@OP: You better do what they have suggested as it is the best and safest solution to know/check if the site is not scam and it won't cost you btc at all. Also your stored BTC won't get scammed or become a victim of getting your BTC scammed and don't ever share your private keys to anyone or you'll lose your btc in that wallet.

^Many websites ask to connect to metamask and if your wallet is empty, it's better to login with such wallet rather than another wallet which has money. Better remove such wallets (that have some money) and backup the seed and then login to such sites.

Can anybody give the sertain answer? Is it safe or not? Metamask says that it's okay that some websites might want connect to account.
The only thing to worry about is that you're opened an actual site not a fake one.

Yes some sites actually require login like this for example IIRC Cryptokitties once did when I tried it. But there is still risk present as you share control with the site.

So in such cases in order to avoid a huge loss just login with new metamask wallet (but don't forget to backup your earlier wallet) and fund it with the amount you want to send to that site. End of the problem  Smiley

I believe you are in a great risk every time you put your private key in a certain site.
Even in decentralized exchanges, I have a little doubt using their service as I need to put my private key but we don't have an option, we need to put our private key to be able to access the site and good thing that there are more positive feed back and somehow that gives an ease to us.

Make your research first on the site, and seek for users feed back before proceeding, this is to ensure you'll not regret whatever happens.

It's more than OK to log in with metamask because you won't lose any money so long as you don't confirm any transactions that are initiated there after.
Your private keys to your accounts won't be compromised too when you login

Like the thread says, I am trying to view the content of a project I just found.
The site is https://app.zeex.me/
It is asking me to login to my MetaMask to view the site. The project claims to sell gift cards in exchange for cryptos, I found it interesting and wanted to have a closer look.

Am I being paranoid? Can a site in case of a vulnerability steal my Metamask login details or the tokens on my account?

You can log in with no worries. Private keys won't be exposed in the first place.

My only concern is, we don't know how legit their service.

That reason is enough not to pursue your interest there unless you really want to push it and deal with the risks.

Also, their token is not listed yet any exchanges and this is mostly the big issue of zeex holder's according to their announcement thread it should be listed last April in some exchanges but until now there is no news or post from their team.

It is safe till they didn't ask for your Private Key. Never share your password and Private Key

The site is asking for access of Metamask because it requires to purchase or send funds to that site owner.

For example: you have to open Metamask to purchase goods on that site. Select good, click on buy, site will ask to pay money (definately using Metamask) and then Metamask will ask you to proceed payment.

It is safe. You can login to the website using metamask.
It is impossible to perform any transaction without your confirmation.

If you are stil skeptical and have doubts about it, turn off the metamask plugin. You will be able to browse the website without being asked to login.

CoinMetro - the future of exchanges
As mentioned (just good with more confirmations), metamask only exposes your public key when you login with it.
after that, the site can initiate transactions that you have to confirm in metamask - so make sure you know what the transactions are doing.
but you can login without any worry.

if you're worried about that, you can create a dummy metamask account before you use the website. anyway, afaik metamask won't expose your private key to those sites, just give them some details like what you did with connecting metamask to idex or something similar. but this is assuming there's no hack or exploit that could make you lose your private key details when you use metamask.

I haven't tried the website but I don't think it's a scam. I'm not familiar with MetaMask that much, but it does look like one of these websites that offer you trading from your wallet directly like Switcheo does. It's just a more convenient way of trading really and the website is just using an API to interact with your wallet, private keys shouldn't be exposed.

Never give your private key to other site. If it is asking your private key, more likey it is trying to scam your account. Try with a newly created address if you want to test it.
