normal gamers can't even find video cards for themselves.  Its getting crazy out there with mining.

You got the point there, in my country it is hard to find good graphics easily - I do think this is the case with other countries as well. Another use case is AI and deep learning but still main reason for buying graphics cards is mining of course. Whenever bitcoin reaches the new ATHs more people get an idea to start mining.

To be fairly honest 776million $ is not some huge number where I think bitmain alone made around 2billion!

This is the best and most safe way to earn money. As in times of gold rush - the most rich were producers of spades and wheelbarrows. I will not surprised if video card producers have supported interest to cryptocurrency.

It's a figure that's even beyond the predictions. The game market will hit the spot as the gamers can't find graphics cards. The miners loosened one's purse strings to get a large share of the resulting cake.

Thanks for the informations provided mate! It's really a huge number of GPU's and a real big money invested in Graphics cards by miners! These devices will use a lot of power!
That's the bad part of crypto, we should look for a solution!

these numbers look incorrect. Nvidia alone in 2016 sold GPUs for more than 1 billion dollars. ut mining boomed only last year. and average price would be 258$, but you know how expensive GPUs are now.
Yeah Nvidia has sold a lot more than AMDs,GPU was designed for qualit gaming but the cryptocurrencies has dominated the gaming industry, that is why most of the GPUs today arent that cheap than before,a lot of people are buying bulks of GPUs for their mining rig like in my country the demand is very high because a lot of people are joining our community.
