My friend's football team performed so poorly that he was very disappointed to the point he uttered out loud that he was no longer a supporter of the team. The next statement was -"Chelsea! for life", (a statement that is commonly used in my locale to show that you support a team), that is he is now a supporter of Chelsea FC.

The situation doesn't seem as much, but on a second thought, the question of the attachments to the club we support came up.

How attached are you to the sport team you support? Do you have club tokens, Jerseys and all that to show that you really love a team or your support is just by mouth like my friend that you can easily just dump your team and switch to another team with just an utterance.

Well for me I do think that I definately would be attached to a sports team but at the same time if I would be betting on it I would go with the team most likely to win and not the team I would have an attachment with.

My whole family is too drawn to cricket, so I remember having so many shirts and jerseys of their favorite players even before I knew what it was. But for me personally the attachment is not as big as it is for most people.

Time change and so does teams, some teams might perform better in 10 years and some might be done for int he future. For me I would definately pick the one's who are giving the audience value for their money and time.

I think one can't be attached to a particular team forever. One may join a team when the team was doing perfectly in performance and unfortunately the team becomes and weak and no improvement for a long time.  This may discourage the person to get a new team to support.

I was attached to one team, Red Star... but when I was younger! Now I don't have a favorite, I like to watch a nice game and to bet on that! I still have friends that are big fans of some clubs, they are very passionate about it... it's hard to talk with them about sport sometimes, they are not objective!
I believe there's a measure for people attached to some sports team! While there are some coolers who like to watch some games and don't get stressed too much about their favorite team performance, there are people who have tattoos about their favorite team! With that said, there are extremes for sure... and I guess we all know that, we saw how these extremes behave sometimes!

I don't have a particular attachment to any team although usually have favorites picked up when growing up. It always seems baffling to me when seeing die-hard fans who think they are somehow part of the history of the club - but if that brings them joy then so be it. It's kinda funny to hear people in casual conversations with comments like "yeah we're doing well this season" or "we might make it to the top" as if they have any relationship with how the club performs or they are somehow part of the team. There is a level of over familiarity but players at the top of a game like football live a completely different life to the spectators these days, although it does give kids something relatively healthy to aspire towards.

If we talk closely, maybe our emotions are measured when watching our favorite team play badly, it will not be much different from your friends. But I myself did not say such a thing. Since my favorite team hasn't launched its token yet so I don't have any token fans already on the market like the newly launched Porto, Lazio and others.

I don't have club tokens and jerseys. If I'm actually a fan of a team, I'll support them with everything that I can especially with moral support.
Even I'm a fan of a team, that doesn't make me attached that much. I'm not a die hard fan but when I become, I'll probably do the same thing as others but I just don't find myself being die hard just as what others are doing.

I am also a fan of a football sports but I don't also have club tokens and jersey and I can still say that I am a true fan because I am supporting my favorite team in a way that I know, moral support and betting on the team while whenever they have a fight, either win or lose I'd still support them. Each and everyone has their own way how to show their support in their favorite team also in the respective sports they love and I respect those who shows their support in a physical way.

I'm a real arsenal fan to the core, I have been supporting arsenal since 2010 when I came to know about premier league.  For sometime my club do loss some matches but didn't make me to give up to My club. I still believe  and love arsenal,  I believe football is a game that every team as it own time to shine and trend. I can't look down on my team no matter  what.

What if I stopped supporting my team and move to a new team and all of a sudden my new team starts loosing seriously will I still move to a new team? So it's better  for me to remain where I belong.  That's show sincerity  and love of a real fan.

Jerseys and caps. I mostly buy them if I have the spare money but I don't intend to just keep them or put them in a glass case but instead use it to show how much I support that team.
About discussions, I always respect friends who are in full support of other teams especially the ones that I hate the most. It's just the same as how they feel whenever you discuss your team with them.  Grin The one thing we have in common is we both love basketball and I think that's a precious bind even if you have different views on what team to support.

I'm honestly not a part of any really, I just like the sport itself. I judge all teams on an objective basis (imo) and pretty much just enjoy arguing with others on how stuff goes on each match and whatnot. It also lets me well, remember most of the stuff like the strength of the teams and whatnot. Plus, it makes finding dark horses fun at times since you just don't really expect them to win and pretty much destroy all you thought of what would actually happen.

