I'd be perfectly happy if it just stayed in the 8000s rest of this month and didn't fall back to 7000s.

I am afraid of this pump and then later on will break out, and then will dump lower than 7k. However I do want as well that this pump may grown even further. Well, anyway, as of today we couldn't yet go there still at 8k but for now let us just hope that this price may last long like what did happened in past few weeks. Stable, so doesn't have much worries.

Looks like we are going to $9k next week Smiley

The scenario is very much open, we could or we could not, but eventually, it will reach the $9000 mark I just want to rule out the week or the month, although there is a good analysis that could back up the price it still depends on the news that are coming our way, I come to believe that history sometimes repeats itself, but what's happening around us will have impact on the market, the price and our community, we just hope all the news that is coming our way will favor us.
These volatility does really give us out chances on making money. We cant just expect for btc price on continous rise yet we have seen that it did pullback to 7700 as far as i remember and luckily i do able to purchase or put up position for that and now the price is clinging up again on 8k mark and might possibly continue to 8500 but who knows on when we do reach 9k yet 1k usd isnt really that far but i do expect that it would take for
more months as we approaching on halving event. For now its better to use up these movements to take on advantage on making out some money.

I doubt that.

$8k had been getting difficult to reach.
Yeah there might be a little pump which had happened but it didn't stay much longer.
Looks like something or someone is dumping to buy cheap before the halving.
FOMOs might be here but they are getting patient now. It looks like they have learned their lessons.
Bitcoin is still in an uptrend and yesterday's decline is just a correction in this market after the US president announced to the world that there would be no war between the US and Iran, I still believe. that this month we will definitely see bitcoin at $ 9000 and we need to wait patiently for it to happen. Halving is coming, and this news is sure to make the price of bitcoin go up quickly because there will be more newcomers interested in the market and investing in it like twice before.
But today bitcoin have downtrend after Trump announcement with Iran become their enemy country and not allowed for developing their nuclear technology, make bitcoin have lower price and gold keep down after last three days where bitcoin raise with higher price, now we are waiting with Iran respond about their war situation to make bitcoin have higher price.

I don't see any future to that prediction but we will see that in 2 to 3 weeks, although the price right now aren't that what we expect to happen and the hype is already over and the current news are no longer affects the price. and now for me it looks like we are going to see worst scenario, then now it is time to be prepared and wait for next movement of the price.

Give it a few more weeks, I expect a slow exit of the downward channel. But wouldn't be very much bothered by a fast pump up haha.
I really do not mind the market moving higher but i am not expecting to see a rally anytime soon, we have a few more months left for the halving and we need to have a huge investment coming in to see some kind of movement and right now we were not able to break the resistance at $8.4k and it might take a few months before we are able to break that resistance.

As far as I know there’s no big event currently happening so bitcoin prices won’t see a major upward movement in January, however I do hope we see more bull rallies going ahead in 2020. @Fatunad yes the Chinese president did say positive words relating to blockchain, but Bank of China spilled water on it and ended any short term hopes the market had from China relating to adoption of bitcoin.

Sources:

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/12/16/china-looks-to-become-blockchain-world-leader-with-xi-jinping-backing.html

Indeed no big even on the following weeks but I do not think China ended the short term hopes for the market and Bitcoin adoption.  China is just a single country, and the world have lots of then, even though China gave a strong opposition to Bitcoin, there are also other country who happily accept Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency.  News and articles are still being bullish regardless of China's action so I think there is still a possibility for Bitcoin to rally to $9k on the following weeks.

I'm also happy for price stay $8000 for the whole month than getting into the $9000 level only to go down, after a few days, it's been more like a see saw for the last two months I'd like to see a month where the price shows stability, but I guess it will only happen after the halving and not before it, it's the best time to watch the price than the last two years, I'm seeing more green than red.

Doesn’t seem possible now. Price of bitcoin is coming back slowly. Lets hope for some another big event,  not a war between countries but something like Chinese president giving a pro blockchain statement. Only that’s the possible way now for bitcoin to go upto 9k$.

Didn't the chinese president gave his positive statement about blockchain already and infact he's showing support and interested in it while they are on their way of making their very own token. Btc price is bound to break boundaries year by year. What we really need is the massive buying of crypto assets in the market so that the market capitalization will also increase.

There will be more buy order if the market keep doing a bearish trend since people will not get any confidence since they are afraid to lose their money if the market dumps. But if this upcoming halving will bring a perfect effect the same in year 2017 for sure we will get more buy orders for that matters.

