To make things clear, Vietnam didn't legalize Bitcoin, and will likely never do so. Instead, they have shown their hostility towards crypto currencies by prohibiting their usage. The move from universities in Vietnam to accept Bitcoin payments from that point can be seen as them breaking the law, and thus get a hefty fine as result (I hope not of course, but it's a very likely scenario). From that point it's a very daring action, but at least it shows that they aren't letting the government dictate them entirely, and that's what I have a lot respect for. If more entities have the guts to do so, it will slowly but surely show the government that they can't just continue to mess with everyone....

Time consuming process using manual payment system can eliminate delays and errors of the record, due to blockchain network is already traceable if ever there were discrepancies with the transactions made. The education system can be so easy for the parent to adopt and no reasons for them to be overdue, because this will have to be linked to their respective mobile devices to be entitled to personal notifications.

Oh well this is a welcoming news if indeed it is true. I think this is a great move since there are a lot of exchange or foreign students who are studying in most Asia region because the tuition is very cheap in there but the education standards are very high. I also hope that foreign students will take advantage of this kind of payment method, they don't need to bring USD or Euro in them, just a simple scan of their QR and they are done.

It's a good news but still there are some news that are rounding on the internet and says that Vietnam bans bitcoin for being use as payment for everything. That is a good news for a University to accept such tuition fees in a cryptocurrency they really want to engage on the crypto world. Is FPT University in Vietnam a Marketing School? Hope that many would also engaged to accept bitcoin as a form of tuition fees. Poor students. They cannot pay their tuition with their bitcoins now that the Vietnam Central Bank already decided to prohibit the acceptance of bitcoin as payment method. That's really sucks. This only proves that they cannot manage to control and regulate cryptocurrency with their own hand.

Anyway, Bitcoin is not totally banned there (i guess). Because i see that they are just pointing out the ban of bitcoin for payment method. So i believed that Bitcoin is not totally banned there. But this is a bad sign for bitcoin there.

It's totally banned and if that isn't completely ban they won't charge $9,000 if someone violate's the law.

Thats no wonder why bitcoin is getting so popular now a days. Just look at that, an institute, a teaching hub is happy to receive the tuition fees in terms of bitcoin and how the world might be looking at it! very surprisingly and we actually need such surprises to keep the bitcoin in the race of billion USD in next 10 to 20 years! That way we can get more investors into bitcoin community and by seeing such legit customers of bitcoin (the university) one can easily start seeing the bitcoin as legit entity. I mean see the chain of event here, university accepting bitcoin means students are getting to know new currency and indirectly there parents will com to know about it and thus their neighbours and then the news in next days newspaper. It's going to boost their image in terms of technology adoption or their willingness to actually use practical Fintech, people are going to have more payment options whether or not many people embrace it, and it's completely their business decision. I have a doubt that it will truly shut off bitcoin transactions into vietnam. I can't think of a way for officials to detect who's person is using crypto and who's not.
Looks like Vietnam is looking for additional funds for the country's treasury since they raised up the penalty to whooping $9000. However, it's still useless if they can't find these people that are into bitcoin.
I'm glad that as of now, that PH doesn't stand on bitcoin restriction.

They can't regulate and monitor the bitcoin transactions there and it will not be fully shut down. They are just trying to announce that it is now illegal to them to put fear to the traders out there that will start to use it and those students that has bitcoin will be feeling down or else they have to sell it off for paying their tuition fee and other school fees.

Its again a good news about bitcoins. Authorities have started bringing bitcoin into maximum all the systems. Obviously, its a good option for the students come from abroad who have bitcoin and spend for the studies. I am sure, in 2-3 years max, almost all countries would accept bitcoin and its transactions. Will wait , watch and support when it happens.

Well the mosst important thing is the quality of this tuition and the whole education in general. I still won't recommend anyone to attend universities (untill you are 100% sure that you will get any kind of unique knowledge there). Imho the best way to educate yourself is to personaly contact repped profesors (like via coursera) and pay them directly with bitcoins.
But anyway accepting BTC by any offline institution is still a positive sign.

This is very good news. Amazing to see bitcoin advance to such an extent that a university now offers their degrees and courses paid for with it.

Hopefully in a decade or so colleges in the US will list it as an alternative payment method for those who don't have a bank account or a credit card. Imagine getting a Stanford or Caltech degree paid for with bitcoin.

I'm assuming of course that this university in Vietnam is simply using it as a bridging method to get their Vietnamese Dongs which is still king for them. Cash is king in most if not all Asian countries. As soon as bitcoin is paid to their wallet, they probably trade it immediately for fiat. I don't believe they store or hoard the bitcoins as a form of investment for the university.

Interesting news. I remember that in my country one university also accepts bitcoin as a payment for tuition. It's also possible to pay with Ethereum and Dash. But the problem that this university isn't popular and prestigious, and I don't think that many students paying with btc.

Good news for some foreign student there. But according to that article it is a trial and error process they were trying it if it will succeed. And I hope that is the stepping stone for other countries to use bitcoin as payment on any stores places and schools like in vietnam.

That's good, but take into your mind that they convert the bitcoin into fiat right after they receive it.

They don't really accept bitcoin, they keep fiat, not bitcoin.

I am waiting for the day that companies who accept bitcoin will keep the bitcoin they receive to the long run(I know they need to pay bills but at least they can keep a small percent of the bitcoin they receive).

Reading the article further gives an insight to what is being talked about by the university official and its really something that is worth commending considering the group of student that reference is made to in the article. Education should not be too expensive to get so far you have the fund whether in fiat, electronic or digital as such.

This surely a landmark one but I doubt if it will command the attention we all seek for it because if it had been a country like the United States, we then have the popularity that a lot of intending students will have to consider for post graduate degrees.

Their was also another news about a university accepting bitcoin but the school fully supported it stating to make advantages on how bitcoin works. But i think in this case, their were many opponents that states how it is not legal. I think once you knew how bitcoin works even if your student, it could also help in some financial status. But the schools concern maybe is they really cont control students about their own ideas on bitcoin.

Reading the article further gives an insight to what is being talked about by the university official and its really something that is worth commending considering the group of student that reference is made to in the article. Education should not be too expensive to get so far you have the fund whether in fiat, electronic or digital as such.

This surely a landmark one but I doubt if it will command the attention we all seek for it because if it had been a country like the United States, we then have the popularity that a lot of intending students will have to consider for post graduate degrees.

Nice, if that is confirmed that's going to be a big news all over the region in FPT university and also for the whole country of Vietnam. Well I do care for those people that will use bitcoin but yes, the most important thing now is that they are using bitcoin and adopted it to their payment system and this is going to be a big blast to the whole crypto world and will make the price of bitcoin higher again.

I think this is good news for vietnam people if there is a university in the university willing to accept payment with bitcoin this is a new breakthrough for payment using bitcoin. and I think there will be changes to the economic development in the country because of course bitcoin will become more known in Vietnam so that it can trigger other parties or institutions that follow the payment system using bitcoin. this is indeed a remarkable breakthrough.

This is indeed a good news for bitcoin users. It only shows that bitcoin is being advertised in their country. It will help also students to learn about bitcoin. I hope it will be used by other schools too or other establishments.

And yet another country from Asia implements Bitcoin as a payment method for other than digital goods. Hopefully, other countries in the world will follow the trend.

it's not like they're 14yo kids, they are old enough to know the consequences of using bitcoin and how volatile it can be.