Honestly, I don't really think club merch is a measure of how much you love/support the team. It's one, but shouldn't be counted as everything since not everyone has the capability to support them like that. It's really just something more on a mental/spiritual level that only you yourself can judge imo.

I believe that loyalty is more important, no team can win all that time and if they did then its not a contest between equal strengthen team. Maybe at the heat of the moment such kind of anger maybe expressed but mostly they won't change their team just because of a loss. Getting attached to a team or club depends on everyone someone will attract towards a particular player so they become fan of the team or club they are playing.

Loyalty to one's team is like being loyal to what you feel and to your ideal because in the first place we've picked the team where we throw our support because it represents our ideal and what we are representing, we just don't throw our ideals like that, we have a weak character if we keep doing that, I am loyal to my team but not to the point that I can call myself die hard.

I am not attached to the sports team as I do not follow the sports trend and only hear from my cousin or friends who like to watch their favourite team match with the other team. I do not have the club tokens but sometimes I watch the club tokens in Binance if you mean about the club tokens. Besides that, I do not support the sports team too fanatic as that can make me not think neutral if my favourite team meets the other teams in one match. Using that way, I can talk or discuss with other people about sports and we can accept our opinion of each other.

Too much of a disappointment. So how much did he lose that he really seems to be regretting in supporting the previous team? I wouldn't be surprised if he does support another team after losing this new one.

It's just a sport for some gamblers actually but for some fans, they do cheer for the team. And some fans actaully volunteer to bring more friends using their vehicle, its a bit too much but they do that.

Honestly I don't blame your friend for supporting Chelsea FC at this time and leaving his first club, it's a common thing for football fans.

As far as I know, football fans are divided into several characters, about different human characters.
I mean like this.
1. True supporters: these kind of supporters love their club with all their heart and they have an idol there, people like this no matter how bad the team plays on the pitch, they defend their idol.
2. On-Screen Supporters: this is normal, the percentage is bigger for this kind of supporters, maybe I don't need to explain, you guys know like on-screen supporters, or live channels like that.
3. Karbitan fans: this is even worse, this kind of supporter, only looks at the top team and wins, if the team is not attractive and has no potential in every league game, this kind of supporters easily switch to other clubs, no wonder Chelsea got a lot of new supporters this season.

Now you can judge your friend belongs to which football support character, you can rate it.

in the three supporting characters you can rate 1,2,3 which are supporters who have club tokens, not all football supporters want to have club tokens, only supporters of one heart exist.

I'm not a fan with merch mostly people would like to buy that kind of stuff to show off that they support the team they love. When I make a gamble with my favourite team I just keep supporting them by just betting their match and have shout support, not with the things like jerseys. Even though the team already lost it's too hard to dump or blame them because in the first place we are the player who risk our bets to the favourite team and on my side no matter what happens still I'm their fan.

I'm not a die-hard fan, but I do have an attachment to the team, I'm supporting it's a basketball team here in our country, you don't ditch or dump your team because they are performing poor in one season, teams are always in the process of building a strong team and no team is always strong all time, there will come a time that they are weakened by injuries, players getting old, you should show loyalty to your team in their glory and hard days, our loyalty to the teams we support shows our character.

I'm just a minimal supporter, i'll follow their social media, keep track of their matches from time to time and maybe include a bet or two if it's worth the risk. I don't want to get too invested in the teams where i'd spend money since it's easy to change the teams you'd like to support but I do like collecting team jerseys though. In esports it's a different story though, I think i've spent a small amount to buy a battlepass and it would provide some extra effects depending on the team logo you prefer to wear while playing the game.

Very very attached to my club you see, when you're not the loosing type and starts lossing, you get out of control and things get easily to your head and one reacts out anger.

We as football fans looking for pleasure,so when you don't get one it's better you keep it cool, although this is for the die-hard fans, those hard to bare this switch sides to get the pleasure they desire,it's like supporting Chelsea and Bayern Munich at the moment, when Bayern Munich losses you go get pleasure from Chelsea.

People do alot to show how attached they are by getting jerseys, naming kids after a particular player, painting their neighborhood with the clubs colour, going extra miles to beef with an opposing fan as a result of all this.