The chance of it became thinner now. As you can see, the price is slowly decreasing again. It seems, many of you got along too much with the unexpected increase and didn't think of the other possibility. That's why I ain't confident with the recent rise because of this. If ever we'll be back at $7k, it's not bad at all, atleast we had a good run for few days in the beginning of the year. As long as the resistance in $7k is still, i'm fine with it. Before I think of btc touching $9k, I'd be more happy to see the support and strong resistance at $8k.

Just two day prior to the OP's posting, the price today suddenly went on a down ward spiral and < @7700. So obviously, it means that we are not going to $9k and could probably trade sideways again on the $7k-$7500 range. Of course everyone wanted to see the price going on $9k, but it seems that it is just a bull run (again?). And it just shows how volatile the market price is, how whales can manipulate, and how BOTS can easily sell/buy orders instantly affecting the price.

It may be true, but it is still waiting for correction from yesterday's price increase of $ 8400 .
Yesterday's price has broken the minor resistance, and there should be a determination whether it really is a break or just a false break.

I am sorry friend 9k$ is not possible next week rather 7k$ seems the next possible stop for bitcoin. We have coin halving the major event coming this year. Hopes are that bitcoin may go up with that. Other then that it’s a dry period for bitcoin ahead. The way market is going down you cant expect where it will stop.

The current price of bitcoin is around $ 7,700 more and there is a decline from the previous price, it seems very difficult to guess the current bitcoin movement and really test the patience and good expectations of bitcoin this year.
but that doesn't mean we feel pessimistic about bitcoin movements now and it's better to let bitcoin move as it is and believe that bitcoin will move well to reach the highest price at the right time, and bitcoin to reach a price of $ 8000 or $ 9000 is very easy because of bitcoin easily turn things around suddenly.

This is possible may reach or possible no because the price seems below $8k again. Bitcoin price cannot continue to $8k onwards. But of course, I would be one of those who truly wait to see the increase price of bitcoin. I also think some are catching this opportunity to buy before the pump will occur.

don't get too excited, right now the price is back down below $ 8k. a very good increase occurred at the beginning of the year, it was due to several factors. I also thought that the price would easily reach the level of $ 9k, it's just that right now I don't think so. however, the current level of education is quite high, so prices can reach $ 9k quickly, but it is difficult to maintain.

Looks like we are going to $9k next week Smiley

Looks like not because bitcoin has stop pumping, bitcoin now is trading below $8,000 today with 4% dropped in 24 hours so far.
As a result, the whole market is red right now - https://coinmarketcap.com/

it seems like the small FOMO does not push through.
The market needs to be adjusted before continuing to Fomo in the near future. The market is following many experts' predictions, and according to BTC chart analysis, the price of BTC needs to maintain the price of $ 8000 next week so we can continue to see growth in the few Next month, if BTC collapses from $ 8000 then Bitcoin is likely to go below $ 6000 again

The fomo will soon keep them buying eventually due to halving in few months. It may not lead to breakout for now but we'll get there. $9k is just few days more. The charts are telling the market can go up but also says it can also go down. If it goes $6k again, it a good price for those investors to come into btc before the halving.

Yay, I've been waiting for the $8,000 resitance to be broke. And this week has a positive ways going up. It will be great if it will slowly going up to $9k. At least small pumped was performed, that's  a good sign thought it went down to $7,900 again. There is a high chance of bull run again. Since we've been experiencing since december the stable price at $7k so bitcoin is ready for massive pump now.

this is very possible because when people start buying bitcoin again the bull run activate again; then the panic will decrease and prices to recover level of 3 month before when bitcoin tradable above 10k . the market of bitcoin like ride ; prices can rise to high level because end of manipulation

Price looks like it's behaving as it should be. Any time it goes up 15% or more in such a short burst, it's got to come down a bit. Hangover today and possibly tomorrow, but if the bulls like the weekends again, then we should be seeing a renewed push for $8500 even on Sat/Sunday.

Definitely on track for 9k next week, but that's where it gets messy for me. No man's land of super thin orderbooks. A flight to 10k won't mean much in that case!

