I think I quite agree with the DYOR bit; because you can't give out what you don't have. Researching doesn't only give you what to contribute, it also adds to your store of knowledge. No one's an island of knowledge and as such, you need to better equip yourself so that not only do you benefit from the brilliant minds here, peeps can also benefit from you.

No offense — but that's a decent amount of unnecessary buzzwords. Bitcointalk is simply just a community where people just casually talk about Bitcoin/crypto/privacy stuff. I don't get why people take it too seriously as if it's some super professional platform.

Just don't spam, and write legibly; chances are, you'll be totally fine.
It's the money that can be made here that's changed the perception of many users. Instead of being a place where you can discuss about something you're invested in, a lot of users are now here because they want to make money, and might actually not have much of an interest in Bitcoin itself.

As a trade off of this; a lot of users now think that your posts always have to be of the upmost importance, and of top quality. Which, is somewhat nice. However, it's unrealistic to expect every post you churn out to be gold. Instead, users should be posting because they have something to add, whether that's right or wrong. Instead, of posting out of necessity.

It is no news as doing your own research can't be over emphasized anymore. One even without been told, isn't expected to believe everything they're told here as bad advice can still be gotten from here.
Another thing we newbies have to absorb is the fact that they must be criticized, as such be ready to accept criticism and also be able to learn from it as you'll get to meet different people with different opinions and ways of life.
People should also do more of reading then writing just as OP said in the second listing, most times one should take more time to read rather than just jumping in a thread just because you want to make a post and increase post count, doing more reading than writing will help you to make more constructive post when you write on the topic.

I don't spam, will I be totally fine and be able to rank up?

I saw many posters received about 10 merit for one shit post in Gambling discussion, is it a good board to spam and be fine?

1. It's just a different way to say "familiarize the site" of course anyone who access a site will need to explore and it depends on each user if they're enjoyed in this forum or not with the old UI/UX.

2. Anyone will try their best to make a comment or reply in every social media or forum! it's not that surprising if a newbie make a mistake and then a senior member will try to correct it.

3. It's already a common sense where you need to do your own research and read the whole terms of services before use the site or service. Actually many senior members are still break this, not only for newbies.

It's simple. There are forum members here that earn more here than there regular jobs outside the forum so they make everything here super professional and take it too serious.

This is what many newbie forgotten when they are here in crypto. They are doing DYOR but in different since most of them searching on how to profit rather than understanding first the Bitcoin that is the reason that brought them here. Many newbie is dying to earn merits here to rank up and participate on bounty campaigns.

During my newbie era. I’m afraid to post here and just browsing on the discussion. I slowly study so that I can interact on other user here and enjoy the discussion. I just join on the campaign later on after I become a regular here in the forum.

The urge or eagerness to grow in the forum ranks has actually made some members create contents or post that are lacking quality knowledge. Newbie see post creation an easy bait to get more merits whereas quality comments have actually gotten more than that. But to get to that stage one needs enough knowledge on bitcoin and crypto at large but that always seems a journey to long for some.

No offense taken mate. Humans are created with the instinct to grow, to succeed and when growth or success is not experienced in whatever thing they engage in, it becomes a concern wether they like it or not. And this growth here encapsulate in all aspects of the forum.
Of course but don't take it too seriously but be wise enough when using forum. The main focus is don't spam, have strong opinion, knowledge so you can have a good argument when using the forum. Still it's a decent community driven forum to discuss anything on a suitable board but if you want to make the forum more than just bitcoin library or something then this has to be the place to work.

It doesn't matter user's intention to develop especially because he wants to gain knowledge. Success in this forum is not just success in getting high rank, making money, or anything else. But your success here is that you managed to acquire useful knowledge about bitcoin and make a profit from it.

One of my best advice I can give a new person is that they should not always be scared to express themselves but in doing so they should also consider how positively it would resound in the forum.

Always be curious this has helped me a lot because I want to know more about Crypto-currency. Learn from mistakes for example the FTX drama, you can learn something from it and understand that centralized exchange is not as safe as decentralized exchange.

Regardless of ranks, DYOR is always a must for everyone here. Ive seen some casual and very serious users when they talk about on different topics here and there is none much difference. We cant just judge them depemds on how they write and compose response at least they can express themselve and present the idea of what they wanted to say or tell us.

*Do Your Own Research (DYOR):   almost every experienced forum users can attest to the power of doing your own research. Unfortunately it is a factor many  newbies neglect but it's actually a tool to the making of  quality threads and contributions from you into the forum.

looking for profit or rather looking for money, because they are beginners only know that some of their friends have succeeded in this forum, but they don't know the process they went through.
It's not easy to be able to earn income through this forum, as long as a beginner's mind is only focused on what will be obtained by joining this forum, not what contribution can be made to this forum.
They compete to get merit but don't do things that will make them appreciated. just learn to spam and just be ignored.
it is difficult to rank up if you do not have the desire to contribute to the forum well. Forums don't need lazy people.

