Quick update on Bitcoin price
4,064 USD
Have we reached the bottom?

Seeing the Chinese exchanges where the bitcoin price is fluctuating around $3500 and the trading operations, i think that we will see the price getting lower in the next hours before recovering. I estimate a bottom around $38xx

Lets hope the lightning development and other news will help ease the tension.

< $1000?

what do you mean uder 1000 dollar
you mean bitcoin price down until reach under 1000 dollar, i think is very dificult

this board has stopped being speculation board a long time ago, although you can still find some good stuff around here on occasions but it mostly is people guessing or sharing their wishes about bitcoin price not what they speculate based on some analysis, etc...

so don't read too much into what people say. it doesn't matter if it is talking about going up or down.

Still waiting for the correction to below 1,500 because I still felt the bull was a bit too much on afterburn. Because the longer it takes, the more extreme I suspect it could be.

However, if this blip below 1,700 is it (or was it) then Bitcoin is a hell of a lot tougher than we thought.

You are still waiting?

From today's point of view it already seems to be quite un-likely.

However there is always the huge risk in scaling issues, with 200k un-confirmed transactions, hope it could make some more noises to either push the thing forwards, or make the price calm down a bit more.
Bitcoin is not giving any signs that is going to stop this is good news and bad news, it is good news because this means there is great confidence on bitcoin and people are finally realizing the great value of bitcoin and it is bad new because like always we would like to have bought when the price was lower.

And I think that bitcoin is not merely gonna stop in the $2000 mark value right now, and the good news are really spreading across the world right now we are finally seeing some good value right here if it is not a good news for the ones that wants to buy bitcoin that badly then it is a good news for the bros that have bitcoin and waiting for it to step even further more.!
Don’t get me wrong the price is fantastic, but hindsight is always 20/20 the one that has 10BTC probably is thinking why he did not bought 100BTC and the one that has 10000 is thinking why I did not get 20000, that is just human nature, and I’m sure we are going to see a lot of threads like that very soon.

Bitcoin will be having more thread replies as of now because if the price good news and because of that more individual will get to know better behind it's good image today. Even those negative speculation from previous months of challenging days we experienced, but due to the demand of bitcoin, the price changes rapidly as it's correctuon to lots of negative thought that we heared; so that was being stopped eventually and current price is the proof of good effect.

It is clear to me that there is a strong bullish trend that undoubtedly will lead the bitcoin price to unexpected levels this same year, but this fast movement will mean an understandable volatility for long in the bitcoin behavior, so we need to be patient to about emotional sell offs from time to time.

I do not even think that today's price of a note is the last pointer. Audi light institute exactly everything is exactly the opposite, despite the fact that bitkoyn grew all in the price we are seeing. Besides growth, very active fluctuations in the market of currencies and how they will be, matters will need to be clarified.

I did have book some profit around $1800 and i am waiting to see whether the price could hold above $1700 because it has a strong resistance that that valuation, i am not sure when the SEC news will be coming out and if there is a rejection news then we would see a small correction but not expecting any drastic dump.

its good for you and i hope you can make another profit with the up and down of the price. i hope that after the SEC news is coming out, the price is not affected too much and the price will still increase and i guess many of us wants this is happen too. we will be more happy if the price can break until more than $2000 as the price looks like too difficult to break at that point. and for the correction price, i hope it will not to go down until $1500.

Correction is always the next thing to happen every increase or decrease. Bitcoin is still being mined. It is the right thing to do when you want profit. We must not sell lower than the price you bought. So don't rush to buy. Wait until the price is in it's low key. Just wait then it's worth it. Well, rest assured.
yes no doubt that the price of bitcoin can take correction at any time but still we can see that the price of bitcoin trading too stable and my personal view is that still there is time for the price of bitcoin to take correction  and the price of bitcoin is expected to increase more and more in near future. and hope that tell the end of 2017 the price of i bitcoin will cross 3000 USD level. therefore  i think that the price of bitcoin is still expecting to increase.

At moment of this post, it's 1650USD, which is almost -240usd vs high point 1890, Bitstamp data.

So how far you think it may go? Or at what price you are going to enter?
I think price will not dump to that point in future so that was the last chance for anyone to buy cheap bitcoins at under $1700. There is strong support right now at $1700 so buying at around $1700 right now can still be profitable.
I don’t know about that the price still seems very high to me, if it got below 1500 then I would consider buying bitcoin but at the current price there is no guarantee bitcoin is going up once again so soon so it is better to play it safe at the moment and wait.

Same thing I noticed in this month starting as well. Price seems higher than the chart in bitstamp. You could have hold the bitcoin for a year this would help you see double the value.
Do don't ignore the buying still it is good in bitcoin.

well it didnt go very far down im thinking as its now May, 15th, 2017 at 2:07 am UTC at currently listed at market value of $1793.00
i imagine that value will continue to rise while every now and then going down about $1-300 every half a week to a week or so but will continue to rise faster then these dips will be able to make it continually decrease. my advice is to wait for these little dippers and buy btc as soon as you see them then wait 24-36 hours later and see that you will have made a profit already.

