Without wanting to be insulting, I think that Japaneses are sometime very stupid. 2 examples:
1. Did Japan ever tried to repay the damages inflicted unjustly on Peaceful China after their very stupid conquest attempt?
2. Building Nuke plants on the pacific rim... (beyond intelligence)
Conclusion and question: Aren't the Islands a very small price worth paying to pacified the relation? China is here to stay. Furthermore, why would China needs to militarize those rocks? Between Japan and China, the seas must be pretty safe... It makes a long long time since that a pirate ship didn't roam those seas... happily.