Yes indeed, even though bitcoin is going to redeem the price of $ 8500 but it can't afford it and the price is back down a little now, but reaching $ 9000 is only a few hundred dollars more so for me it will be easy for bitcoin to redeem it.
Many investors are now only short-term to get its profits.
not as easy as you say, the price of bitcoin is not exactly easy with each increase and decrease.  it happened because of a process from either technical or fundamental.  it does look mathematically close from 8500$ -9000$ but if a technical or fundamental analysis does not give a positive signal to the increase I think it will still be difficult.  I think for this month it is quite below 9000$ first, the most important is the volume of trade has increased, because then for the next month I think it will be more volatile.
but usually bitcoin always has a surprise for everyone sometimes we also don't know why bitcoin prices go up and down, the price of $ 9k seems easy to reach as long as there is no bad news about it sometimes it all comes back to news about bitcoin, a lot of FOMO coming now and it comes out from what people predicted, no one knew about next week

I think I wrote nearly the exact same words in another post--but in any case, I agree with you 100%.

And it's funny how when we get a little bump, members start cranking out the bullish predictions like OP did.  I guess it did look like bitcoin was headed for $9k within a short time frame, but now that it dropped back below $8k things aren't looking as rosy.  Probably for the best, too, since if the price rises too high, too fast then it becomes unsustainable and is prone to crash.

Anyway, where bitcoin is at the moment is better than $6700 and I'll take it.  If it stays around $8k for a while, I have no problem with that whatsoever.
I think the price will consolidate again around $8000. If the price of the bitcoin rises again then there will be a big pullback that will happen. As long as there is no breakdown that will occur, I will not let go my bitcoin. I recently add a position when the price breakout. We should be aware that aftet the breakout there will be a role reversal where resistance became support and it is sign of strength.

The price had rally well above $8K since the beginning of this year gradually and steadily the price is climbing up on in fact it touches $8400 before correcting to $8000 after president Donald Trump press release, hopefully the price would resume it bullish run any moment from now.
I don't think that the reason of price pump is about the press release of Donald Trump, and i think its all about the whales that is controlling the market flows. And also they will depend on the trending topic if its right to make a move and change the price.

This is the reason on why we always need to check for the move of the price since it will really depend on the investors and if there is a global news that will affect the majority.

Why? You are not happy for the current growth where the bitcoins price is slowly climbing? Are you afraid of something or? Maybe you should see on what is happening around and the current war is giving a good impact to the price of crypto and maybe we can see it pumping for more an reach the 5 digit figures and there's a halving coming and this will be the major good indicator that we will not see any dump.
If you are referring about the conflict between the US and Iran it seems that both countries have decided they do not want to go to war after all, and that is the right decision, and if that is the reason for the increase in the price we saw then it makes sense the price is now decreasing.

Besides I get that most people want to see the market growing as fast as possible but we also need periods of stability that give us the chance to buy bitcoin for a good price for some time.

Not too fast imho yet the price had driven down to below 8k but somehow reaching another thousand dollar isnt really that far if we do base up on the current price movement happened on last 2 days where it do hit up 83--+ as far as i remember.Good thing for those people who bought below 7k price and that was an easy profits on shortest possible span of time.Due to this volatility activity at the moment it is really a good time to ride up on the waves to make short trades.Yes, its risky but very rewarding if you do able to get the right entry price and the take profit level.

before that, I saw a small decrease. as a form of correction. I think this will be more than $ 9,000. maybe the end of the month will reach $ 10k. wait and see. Bitcoin has left the bearish market. have a great start for bitcoin this year and next year.
Whenever there is growth in the price of bitcoin automatically there will be correction. Here too such a price correction has taken place. As expected there is growth from the very beginning of the year. This needs to continue, only then it is impossible to reach $9000+ value by the next week.

Maybe not next week but we are going to go there this year. It's an important level if we want to remain in a bullish setup for the halving. For now it really looks bullish, since the most important level was that 7.6k. Ity was not only a strong resistance since November, but also a level the bearish trendline that started in June was pointing to. Now we're above both the trendline and the resistance, which is probably the biggest bullish move since October but it can still end bearish like the move from October did in November...

It's possible based on some extreme price swings we have seen in the past.  But it could also be more measured and deliberate.  Remember, people have seen the price below 7k recently so they may not want to take a risk on buying too high.
But if the Fomo's continue those investors will go back and start chasing again the lowest value that they can get. This market rise are accompanied
by ongoing situations not only the incoming halving but also the tensions from the middle east. Wealthy people are looking for alternatives and aside
from precious metals, digital currency are also good for storing their assets.

This pony likes to buckaroo, just when you think the road is clear it wants to buck you off that easy ride and put you back in the bushes.   Price never runs straight, for whatever reason its very hard to be certain it'll keep going in any direction for long.

Its done well so far but I take it quite a bearish turn to reverse like it has today.