If you are a trader then stop selling, even if price crashed down to $50 keep holding your coins, only newbies without enough experience would fall for whales tricking them causing panic sell.

I need to teach a lesson, if you buy at $1800 then do not sell lower $1800 under any circumstances what so ever if every single buyer refuses to sell with loss then how would you suggest the price to drop?
How many bitcoins do they have? let them dump as it benefits the medium class traders providing an opportunity for them to buy cheaper.

I am begging you when you buy at any price, don't sell with loss because then price will start to go down, and guess who is buying from you when selling lower than what you bought? exactly the same whales sold you those coins, that circle never ends if you keep doing this.
The problem with that strategy is that your money is going to be there doing nothing for a long time, and most traders will prefer to take a small loss and then reassess the market and look for a better opportunity to trade, so while what you say makes sense is not a strategy everyone wants to follow.

I really expected  a good correction but it looks like the price of bitcoin has rebounded after a slight dip and i really cannot understand what made the dip and we did not see a major panic and the market is yet again stable as it is above $1800 yet again.I did wait to re enter as i thought we could see a good correction but the price recovered pretty soon before giving me an opportunity.

I hate this kind of reasoning.  If every single person refused to sell at a loss, there would be no trading because the buyers would never match the sellers.  It's just the basics of how an exchange works.  For trading there have to be losers as winners and no group can unanimously do the same thing when everyone is only there to get profit.

Remember bitcoin is still being mined, so there is still a fresh supply that will flow in the market.  And it is the right thing to do when we want profit.  We must not sell lower than the price we bought.  You can even do it yourself unless you are a buyer Cheesy.

Correction is always the next thing to happen every rapid increase or decrease in price. It is expected.  So other people does not rush in buying when the price is surging up fast, they just need some time and price will definitely correct itself after some time.

It dropped from $1900 to $1750 in 1 day and this decline would happen gradually, or may be even faster than how it happened when the price kept increasing unless there are enough buyers who can afford to buy bitcoins at $1750 else there will be a huge dump from holders that would make the price reach $1200 soon.

I think the price of bitcoin soon will be increase again back we are just seeing huge price few hours ago almost $150 plus but the price was increase back and i think there is someone are sold their huge bitcoin in the market that is why we are experience of drop this  day.. but soon hoping that the price can be increase fast..
For those who mention about $1,000 i think its impossible to happen right now because bitcoin is already been legal in japan..

Even if bitcoins are legal in japan, the market doesn't work that way. It's price fluctuates depending on the market and controversies. The current jump took place after the exchange bitfinex having issues.

I’m not buying anything at these prices, if you do and the price crashes because of bad news you risk having your money frozen for a long time, so it is better to wait for the bubble to end and then enter when the price is a lot more reasonable.

This down mean that price correction is in order it can be like that by 1500 and the up to 2000 or 3000. Price is over 1700 at the moment so think that this down peak was only temporally and that we would be fix it in matter of days think that in Monday we will have price again over 1800, so dont need to be worry about anything.

i wouldn't be so hasty to speculate like this.
there are a lot of things that need to be happening soon, that can change the price drastically. one of which is SEC decision about ETF, once again they can deny it and price continued dropping.
the bitfinex drama is not yet over either.
the BU drama is not completely over yet either!

all of these can go both way.

I think the price dip was due to the negative coverage about the UK hospital and other services getting hacked into.
Then mentioning Bitcoin was the payment method for the ransoms so could be some malware sellers converting fiat this is speculation so it's fun to speculate.
Bitcoin has decreased considerably. We're all here when it's been speculated that bitcoin prices will continue to rise. I do not believe that there is anything like this, there are some negative news that we should be able to bear. Because the negative news has a huge impact on bitcoin prices.

price went up too fast, it should have came down. the correction always happens just like how the rise always happens. there is nothing stopping that. we just need to be ready to buy at the bottom before the golden opportunity fades away.

just like the $800 earlier this year, this dip will end soon too. and next target will be $2200 this time.

Yes this correction was definitely needed.
A chance for the guys with some money left to accumulate more and for the new ones to get in.
Will be interesting to watch how this will develop until monday where another ETF announcement is going to happen right?

this looks more like a pre correction kind of dip, i am afraid we may see more drop when the ETF is rejected once again, not that ETF matters, it is still the same useless thing but traders seem to like the effect it has.

but that is all for the better rise in next phase. we have already had the same thing happen when price dropped from 1200+ to 900 once. and now we may see the same thing happen again 1800+ to 1500(?) and back up to $2300 Cheesy

< $1000?

very unlikely, the price reocovered tot he previous high , which was around $1300, then from that we made a new high which is $1900 or something, i didn't check precisely

from this i can deduct, that the bottom will be the previous high, and will hardly fall under $1300, but i would also bet that below $1500 is a tough call, i would play the $1500-1900 range

It will never below $1500

Bitcoin is having a strong support on the market. That will protect the bitcoin price from get dumping a lot by the trades. I have speculated about this. I will try to enter if there will another good news coming for us.
It may bring another bullish trend and i can take some money. $1600 is a good bottom for me.

