Be sure the card will not cover any connector, especially the power switch, or you will end up like me turning on the pc using WOL from an iPhone  Cheesy

Well if he plans on using this for other means, then go for the spec of the card, PCI-E 2.1 is 'better' but really is just a transitional technology, you will see no performance difference between the two.

hi miners

a friend is about to build himself a mining rig.

he wants to use a 6990 card with it.

what is important to look for in a motherboard to use with this 6990 card?

for example pcie 2.1 ? or is pcie 2.0 just as good?

he doesnt want a minimalistic setup,
no,
he wants to use the system for 3d-modelling and rendering, and when he doesnt work he wants to let this machine mine.

so the motherboard should well be great and futureproof for a desktop machine too not only mining.

thanks for any inputs and hints!!