For they are in no particular order:
*Make the forum your friend: a friend is that person whom you are always fond of, cause their presence spring up some bliss within you as you both spend time together. In same vein as a newbie you should take the forum as a close friend,

The first thing to do that can make the forum your best friend bis to be law abiding, follow the forum's rules and regulations and do not plagiarize or show smartness with paraphrasing, be active and contribute to the forum, in doing this not only the forum is benefiting from you but you're both benefiting because you're learning as well in doing so as you grow.

*Apply some breaks in your urge to always make a comment:  create a paradigm shift mentality in your urge to always want to make comments to threads.

The advice here is to apply moderation in everything you do here on the forum because it's not like other online social networks were spamming, plagiarism and post bursting could be allowed, if you don't have any idea about a thread it's not necessary you must reply, and to the ones you will be commenting on, always make sure that you're always on point.

OP, you have hit the hammer on the nail, making the forum your friend i.e part of you is the best as a newbie and even as a forum member no matter your rank because there are so many things to learn about in this forum, since the forum is a community with different writeups by different users.

Since I got used to the forum,I don't really have time for social media since I see it as a waste of time to me,I prefer reading from other people's knowledge to have more knowledge and also I am so found of it that even sometimes when am at work,I just login to see if a thread or information can catch my attention.

redirect the much time you spend on social media (Facebook, tiktok, Instagram, etc) and exert it into the forum and you will be amazed at the height of quality ideas and growth you will amass within a short period.
Personally, I admit that I have learnt a lot from this forum than I would have learnt had I continued spending time on tiktok and instagram. I noticed after a while of becoming active on this forum that those social media sites are designed to take more from you and are mostly for relaxation and entertainment, the forum on the other hand provides access to knowledge and information. I weighed my options and decided that the forum is a better place to be active. I don't regret it, and I do not think I will regret it.

And it's true. I read it twice to understand the meaning of a sentence that could have been said in a much simpler way.
O.P., do you also talk in real life? Smiley
But seriously, you are right: Many people start and end their day on social media. But for me, the forum has become such a friend. A cup of coffee in the morning and kefir in the evening are always accompanied by reading the forum.
You are right, OP, in that you motivate newbies, but they have a lot of new vocabulary to learn, so our role should be very simple. Communication should be in a language understandable to beginners, so simple that it seems as if the interlocutor is sitting next to you at the same table.

You have said it all. Many users have forgotten the reason why they are in the forum. OP, such threads are many in the forum and if really you are doing what you said, this your thread wouldn't be created instead it would have been a comment in another that means you are not even doing what you are telling others to do. If you were reading others users threads, you would have understand more.

I love these writeup...
It's just impossible to make a good legacy that'll stand the test of time -- and prolly instill wisdom in 'em rookies that'd also enhance Thier proficiency over time; changing their perception inwardly for the better -- in all ramifications..... -- WITHOUT swotting alot of valuables, from some already proven facts, from self thought analysis that are ASCERTAINED, finally from the forum... It doesn't work that way.
I'd advise 'em rookies to buckle up and make endeavours NOW -- now is the time cus believe me; a time will come when alot of knowledgeable gurus would get to discover the forum and "mediocrity won't have a stand"

*Apply some breaks in your urge to always make a comment:  create a paradigm shift mentality in your urge to always want to make comments to threads. At times apply some breaks by making it a culture whereby you set aside some moment whereby you go through other forum users threads and comments with the mindset to learn from other ideas through their comments and thread.
This is very important for all forum users.
To be able to constructively contribute to discussions, you need to consume useful content which would improve your knowledge base on certain topics, on which you can educate someone on later

To put it in perspective, you should recognize that at a point, all forum members regardless of rank did not know anything about Bitcoin, so whatever you see more experienced members contributing, it was learnt from several sources, and if they could learn that much, then you can too, you only need to figure out a way that works for you and a topic that interests you.

On different occasions I have come across statements by some newbies expressing how it has been difficult for them to grow or ranking up while on the contrary there are their other counterparts that are doing well and ranking up still in the forum. Although there have been some thread base on this  but yet In my discretion I still thought it wise to drop this few key notes as recipe to every serious newbie out there.

For they are in no particular order:
*Make the forum your friend: a friend is that person whom you are always fond of, cause their presence spring up some bliss within you as you both spend time together. In same vein as a newbie you should take the forum as a close friend, redirect the much time you spend on social media ( Facebook, tiktok, Instagram, etc) and exert it into the forum and you will be amazed at the height of quality ideas and growth you will amass within a short period.

At times apply some breaks by making it a culture whereby you set aside some moment whereby you go through other forum users threads and comments with the mindset to learn from other ideas through their comments and thread.

*Do Your Own Research (DYOR):   almost every experienced forum users can attest to the power of doing your own research. Unfortunately it is a factor many  newbies neglect but it's actually a tool to the making of  quality threads and contributions from you into the forum.

In conclusion, we should all bear in mind that nothing good comes easy. The floor is open for other experienced forum users to contribute in their ideas and thoughts.
