^^ Hey there!

Yeah miningdude from the litecoin forums said he made the guide. I was talking to him and he suggested the guide. I was trying to help him out and use his ref links but the vapor-x's sold out on amazon. I sourced 6 last night so they are in route but the amazon comments that stood out went like this:

-->> Amazon comments below:

"I've already had to RMA the board once, because at some point the USB controller apparently shorted."

"The RMA took weeks, leaving me unable to both be productive and have some fun at home during the summer. And guess what? It just happened again."

"Exact same thing just happened to me after 3 months of reliable use. KABOOM no smell no crash just all the USBs stopped working. Calling for RMA tomorrow and hoping I get one that lasts for a little while geez. "

"Quality issues. Last week I did an RMA/return of my second MSI Z77A-GD65. First one was DOA. Second one lasted 5 months and then died. It wouldn't POST. My guess was a memory controller issue."

"I tried 2 of these boards and they both would not work."
/end amazon comments
--------------

I saw this board online alot cheaper than the $228 amazon has it for but i think its a dud. I hope its not! Considering you just ordered.. Im right behind tho so im trying to figure out what exactly is the requirement that makes this board 6 miner friendly.

Looks like 3 -->   1x pcie and   3 --->  16x pcie slots on a board that supports PCIE 3.0?
Im not sure how the Ivy Bridge chips and the last pcie slot come into play!

What are you using for power supply? I was thinking of going 1300w EVGA supernova and another power supply like 850w but i wasnt feeling the Lepa 1600w on the guide..

Whats your take?

Hey folks.. i was putting together a 6x Radeon R9 280x rig with some saphire vapor-x's and i was reading about the MSI-Z77A-GD65 and a cheap ivy bridge celeron combo.

I was going to go with that board then i read the amazon reviews and now im thinking twice!

  Can anyone recommend a mother board for 6x AMD R9 280x setup.

Not sure of the PCIE requirement to run 6 280x's on one system. PCIE 3.0? I was told to use ivy bridge celeron G1620 to go the cheap route for a chip.

Any recommendations on a motherboard?
