I prefer to lock the card in its specs as set by the manufacturer. For the asus card I use these extra options for cgminer

Code:
 --auto-fan --gpu-engine 800 --gpu-memclock 1250 --temp-target 64C

The ASUS is clocked a bit slower (800Mhz) than the saffire, but I get a decent 425Mhp/s at intensity 9 without the card breaking a sweat. That and I can still sell the card on the very active second hand market 6 months down the line without feeling bad.

I think there's no difference between different vendors of HD 7950. All of them use standard PCB board. The main difference is in cooling system and (maybe) in BIOS.

Thank you guys!

For the 7950 card, what are good (recommended) values for core and memory clock as there also seems to be quite some difference?
I do mean the stock clocks, not the ones you have already customized.

I love the heatsinks on the ASUS one.

Just look at the blades on that puppy.

With a target temp of 62 in cgminer, the fan is always at 0% (about 1700 rpm). Make a big differnce if you rig is in your office where you have to work and game too (I work from home).

It seems that are lots of different ATI HD 7950 models out there.
Which are the criteria to look out for when buying a 7950 suitable for BTC and LTC mining?

I got some MSI recently. They seem good, they get hot though.
