In spite of all the campaigns to end littering, littering still happens. A junior senator who vowed to not run for president ran for president and won even though he claimed there are over 50 states. And, how the heck did Trump become the Republic nominee for president?

How did so many people pre-order from BFL, then ordered again after being fucked the first time?

There's a current Pokemon Go thread about why it's so popular and most everybody is replying to the OP or simply the title not reading later posts about how its controlled by the NSA/CIA et al. with a seasoned Bitcoiner stating a case that's at the top of a Google search.

Some people go through the most horrible shit and still have a good life afterwards, because they decided they will not let the bad guys have the last word about their life.

I'm not sure street justice would have helped in that situation.

Obviously whoever did this to the child was abused himself.

So the only "somewhat" solution I see is to further spread the message that any child abuse is horrible.
Don't yell at your kids, don't hit them, don't put them in government schools, etc…

I still have (older) relatives who think it's perfectly OK to hit their kids "in certain situations"… and I just keep on reminding them how insane their mindset it.

You will never be able to remove sociopathy completely from society, but you can improve the situation and ostrazise people who spread sociopathy, especially bad parents who don't raise their kids the right way.
