It is a challenge to find quality posts from an ignored user but sometimes you can see quality in quoted posts of the user. It is barely seen by you because it needs to depend on quoted posts, not original posts of an ignored user.
The ignored member's posts are not necessarily bad. Often times, members ignore other members who may have high-quality posts but do not like their opinions, so it is not possible to judge an ignored member by saying that all of his posts are not good.

Many reputable members of the forum have different opinions, so it is good to use the ignore button in this case to prevent useless quarrels and arguments between members. Therefore, in my opinion, the ignore button's primary function is to prevent members from seeing the posts of members who do not agree with them or whose opinions they do not like.

So I am asking this same question again: can someone who is ignored merit the same person that ignored him/her without knowing that he/she was ignored? And will the receiver revive the merits? Finally, if we get merited by someone, many people like to know who merited them (like me), so, for instance, I got merited from someone who I ignored. Will I still see the profile or not?

Somehow the title you use does not reflect the content of your writing. Maybe it's better if the title is a summary of the contents of the post

Maybe you need to get involved with forum drama once in a while so you can feel the sensation of being ignored and ignored by others. That's not a bad thing, nor does it involve abuse of a trust system

No mate, you can actually merit someone on your ignore list.
You can merit an ignored user but if you already ignored that user, how do you know posts of that ignored user are good to distribute your sendable merit to that one?

You cannot merit a user without going through his thread first that you need to merit the post deserving such, if you ignore a user, it will show on your own view that he's on your ignore list because you can't see the content of his post until you unignore the user back, you cannot just merit a profile without first going through the thread where the post was found, there is the exact place you discover the user is ignored by you and you can't merit him until you remove him from your ignore list.
What OP asked is the other way around, but you are not wrong though. He simply asked, if the ignored user on your list can still merit your post, which the answer is yes.

Now, my question is, can someone who is ignored merit the same person that ignored him/her without knowing that he/she was ignored? And will the merits still go to the profile that ignored the merit receiver?
When someone has added you to their ignore list - then they can no longer see your posts, but they can still see your username displayed prominently in the same thread where they posted with you. They also can't send you merit - unless they have removed you from their ignore list. Instead you can send them merit [only if you don't ignore it too].

If you are curious about how it works - then practice it yourself and get the answer. You just need to ignore someone you want to send merit to their post - then get their post with merit, it will give you the answer.

The answer is very clear and understanding...when you are been ignored by someone you can only see the person's post but the person that ignored you will not see your post, and you that seen the person's post you can merit the person because you do come across the post, but the person that ignored you will not merit you because is not seeing or viewing your post.

Secondly it's obvious that if a user ignored you and you are aware or nobody informed you that a particular person ignored you will remain invisible until the person removed you from ignored list...the reason while some people ignored some persons is as result of they are writing trash and their write-up is not comprehensive

Sometimes some people ignored some users because of challenges and disagreement between two parties, so when you are been ignored, it's obvious and automatically that the person that ignored you have hate everything about you it can't merit any of your fucking post.

And from the reverse part the users have ignore another person of user can still Merit them from another person quote. If they ignore a user they will not see the person posts again but they can see it when the user's posts are quoted by another user then the user who ignore the user will see it and can still Merit the post as well. And also the user who is ignored can merit the user who ignored him.

I don't know that if we can send a merit to the one who has ignored us but I'm sure that we can send merit to those members whom we ignore. The receiver will get the merits even if you ignore him/her because merits has nothing with the ignored users and anyone can get merits by the ones who have smerits. But, I don't think that anyone would ever send any merits to the ones whom they have added in their ignored list.

There is no doubt that the place of merit will be visible; it will, but the meriting won't go true. Check the quote below to see who has tried it before and confirm there was an error message. I was thinking the same way until the day I came across the information. You can try it out yourself and confirm if it is true.
@Hatchy you should also note this too.

No @Oripichukwu I won't say it if I wasn't sure about it. Here you can see it in these images I just merited op whom I added to my ignore list.

