Yep, a cards MH/s is generally fairly close to a card's KH/s for Litecoin mining. Zack's reply pretty much sums it up, although I would like to make note, that for some reason 69xx cards do incredibly well Litecoin / Scrypt mining. A 6950 will do 280-300 MH/s generally, which isn't too great, but I've seen them do 400-500KH/s Litecoin mining (depending on clocks) but yes, people tend to recommend 7950s, but if you are looking for a little bit cheaper setup, I would advise at least taking a look at 69xx cards.

7950s - Cost more, better energy efficiency, can get around 700KH/s, newer card sell to gamers if mining is no longer profitable

6950s - fairly cheap, lower energy efficiency, gets around 400-500KH/s, older card more difficult resale

There are tons of other factors to take into account, but those are some basic ones.

Not sure how cheap 6950's are but my 5850's pull in 400Kh for $125 Smiley

I'll give you a litecoin if you can get my 7950 to around 700kh/s

Mine averages out at 580kh/s after hours of tweaking.

this will get you 630kh 1050core 1250 ram 1.050v core using reaper with intensity 20 you will get 0.1-0.5% stales  Smiley

Hi all,
I have a few questions.
1.   I have seen web pages that list all the different video cards and show the Mh/s for bitcoin (SHA-256) mining but none that show the Mh/s for      Litecoins (Scrypt), does it take the same amount of time?
2.   I have a www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/P8Z77V_PRO/ and it has onboard video.
(a)Can I mine with the onboard video?
(b)If not can I use that for the display and just plug in a monitor, switched to another source, to keep the video card active?
(c)Does having a monitor plugged in instead of the dummy plug slow down the processing?
3.   Can you mix cards, brand and speed, in the same system if they are not linked for X-fire or SLI? I have seen a few posts talking about mixed cards (ATI and Nvidia) and it seemed like they had them in the same system. I would fear some Appliance bots would come out and start fighting

Thanks
Rotor

the best to cards for script coins at the min are 7950s get 630kh  and 7970s 700kh  do not but xfx as they suck

its not a good idea to mine with the on-board video as they overheat
t
with my 7950s ( 83 of them ) all I have to do the get them to mine i plug a monitor into 1 card at a time for 30s /when the screen pops up aslong as a monitor has been plugged into each card they will work fine

having a monitor plug in uses a couple more mb of v ram and a small amount of processing power

you can mix cards you don't need sli/ xfire  its always easier to use 1 type of card though

any questions just ask  Smiley
