Theymos has stated deleted posts will not reduce merit.

That's all OP need to know, it is designed in that way and i didn't find any big problem here. I personally believe it will be quite unfair if the merits are reduced after the merited post made by user get deleted.

Why?  Is it so important to verify that a message was worth xx merit points before being deleted?
If someone continues to receive merit from deleted posts, that pattern can be picked up by looking at the logs.
I agree.

You have highlighted a very important issue here. I think there must be an option for admin and staff to see the deleted or edited post already. It is available on most of the forum software. If that option is not present here currently, something must be done about this issue. Nice to see a new member coming up with a good forum suggestion.

When someone  gets merit point from another user, he can delete their post ( especially when their post does not deserve a merit point ) and the problem that the other members cannot read  this post anymore and when someone else clicks on the link of this post (on the coordinate of Merit) , it will appear " An Error Has Occurred! "

Maybe the best solution will be :  The post who gets a merit point their owner cannot delete it .

Hopefully that theymos will correct this problem.

It could be a problem if post are being deleted to conceal the abuse of the merit system.

The abuse would still be there in the Merit logs... just the actual post would be gone.   You don't really need to read a deleted post to know if it was worth 50 merit points.  Smiley

There is a little problem in merit system which it is the deleted post , For example :

When someone  gets merit point from another user, he can delete their post ( especially when their post does not deserve a merit point ) and the problem that the other members cannot read  this post anymore and when someone else clicks on the link of this post (on the coordinate of Merit) , it will appear " An Error Has Occurred! It's not really a bug.

The system records the URL that you gave merit to.  If that URL is deleted, obviously it will throw an error.

Theymos has stated deleted posts will not reduce merit.
