.. will update the thread with findings. Like I said, I'm mainly concerned about not being able to change voltages.

Hey iamnoob, yes that is the tweak I was speaking of. After copying the files from 16.x to 17.x are you able to change voltages or no? Just wanting confirmation.

Also, any idea if this is a 580 issue, or just a 480+580 issue? Does a full 580 rig have the problem?

That is the the way other folks say it works for 6+ 5XX cards:

Was able to get 6 x RX-500 series running on windows 10 x64.
1. use DDU to clean the PC from any previous drivers.
2. Disable 4G decoding so you can log into windows (only  for Z170,H170, etc.)
3. Extract older driver for RX 400 series in Drive C: (I use 16.9.2 )
4. Extract driver for RX 500 series in Drive C: (I use 17.4.3)
5. Copy and replace all content from "C:\AMD\Non-WHQL-Win10-64Bit-Radeon-Software-Crimson-16.9.2-Sep21\Packages\Drivers\Display\WT6A_INF\B307117"  to "C:\AMD\WHQL-Win7-64Bit-Radeon-Software-Crimson-ReLive-17.4.3-Apr17\Packages\Drivers\Display\W76A_INF\B313057" (Basically you copy the old driver over the new)
6. Install the VGA cards manually from Device manager in Windows pointing path to the new driver 17.4.3 in this case.
7. Reboot and enable 4G Decoding in Bios
8. Enjoy if it works for you.
You can try with different driver versions if they work for you. I`m happy whit the 16.9.2 for the moment but any driver that works whit 6 and more RX 400 series GPUs should work
Tested on 8 different rigs whit Asus Prime Z270-P and H270 Motherbod

I will be mixing 1 x RX 470 and 5 x RX 570 this weekend on Asus Z270-P.

Let see how it goes.

I have a rig with 480s and 580s. I use 17.5.1 mutated driver. You have to copy some files from 16.9.2 into the 17.5.1 folder before installing. There are instructions here. Do a search for RX 580 7 GPU rig.

480s are drying up and I have a rig that needs more cards.

I was curious if anyone was having any issues with mixing the rebranded 580s with 480s on any systems. I read a thread (few weeks old) that said people were having issues with driver compatibility and had to tweak drivers to make the 580s work, which left them where they would run but couldn't adjust voltages.

Currently using 16.12.2 with 5x 480 8GB on an MSI Z170A SLI Plus.

Thx!
