I remember a drug was shipped to US and France to cure a couple of doctors infected with Ebola. It had mixed results. Is this the same one?

This experimental treatment mentioned in the OP dated back to 2010. The author must have went through a lot of digging to to find those specific sources. Here are some sources linked in the article.

I don't know if this could in any way be connected with the drugs being developed after the outbreak.

more africans on this earth, just what we need
Ebola-Chan is still alive and well.

There’s still a much work needed to turn the new Ebola treatment into an approved drug, but the prospect of a cure is suddenly very real, and the techniques used to create it are truly remarkable.

You missed the good part.

Ebola is one of the nastiest, most frightening viruses known to man. Its victims suffer fevers, muscle weakness, and other symptoms that progress to severe bleeding, both internal and external, that eventually causes them to bleed to death.
