I think my statements in the video alongside my comments in my doctrine and the recording of my comments at Jimmy homma's ethereum group should speak for themselves.
Without knowing the particular criticism it's hard to address. That said, I could elaborate on what I've heard.
First without a doubt I'm difficult to work with. I have extremely high standards when it comes to product design, a product's right to exist and what problems are priorities to solve. I view potential products like wannabes running a brutal gauntlet that probably will kill them. Simply put there isn't enough time in life to work on ugly solutions to non-existentry problems.
Unfortunately, this also means I can be unintentionally harsh to people. Some get better from it. Others grow to resent me.
Second, I tend to believe that most cryptocurrency tech isn't up to par for the problems we want to solve with it. There seems to be a fundamental lack of appreciation in this space for how long and how difficult it is to engineer reliable, secure distributive systems that are economically aligned to their intended purpose. Thus I've been unforgiving of many actors who have launched ICOs with the we'll figure it out later Attitude. I believe you shouldn't take the public's money unless you know damn well what you're doing. Let's be frank; Not a lot of people are solid here. They are young passionate and just learning to drive. Don't give them a damn Lamborghini as a sweet 16.
Third, I tend not to communicate well in certain cases. Often, I'm aware of a lot of moving pieces and make decisons given the whole board. Sometimes I don't communicate that well and not given the benefit of the doubt it can engender distrust or confusion. Add running a massively decentralized business and that can cascade.
Finally, philosophically I'm not an anarchist. I also believe there is a place for governments and it's ok to work with them and banks. I also don't subscribe to the whole decentralized everything movement. I think there is a spectrum from things that are ok to live in a curated and centalized world to things (like identity) that have to be as decentralized as possible. Obviously some people get upset about things like that. And it's fair. It's politics.
Not sure if I'm famous. I don't even get invited to conferences. But I appreciate the kind words.
It's a fair question and I hope I answered it.
I'll still be around for something somewhere. Maybe I'll finally have a chance to actually launch a product Instead of just enabling others to do so.
