Mining has now become a power intensive business. It's no longer enough to obtain the most powerful mining rig and let it hash away. You now have to consider the efficiency of the chips used. From 28nm just a couple of months ago, the nascent ASIC hashing industry has quickly moved to 20nm last month, and now products are being announced that utilize 16nm chips. Aside from the obvious size advantages, chips at finer process techs also means more efficiency, all other factors being equal. We are now at the stage in which, in addition to efficiency, you also now have to consider your power cost.

Our focus at Centerus has always been to lower hosting costs. We have been in the hosting business since February of this year. We now have over 200 kW of capacity, and all our sites are full. Most of our clients have been profitable.

Now I believe we have gained enough experience to build and manage the next site, our biggest by far. It is going to have a capacity of at least 1 megawatt. We have just purchased a few used power distribution cabinets. These cabinets are about 300 kVA each, and are equipped with 480V to 208V three-phase transformers specifically built to power switching PSUs. This big site will be available by middle to end of November. Our price for hosting in this new site is $99 per kilowatt-month, which includes most everything, except a few things that you can do yourself remotely, like upgrading firmware.

If you are planning to purchase or have purchased the latest mining rigs, the next thing you need is electrical power, and we will have plenty. However, even with this enormous capacity, it is very likely that we will run out. To ensure the availability of power for your mining rigs, you can reserve the necessary power with us. In order to reserve, you pre-pay us two month's worth of hosting fees. Half of the pre-paid fee is for the first month, and the other half for the last month of hosting. You can do this at our website, using the link on my signature below.
