Still not clear on why you can't simply recover the email account first.  Would be much easier.  Unless you never had it to begin with.  This question has been asked several times already with no precise answer.

although they don't give it out normally, they will if law enforcement are involved

plus if you are american then you have an ace card as I doubt they will want their cover blown

look, bottomline they are not on the dark web, they founf silkroad anyway
btc-e owners will not be hard to find for police if it comes to that
from what you said, it is your property.
lawyers are very expensive, then you have to find one that actually knows anything about this area
this will be hard

I hope they can help you out before it comes to this, lets hope they havent spent it already!

If they don't give you your money back go find a lawyer to take your case. You could easily sue (assuming your story is all valid) and get your money back, lawyers fees, and punitive/compensatory damages as well. It's definitely worth looking into.

Definitely keep an eye on that address to see if your coins mysteriously move!  At present you've given indications the coins cannot be recovered by you to them and an insider just may help himself to them.

Not sure if they've been moved, but they have blocked the account because according to their rules they do it so after a period of 2 inactive years.

Sorry to hear this kind of mess your in. But have you tried to contact your email provider that if they can try contacting BTC-e in your behalf and to show that it is you who is the owner of that old  email address and provide some proofs? Maybe this could help.

I think he has a better chance of recovering old email then fighting with BTC-e.  If you read many people talk about them being slow or hard to deal with on issues (some do post great comments).   But I would use lesson to others to not keep lots in BTC-e.

If you cannot get old email, then I think Dogies suggestion of lawyer is good idea.  With it being international it might be a little pricey (i'm assuming you are not in russia OP).  But with so much at stake it's worth a chunk to try to get it back.

Never leave your crypto on an exchange for extended periods of time. Even if it could go to 0 value in fiat terms.

If you don't hold the private key to your coins, you have no coins.



Altho they have the option to change the email, and I matched every aspect of their criteria. They simply refuse to change it, because obviously $70,000 is VERY welcome to them.

Most likely the money doesn't exist anymore, they probably took it for themselves.

Uhmmm...Hushmail is a disposable email address.
I had a few accounts years ago and as far as I remember, either emails would expire or the account would expire if not used in a few weeks. This is why I abandoned it.

Out of curiosity why don't you try to gain access to your old e-mail account?  If it was at an old job explain the situation and see if they'll help you by letting you use your old e-mail account for a few days to get the account transferred over.

If you had a gmail account, try registering that exact same account.  I've done this with mine that was very old.  And it worked.

Exactly. I've tried to recover my email but I always get the same reply. But if you guys check on the screenshots I posted regarding my conversation with BTC-E, you would know that I provided every single thing they asked of me. They even stated 'why do you want to change the email?', which they aknowledged the info wasn't wrong. Plus later on I told them to cross the IP I was using with registration and login (which, obviously, matched).

I also accepted their suggestion on providing my ID/password as a verification method (as I have my full name on the registrar), even tho I think they're a shady company and I don't know what they might use it for, it's still an option for me. I will provide them with a copy of it if necessary.

To sum it up, I have nothing to hide, and I'm available to talk with them again and provide what's necessary (again...). I can even meet them up, as my vacations are in Europe every year (not in Russia tho).

Man, relax. Someone's money could be at stake here and you think that spewing what you think email providers do is a good idea? Don't call names and don't make assumptions. You don't even know what service OP was using, besides, no one but btc-e can verify if his claims are valid. So far it doesn't look like they're putting great effort to look into recovering an account containing 70k USD.

Contact their support and tell them the reason why you need to regain access to your account.
I had a similar problem and contacted their support and got account restored few hours later without any problems with a reminder to log in once per two week period. The account came with same password and complete history.

Exactly. I think bitboy11 didn't even bother reading the whole story.
Also, most services which delete their base accounts after x weeks of non-usage are those "high security" ones, such as hushmail. And I'm quite certain that they wouldn't restore the account nor allow the creation of the same email address again, because such exact things could happen, but with a scammy intent.

Just judging the OP because of your (bitboy11) flawed logic doesn't make sense.

For obvious reasons, most such email providers won't allow an email address which already existed to be created again.
I already have recovered 1 or 2 years ago an unused email without a phone associated with it that was deleted and ofc i lost all my messages.
Forget how i did it exactly but I don't remember i contacted anyone.

Maybe this would need intervention with both your email provider and btc-e, the effectiveness is questionable but hiring a lawyer to help with the process should'd be that bad since so much is at stake.

I've already sent them everything regarding my account, including detailed transactions and the possibility for ID/passport verification, along with me holding the passport and a paper with "BTC-E" written in it.

I also sent them a screenshot verification of the account at the time with the transactions. I've literaly sent everything they asked, and more. And whiling to prove even more.

I would take legal action if they weren't a ghost company. Can anyone help me out?

Hello everyone,


Seems like the support administration has been refusing me to access and/or make alterations to my 2012 account based on unfundamental arguments.

On 2012, I purchased around 300 BTC for roughly ~$9 each ($2,700 investment). I remember that I was lurking around on the MMO-Casino-based BTC game Dragon's Tale, so I was new and fresh to the BTC world. So I invested a hefty amount just for gambling purposes.

Long-story short, I lost interest in BTCs all-together at the time and focused on my career as an asset manager.

But in July this year I was introduced to a now business partner who lightly talked about the BTC price journey - which for my surprise - reached over $1,000 not a long time ago. I instantly remembered the 300 BTC I let sit on BTC-E, which at one point were worth $300,000 yet I wasn't able to milk that juice due to ignorance. But I was still able to milk roughly $70,000, which isn't bad for a $2,700 investment.

I tried to recover my old email but failed to do so (the one associated with the BTC-E account). Also, keep in mind they lock your account if you haven't logged for a very long time, which didn't help my case. So I made a ticket. And that's when the nightmare began...

After I replied, they gave me a confusing message (asking me again for the same thing). So I assumed first message was just an auto-reply. No problem.

So all settled (I thought). I sent them information that I assumed was only shared internaly between 2 parties, BTC-E and me, hardly any chance for a third-party to know about it.

They asked me the reason (once again) as to why I want to change the email, so I replied with the same content.

After this one seems like all hell broke loose. On the next screenshot, they started typing in Russian (even tho I don't speak any russian). I could clearly see it was another person speaking other than the former support representative.

They're basicaly asking for the EXACT same thing I've sent them before, but this time in RUSSIAN.

At this point I thought to myself maybe they have different departments, and one of them is Front Office and the other Back Office, and seems like the Back Office guy doesn't speak english. I thought that to myself. So I'll send him all the info he's asking (again...).

And suddenly - without any kind of justification - they simply denied my request. Yes, they denied my request even tho I sent them ALL the details they asked regarding my account. But after a very diffult conversation, they said this.

Ok, they asked for my passport/ID. At this point I was thinking it's an exchanger, it's regular procedure. So I told them that's not a problem. But they quickly changed their stance, once again... Seems like anything I said and proved them was never enough. This seemed pointless at this time.

I'll leave you guys with your own conclusions. I provided more than enough evidence and more. As for myself, I lost a $2,700 investment-turned $70,000 to a bunch of ignorant scammers.
