granny served in the military and retired quite in an unusual way because his life was at risk when a coup was planned inn my country and in a way, he got involved in the mix which changed a lot of things about him and restricted him from being really involved in any active service or official job. a lot of his other colleagues went down on the call of duty and when you sick back to reflect on the scarifies they have to pass through just for the service to their nationality and in most instances get little to nothing serious in return, you just have to applaud them for all their effort.

even with the fact that the military has been politicized mostly because they don't even have the ability to speak for themselves and most times have  their lives and jobs threatened when they don't want to yield to the wants of these politician, they still play a great role in the seemingly level of peace we have witnessed in the world today. shout out to all the rugged soldiers out there.

Give all before death
It is quite difficult to give appreciation to your military or the military structure of your country when you live in a kleptocracy and in a highly corrupted society, when the people within the military use their position of power to abuse and steal from the common people. What kind of appreciation are they supposed to expect from us, if they mistreat us and take our money at the minimum chance?
Civilians here hate the military, specially those in the very top of the military command, because they have spent years and years establishing their own businesses, extracting gold illegally, squandering oil investments and pushing down this country into the absolute misery we see every single day.

No appreciation for them, as they are the mechanism which continues to keep in place an illegitimate president in power.
There is no honor in suppressing and torturing the people they are supposed to protect, they belong to the dustbin of history.
It's painful to know that the military that was created to defend the people against external aggression and internal criminal activities has been used by the political class to oppress the people. The army in my country has been used to intimidate and kill government opposition while protesters are brutalized and even injured by the military if they protest against anti-people policies.

However, we still have to honor and celebrate the efforts of some selfless officials. My country would have been overrun by some jihadist and terrorist organizations if not for the gallantry of some military personnel. I know some of them who have lost their lives because they are protecting our country from these terrorists.

I lost a friend in the military when he went to fight the Boko Haram and Bandits in the North East region of the country. He disappeared and we never heard anything from him till date. His family doesn't know how he disappeared and we didn't hear anything from the government. This is how these soldiers disappear, die in battle field and couldn't tell their loved ones goodbye. They are true Heroes.

For fuck's sake, you can make this excuse for the Nazi soldiers too.

While the purpose of this thread is to acknowledge the humanity of these individuals, we can’t downplay or fail to acknowledge the harm and suffering that the Nazi soldiers/regime inflicted on the people. It’s essential to consider the complexity of history as well as the importance of promoting peace and human rights.

I understand your grievances and plight, yes it’s quite unfortunate that some people misuse military power to suit their personal interests. But then again, it’s really not the fault of so many men and woman in service that they’re being used by men of power for the wrong reason, so many of them are just serving their motherland the best way they feel they can. Not all of them are as bad or evil as you think or feel, some of them are actual heroes, risking their lives for you and I, and I strongly believe that those ones really do deserve our appreciation for real.

Fine by Time
Can we all just use a few minutes of our busy, valuable and precious time to appreciate all our brothers, sisters, cousins, nephews, uncles, aunties, Niblings, friends and everyone we may know (or might have come across sometime) who are in the military and even the Paramilitary. These people are risking their lives every single day just so we all in our various countries can live in peace and without fear of anything,  and yet we never really get to appreciate them enough.

Many of them have died already,  many of them may have been handicapped in one way or the other, we haven't seen many in months, some get to see many more often but never really get to appreciate them well enough. I really don't know why this thought came into my head but I feel it'll really be a great idea to have this sort of a quick appreciate on the forum, just take out a minute or two,  if you have their numbers, give em a call, and if you know somewhere who has their number, give the person a call and request for their number or however way you feel you can reach out to them quickly. Reach them and just tell them how much you appreciate their service to their motherland, and encourage them to keep it going, they can really use the encouragement because some of them are tired and just want quite.

So if you can do this, I'll really appreciate it.

Respect to all the lost souls in the military. Serving a country is not an easy task and i understand the level of discipline, effort, commitment, and training they have to undergo only to give up their life for the cause. Some at an early age few years after enrolling in the military. Well, they are never to be forgotten.

In the meantime, try moving this topic to politics and society that is where its best suited.