A similar situation occurs also when trying to merit posts from ignored board: you can't do it. However, when trying to do that, you get an error message, saying that you can not merit that post. But when you try to quote a post from an ignored board no error message is displayed, which makes things more confusing.

This should probably be an error from @GazetaBitcoin end I had don similar before now, but had to be sure if it would work again.

Okay, like I have noticed that, as long as I ignored a profile, I will not be able to view their posts but the profile can successfully view my post, and the other thing is that, it is a bit hard to know whether you are been ignored by someone if the person didn't announce it publicly or telling the reasons why he/she decided to ignore the profile.

Yes you are right. It is impossible to tell if someone is ignoring you, even if they announce it publicly (as they might be lying). Its a feature that depends on individual discretion and cannot be verified.

I just merited you with you on ignore just to verify as you have insinuated.

The OP on that post you quoted was actually not able to do many things. He doesn’t get the error message when quoting an ignore board and so on while others could, so probably it is an error from his end.

If someone ignores you, you can send merit to the person, it will go successfully.
You can also add that if you ignore someone, you can't send merit to the person you ignored, and the topic on someone's ignored boards can't also be merited. I guess it's worth adding, even if it's not part of the question.

You can actually merit a post or thread of someone you ignore without having to unignore the person just like how the quoting of such person is. You will see the place where the merit and quote bar is shows the show/Hide icon, if you click that icon the merit and quote bar will show up and you can do both. But the user post won’t still be visible until you click on the quote icon or if some quote the person on the thread or another, and you wish to merit that ignored user’s post without having to unignore him totally.

For ignoring someone mistakenly, this is common to mobile phone users.
Ah!  I was wondering how the hell OP had ignored a member by accident, and not that you mention it I think I do recall my fat-ass thumbs doing exactly that some years ago when I'd access the forum from my smartphone.  Yet another argument as to why Theymos should make a mobile-friendly version of bitcointalk instead of having others make homebrew solutions.

I have observed that on this forum there are some functions that are on every profile and the function is called the ignored list. I have come to notice that there are so many people that have been ignored by others based on the kind of things they do or if they are not worthy of being trusted, and so on.
How in the world would you be able to know who's got who on their ignore list unless they specifically wrote it in a post?  Just curious; I'm not aiming the flamethrower in your direction.

As you can see in this image I used a reference ignoring the op but I can still merit this user. I actually taught of something similar when I saw ops thread and then I decided to check it out for my self.

The answer is yes.

If I should add a user to my ignore list it will prevent me from seeing posts made by that user but they will still be able to view mine (unless they also decide to ignore me) and since they can see my posts it automatically means that they can send some of their Smerit to my post.

I have successfully move the topic like you said.

Yes, exactly, I mostly use mobile phone to Bitcointalk because I can take it anywhere like traveling and at work place. However, for now I just have a mobile phone but am planning to get a good system that I can use freely for Bitcointalking.

I came here with an interesting discussion and I don't know if these dialogue have been discussed here before or this is the first time.

I have observed that on this forum there are some functions that are on every profile and the function is called the ignored list. I have come to notice that there are so many people that have been ignored by others based on the kind of things they do or if they are not worthy of being trusted, and so on.

Now, my question is, can someone who is ignored merit the same person that ignored him/her without knowing that he/she was ignored? And will the merits still go to the profile that ignored the merit receiver?

Why I asked the question was because, some days ago, I was scrolling through some interesting discussions and I saw a profile that said unignore. It was like I ignored the profile without myself knowing, then I unignore the profile. (Because I don't want any profile to be on such a list on my profile).

The obvious answer to that question is YES,  forum members actually put other members on ignore list without even noticing it and sometimes come to notice it when they actually come across such profile again when they are trying to read or surf the forum like said. Well, about receiving merits from the supposed users you  ignored, I think it very possible because the users wasn't the person that actually ignored you so technically it very possible for the ignored users to give you merit if your posts and thread are worth it.