Just put your order at the bottom and wait until the market gets panic sell.  Roll Eyes
For now that is the wisest thing to do but it might fall under 1500$ and 1600$ is not the new bottom in my opinion there is a possibility of it going back to 1200$-1300$ ranges if there aren't any good news in the coming days, if there are maybe the upward trend we experienced will continue again to reach new heights we have never seen before.

At moment of this post, it's 1650USD, which is almost -240usd vs high point 1890, Bitstamp data.

So how far you think it may go? Or at what price you are going to enter?

price went up too fast, it should have came down. the correction always happens just like how the rise always happens. there is nothing stopping that. we just need to be ready to buy at the bottom before the golden opportunity fades away.

just like the $800 earlier this year, this dip will end soon too. and next target will be $2200 this time.

I do hope we can keep our nose above 1200 level. Less than that would be bad. Like, 2013. bad. Almost.

I hate damn bubbles.
It's not a bubble, it is real, organic growth caused by increased demand in Japan. In 2013 we had totally artificial bubble created by Mt.Gox and Chinese leverage speculators.

Price of BTC won't crash this time, we will have normal correction, and then BTC will resume bull run. It is a high chance that we will see $2000 sooner that we thought we would.
Mechanics is different than before, I agree, and numbers are overall less dramatic, but after this crazy bull run psychological effect (of the roll back to or even below 1000) would be nearly the same. You know how it goes - lot of people lose money and leave disappointed, mainstream medias spread bad news, and so on... all followed by another period of stagnation. If this happens, we won't come anywhere near stable 2000 for a very long time.

In my opinion, increased demand in Japan is purely speculative. I am not seeing well developed businesses there starting to accept btc; there are only unconfirmed rumors, FOMO, and bs. Hardly a foundation for healthy sustainable growth.

I hope that you're right, though.

Well, what do you expect after jumping from $1250 to $1850 in a matter of weeks?  This is to be expected.  Lots of people made money in this huge pop, and people sell and take profits.

Do I think we're going to drop to $1000?  No, I don't.  The bullish feeling is still around, and people are just taking a breather.  I don't think I'm going to be buying much at these prices, though.  Yikes.
no it is not going to drop to such a low price, although the price of bitcoins is still not going take a correction but still if t willl take correction i am hopeful that its correction will not be more that 200 points.

Same thing that happened when it reached the same price of gold.
From $1250 then suddenly going back to $900+ then back again.
All of this is now normal to me unlike before. It is just leveling itself. Maybe there have been too many people who bought it while it was increasing. Maybe now, they thought they should sell. I would not mind that movement.

So it did even went lower, as I check the price right now it went back to $1,726. I guess it is already a known move with bitcoin, after a pump > dump > pump so in the end after this decrease expect that the price will increase and maybe possible to $2k.

The price is still holding. But if there is a correction on a horizon, hopefully it will stop at least @ 1300. And will not erase the whole record high gain. I really hate those huge swings as I cannot predict a sh*t and what to do with my coins.

It's not really a correction yet. If a correction kicks in, I am more thinking at levels as $1300-$1400 as being the target bottom. I have mentioned it a few times already, but the price is more or less 20% overbought. It won't take long before we see this "premium" vanish to make place for a price more appropriate to the situation we are sitting in. If you're trying to benefit from current increase as a trader - you have done good by cashing out profits over the $1800 level. If you time it right, you'll have some nice buy back opportunities ahead of you. Wink

That's good. We're overdue and I should have sold higher up but now I might as well ride the tiger and see what happens with the value. It might go lower by a few dozen more dollars, but I would not be super confident about this and it's more wishful thinking than anything. Going to just look for the bottom and enter with what I have tucked away.

Markets now slid to an average low of $1,697.42, as we speak. This fluctuation is common nowadays and there is nothing to worry about, since the spike-plunge ratio seems to keep up to its knees for quite a while.

Only a month ago, when prices hovered near $1,200, we already guessed about a standardized "price correction mechanism" being on its way but since then it keeps increasing. So today's price is still not a definitive measure to be considered for price correction. However the dips should be consistent as was in the past months.

Based on majority of speculation, it should land at the price rate of $1300-$1500 due to the fact that chart told this. This drop is expected as we all want to see the correction price.

Actually if anyone believes that bitcoin will probably go to $2,000 value or above this year, they can consider this price rate as starting point to buy and add accumulations of their bitcoins. The price meteoric performance of bitcoin price, IIRC, started at around $1,200 then breached to about $1,800. In this we can see that if the price will start to have some impressive performance again at $1,500, then we can expect a road to $2,000 in just few weeks. Just my own thoughts based on the given situation.

more seriously, it will rebound a bit and then retest at least 1620 or a bit below. if that's broken, the next targets below are 1530 and 1450

Not exactly a price correction, it's the market moving up and down.

Since The cyber attack on chains of hospital in UK happened, and it's either panic selling or just the attackers are cashing out.

Dont panic, I bet it'll recover the same price in some weeks.

Now the Bitstamp data has gone back up by about $50.  Clearly just a correction so that the price can stabilise.  There's no bubble and the price won't drop to <$1000, but we could see this pull back to just over $1600 in the future before Bitcoin goes for more gradual growth (or a bubble, depending on the size of these curves).
