I would avoid scripts on the computers that access your bitcoins accounts.

Also be mindful of where you get it from.  I released a script for the silverfish miners as some were dropping speed over time (i think they got past this on firmware its been a while since I had one).   What i did was release a batch file script source code, and you had to build it in notepad etc.

Just know what the script is doing.  If it is closed source there is a greater chance of it doing something you dont want.

Typically, a 'scriptkiddy' or 'skid' is a beginner scriptwriter in the script or hacking community that copy and pastes other people's good scripts and claim it as their own, or possibly changes only the simple things.

Why would you be asking this question to a Skid? Are you new to scripting, and don't know any of the terms? I'd change the title. Being called a 'scriptkiddy' is probably the pariah of the community.

It depends like say a dice bot and they are throwing it away in chatroom it's probably not a good idea.
But whatever script it is inspect in it if you can. I usually avoid any kind off scripts.

all depends on the use of the script, if the script is made to create a program that helps us, then there is no harm if we use the script, we must be smart in choosing and using the script in a program, hopefully you can be careful in choosing scripts you'll use ...  Grin

Is it safe to accept scripts, or for optimal safety avoid it completely? I have the feeling they are very easy to "have fun with" Cheesy.

Scripts should be inspected before execution. Scripts are in readable code and usually are not that big.

Unless you or someone you trusted have checked the code carefully, you shouldn't take it and run it assuming it is safe.

A script, by definition, isn't inherently "evil". You can write a script (or a program) to do anything, or certain things based on restrictions of the scripting environment. If you have at least basic working knowledge of the syntax in the script, you will be able to read it and figure out what it does. If you have no idea, then it's best not to accept anything you find randomly online unless it's been verified to be working as intended. Better safe than sorry.
