I spent a weekend working on a "bitcoin gem meets non-ugly million dollar homepage" idea to get familiar with bitcoin site development. I have some more useful projects in the works but this was a quick and fun one-off.
Unlike the bitcoin gem and its clones, people can actually post images and blog-style entries in addition to links to their sites. The site also has an RSS feed. Hopefully these additional features will help with SEO rankings and take some of the sting out of being the last one to own the top spot before a reset (non-random and 21 days after the last purchase).
