My point was that even you had the feature you're asking and even if everyone would ignore the obvious privacy issues, you still wouldn't get what you want. I routinely leave 20 Bitcointalk tabs open while I work on something. Forget it. Use the watchlist and stop trying to turn this into yet another twitfacechat.

IIRC, we had that feature back in the day but it was a bit hidden since you had to go to the "Members" page then go over the "view all members [currently disabled]" tab and simply scroll over thousands of names in the list before you could find the one you're looking for.

  • I can't recall if we had to hover over the names or a certain icon in order to see that information [couldn't find any SS or an archive page since it's a private page].
  • AFAIK, we never had that feature under the "search for members" tab.

@jamyr
- Not sure if that page was disabled for that same reason or as part of something else, but I have a strong feeling we're not going to get it back any time soon.

Well I guess if that feature was available and have been removed. It's time to do what the moon says, forget. Thanks SFR10!

It may be stupid for you, but unlike you who most of the time answer with a finality whenever you respond to a post, there are threads that are very informative (for the stupid me).
Its easier to look down than to look up.(just saying) Maybe climb down from where you're at, and look from down here. Do you know what its like to wait for a conclusive answer? Maybe not, since it is you who give the conclusions most of the time.

Brilliant. Perhaps the forum should also stream every user's webcam feed and share their screen on user profile so that we would know exactly what everyone is doing at any time.

. . .

This reminds me of when texts and stuff first started telling people it had been read. It does nothing more than let you know your being ignored...

. . .

To know your being ignored is better than not knowing at all.
(again my stupid self feels this way)

The point is it doesn't matter knowing whether a stranger just ignored engaging further in the discussion or not, except maybe hurting your feelings  Wink. It changes nothing in the forum.

 Grin
It hurts you know Cheesy , to wait indefinitely Cheesy

I prefer instant notifications like the mention and notification bots a couple of members created.

Will think of doing the same, thanks!

If it shows that he is no longer interested (example the feature would show the user is engaged somewhere else) then, I will not look forward to his reply. I mean
seriously, if you really mean what you put in your post, would you not be watching the answers/responses you may get?

***I know we have the watchlist for that.
Not everyone uses the watchlist. I personally don't use it. By the time one gets back to the discussion after being in active for a few hours, it's a little too late for them to rejoin. I prefer instant notifications like the mention and notification bots a couple of members created.

How would you go about implementing such a thing? At every page load you'd need to send the server the thread you loaded, and only if the forum lists you as online. Still, this would generate hundreds of requests per second that the server hardware now has to process and the network speed may not be fast enough to send all those requests without lagging page loading for everyone.

Stop trying to see my nipples. I mean I wear a shirt when I'm posting.

This reminds me of when texts and stuff first started telling people it had been read. It does nothing more than let you know your being ignored... or they are doing something else. the forum isn't "real-time" if someone doesn't neurotically click on the "Show new replies to your posts" link then it might be a while before you get an answer or hear back.

Sometimes I actually decide to think about a response before posting so it may be a day or two before I get back to someone. Other times I like to leave time for others to chime in on a thread rater than me and OP going back and forth for the first 8 replies. This seems like an unnecessary use of forum resources. Not to mention I would probably break it on one of my bored evening when I randomly just click around the forum looking for anything to read or look into.

It's not necessary and looks creepy  Cheesy

Not really a necessity but creepy, I don't think so.

So what happens if you got to know that the person didn't respond to you and decided to read another topic? Do you crucify him/her?
How do you even tell if the person just ignored replying you or they just forgot to come back to the thread.

Remember the forum has no notification feature that could alert someone they were quoted or mention?

Yes, one of which is that someone doesn't want to answer anymore.

Anyways, just my opinion. Smiley Thanks.

For example, you ask me a question or an inquiry and I left you hanging. Would you not be interested to know?

Not really; someone could be replying or reading another thread before answering, or has decided to answer later or is simply looking for some reference in other threads/boards.... There are many reasons someone may take a while to answer. Now, for any actual real useful application of this.... I can't really think of something, and it will most likely take some resources that could be used elsewhere.

But whyyyyyy?

Like you can check someone's recent topics and recent posts why would people want to know exactly where others are?

For example, you ask me a question or an inquiry and I left you hanging. Would you not be interested to know?
