Another community maintained list with a bit more info can be found here:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/list-bitcointalks-escrow-providers-ranking-blacklist-avoid-scam-276897

It can't be that well maintained if John (John K.) is number 1 on there currently. The other trusted escrow list should be updated too really.

Never said well maintained.  Just community maintained.

I think you need to get the community to maintain it then Grin. Something as important as an escrow list should always be as up to date as possible.

Just be aware that escrows -can- scam you, so only use people that are approved and on the list that hilariousandco linked.

There's a list of trusted escrows here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/escrow-list-108716

Some charge and some are free, but tips are usually welcomed.

Hello all,

I'm hoping to do my first trade this week for BTC, and would obviously prefer to use escrow.

I've searched the forums as best I can (the keyword escrow doesn't exactly narrow things down) but I am having difficulty finding some really basic info...

What is the usual charge or % for escrow?
Where can I find a list of recommended people to ask for the service?

Thanks for any help,

Rit.