I was expecting a sharp pullback due to the guideline of alternation. Wave 2 was a sideways correction, so Wave 4 was expected to be a sharp correction. The market is recovering nicely off the 0.382 (a typical retracement for Wave 4) and we are roughly holding this linear channel so I think there is still more upside coming:

The price you just predicted is not certain because you can't actually use the current price momentum stance of the market to judge the next week market and the last time i checked this current market havent prove to be dump resistant.
Meanwhile, this is the best time where experience trade make quick profit cause the market is highly manipulated.

i dont think it is good to reach 9k that fast. i prefer to have a strong resistence point around 8k and stay just above this point for a few weeks. because sharp ups brings also weaker buy resistance below.

And that its why its taking a breath for now, the climb is just too steep. It might really have to stay at $8000-$8500 for a period of time before it goes up again. I could be wrong but it has to gain momentum before going up again. $9 next week seem happening too fast. While we btc rising fast, ETH and some altcoins are not following up.

Its done well so far but I take it quite a bearish turn to reverse like it has today.  8500 was the top prices for alot of October so we have resistance remembered in the price still now.
Lets see it go back to 7500 maybe and deal with that as a bottom price, build on that and then we'll get higher perhaps.   Could possibly take more then a week to do this though.

Do you see the situation of the market already? Price of bitcoin started to drop from $8,300 to $8,000, we might see a $7,800 tomorrow if this will continue. Wink
I don't know what makes bitcoin to pump like this but i guess the recent conflict between US and Iran is the main reason why pump the market.

I think it looks like it'll be harder to stay above 8k$ as BTC is retesting the support and 8500$ resistance is hard to break. Trump's statements are not aggressive but if Iran retaliates then we may see some escalation in the price.

I think the price of bitcoin will not rise to $ 9,000. Because it first needs to break the $ 8,500 barrier and by now the bitcoin price is already at $ 8,050 and if it returns to the $ 7,000 + price it will probably have difficulty raising it again.

Especially now that many investor securing thier profits.

It is a very healthy pull-back. I don't expect it to go much further down. Expect some side ways for a few days with an explosiv breakout of the falling wedge.

Yes indeed, even though bitcoin is going to redeem the price of $ 8500 but it can't afford it and the price is back down a little now, but reaching $ 9000 is only a few hundred dollars more so for me it will be easy for bitcoin to redeem it.
Many investors are now only short-term to get its profits.

with the way price jumped and the way that the media is currently hyping up everything and scaring people with the drama in middle east and tries to make a link, it wouldn't be surprising if the price had much faster rise. not to mention that the market has been waiting for a very long time for this rise to start in 2020 and all the money that has been waiting to jump back in, will FOMO buy back in and price could shoot up to $13k by next week.
yeah 9k is too low a guess. i am hoping to crack 10k next week

Very optimistic. It's funny how apetites grow every time when price starts to rise. If someone asked two or three weeks ago no one wouldn't even mention 9000$ or 10000$ as a possibility. And we also need to have in mind that the price might pull back so there is no guarantee for continuous growth.

Yeah people get way too excited as soon as the price goes up. As you say, even just a week ago people would be hoping for $8000 in the near future, now that its over 8000 suddenly they are talking about 9000 or 10,000 happening essentially immediately. A bit ridiculous. Whoever thinks that way hasn't been around long enough to know that such a quick pump is pretty much guaranteed to be followed by a dump. Not going to 9000 right now would be better for the market than going to 9000 right away.

More important is bitcoin price must stabilize at some specific value be it 7000 or 8000$. So other areas of bitcoin may be focused. The way bitcoin is going 9000$ seems to be next stop in 2 days. That's a typical wild run by bitcoin, not the first time tough.
Around $7800 - $8000 are the prices where it can stabilize. I just want to see it don't go lower than the price that we have right now but this is bitcoin and it's always unpredictable whether it will go bullish or bearish.

We might see some slow mo during the weekends and hopefully, you are right that we'll see $9k.

I'm fine with that but I don't think price would rise that easy, the rise was not abrupt so I am thinking slowly bitcoin price will rise but not $9K next week, that's too fast of a rise, and I'm afraid next move would be a dump as normally when there some kind of FOMO, whales do cash out easily.
[...]

why too fast? even within a week the price of bitcoin is able to touch 8000, so the possibility of 9000 next week is very possible, especially now that it has touched 8300. FOMO might also occur because of the war that is currently happening

It is actually too fast. Stadus is right, if this happen, there will be a tendency that whales will dump on it and pulling the price down. It is better if it establishes strong support at 8k before breaking 9K.

