I've had issues with my 7970 crashing while gaming. Crashing while mining bitcoin and litecoin. I have replaced the video card once already, and it was at stock clock. Seems to me that the 7970s can be extremely unstable. I am hoping that a driver update will help stability.

and0r, do you know what you are talking about at all or do you just repeat stuff other people wrote but that you don't understand?

ugh, try getting a power supply that can actually handle your card under full load
stop being a scrub please

if gpu mining causes the screen to not refresh for 3 hours, then I guess you're correct.

Thanks for your condescending but incorrect assessment of my situation

*roll eyes*

scrypt miners usually tax your GPU at 1000000%%%%
theres always a huge output lag or "freeze" of what you see on screen. this is normal, your computer is not crashing. stop freaking like a scrub
its only your GPU doing this, because its working very hard. although things might seem frozen, your computer is actually running fine.
try playing a song or something, you'll see that it works fine with no pauses

Thats fine, I'm only using the 7970 to mine.  I was just testing things out on the other.

So does it work now ?

No I have not overclocked either of the GPUs. I have overclocked my CPU, but its temp stays below 75C.  The GTX stays below 83C and the ATI stays below 77C

Wait, you have both HD7970 and GTX680 installed in your rig ? If yes, then I told you settings for just single 7970 to be working (btw try it) what about both GPUs at the same time I don't really know and don't have such experience.

Reaper settings

litecoin.conf
host mine.pool-x.eu/
port 8080
user magnificat_mafia.2
pass blah

protocol litecoin

worksize 256
aggression 18
threads_per_gpu 1
sharethreads 18
lookup_gap 2
gpu_thread_concurrency 20992
device 1

reaper.conf
kernel reaper.cl
save_binaries yes
enable_graceful_shutdown no
long_polling yes

platform 1
device 0

mine litecoin

for litecoin.conf try adding "vectors 1" after worksize, then  change "sharethreads" to 32 then "gpu_thread_concurrency" to 24576 then remove device 1

for reaper.conf remove platform 1 and just leave device 0. See how this works.

And you didn't tell me, have you overclocked or anything ?

Okay, which settings did you put in reaper.conf and litecoin.conf inside reaper folder ?

Also take a look at this little java helper by vorksholk https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/easyltc-the-easiest-litecoin-guiminer-162708 if you decide to take a look don't forget to take a look at the video he made (the link is in there)

I had tried using both reaper and cgminer on my ATI, and they both caused a crash.  I only tried cgminer on the gtx680.

Hmm...

I just tried to mine litecoin on my GTX680, and that cause a total system freeze as well.  I can mine the litecoins fine on cpu, just not on either of my GPUs.

I just got a new 7970 for mining litecoins, but every time I mine them, the computer totally freezes after 15-30 mins, and I have to do a hard reboot.  It does not crash when mining bitcoins.  Could this be because the ram is bad?