Exactly. Of course we all know Bitcoin is a roller coaster ride and will have large spikes and dumps this year, but if we are just coming out of this downtrend of the past 6 months then I'd rather see Bitcoin rise steadily and strongly out of it, rather than pump high and come back low again not showing much strength at any level. We had a major pump a few months ago and it fell back further than where it started!

The real fireworks likely will happen in 2021, for this year I'd be super happy with an average rise of 1000/month. That'd put Bitcoin on the brink of passing the ATH at the end of this year (very similar to 2016), making it ready to explode in 2021. We already got 1000 raise in January so if steadies itself and builds support in the 8000s for the rest of the month and moves to 9000s in february thats perfect to me.

as I wrote in my previous thread, in my technical analysis the resistance line actually didn't reach the price of $9,000 for this month.  but sometimes the price of bitcoin when experiencing bullish or bearish when it reaches a resistance or support point sometimes exceeds that line. so it doesn't have to be straight on that line.  and for this month maybe I will choose the price below $9000. And of course the point of resistance and support for the next month will be broader in the sense that the price will be at a higher Resistance line, as seen from now trading volume has increased

Potential Price of BTC / USD Bitcoin pairs Until January 31, 2020.
Key Point: 7122$

  • Resistence 3: 8469$
  • Resistance 2: 7954$
  • Resistance 1: 7636$

Key Point: 7122 $

  • Support 1: 6609$
  • Support 2: 6289$
  • Support 3: 5774$

CONCLUSION:
If BTC / USD trades above the key point then the highest potential price of Bitcoin until January 31, 2020 is 8469$
If BTC / USD trades below the key point then the lowest potential price of Bitcoin until January 31, 2020 is 5774$

No I'd be happy with 8000s because Bitcoin just had a $1000 rise. If it kept pumping that's a guarantee for a large pullback at some point soon. I'd like to see the market hold 8000s for a while and show that it has solid support at there before moving up further rather than continue pumping only to lead to a big dump. Also since I do some day trading, I guarantee if it pumped a bunch more I'd get a trade stuck near the top and then be trying to figure out if I should take a big loss selling on the dump or wait it out and wonder how long it will take for me to get out of that trade  Tongue

8000s january, 9000s february, 10,000s march would make me very happy

A lot of us hope so. Seeing as most of the price has been attributed to the recent tensions between Iran and US, we can assume that it's actually approaching a possible continuous highs cause recently, Iran just sent a dozen missiles to the US army camp or something similar. Imo though, It's going way too fast. Remember when we had a push to $9k last time then price dropped to $6.6k because it was pushed up way too fast? I was expecting the same development here but seemingly, its been 2 days and yet the push continues. Just hope it does though.

It could happen, anything could, but I doubt such theories. If we were going to test up to the 200 Day MA above $9K, I think it would take more than another week to build up that momentum personally. I don't think we're going to see the volatility of bullish (or bearish) moves like we did in early 2019 (+300%) as well as late last year to $10K level (40% pump), at least not in the first two quarters of the year. But hey, that's just my thinking. If the volatility were to return in a big way for the coming months, we'd be at ATH or sub $6K by the halving. Something that few people believe including myself.

Don't worry and fear, Bitcoin is going up in a positive way and it won't stop that easily. I personally believe that in the next 1-2 days the price of bitcoin may surpass $ 9,000 and it will reach 10,000 $ next week. It is difficult for us to see bitcoin below 7000 $ this year, currently bitcoin is affected by politics, and in the near future Bitcoin will be fomo from halving bitcoin.

Possibly it could go 9k this week. If it maintain bullish momentum then it could attract a lot of interest, but we really can’t pinpoint whats the cause of this rise dump is still inevitable, but I hope this rise is not temporary or short term.

Well anything can happen this week, it can either go up to $9k or more or it can stay within the $8k or $7k, we really can’t tell. The rise and fall of the bitcoin price is inevitable and we can’t really tell what if the specific reason of the movement so that is why we should be ready at all times of all possibilities and try our best to cope and go around it.

Little by little, the price of bitcoin will reach the 9000$ and we just need to be more patient. I'm now glad to see the rising price of bitcoin and in the last couple of weeks, and we all witness how bitcoin stable in the price of 7100$ to 7500$.
I'd be perfectly happy if it just stayed in the 8000s rest of this month and didn't fall back to 7000s.
I guess you will be happier if the price of bitcoin will pump up to 9000$ than being happy seeing the price in 8000$. I also do not want to fall back the price in 7000$ but still, we don't know what will gonna happen in the next couple of days.
