It's not a bad idea though, but with Nigeria current economic situation, we might be able to predict the future already. Lol.  I wonder what fuel price would be in 2025.. also, predict on something else like who will rule Nigeria in the next 4 years after president Bola tinibu? We already know who wins at such events..
The option for an event is meant to be more specific. It's not a yes or no something. So, we cannot say we can easily predict the price event of a particular thing accurately that is why it is meant to be betting. It's easy when we say the price of things will go up or down, apart from Nigeria alone it can also be easy to predict things like this in other countries. Historically speaking we all know that we have never experience deflation for some time now and we are certain that 2025 there will still be inflation.

Any gambling platform that allows gamblers bet on political and economic events will definitely be getting more losses than gains. With the level of corruption in Nigeria, anyone can easily predict the direction the whole country is going and which candidate will win an election.
There are Nigerian betting sites that allow Nigerians to bet on Nigerian presidential election. I do not know of now because I left Nigerian betting sites for a foreign betting site and later betting on crypto betting sites like Stake.com which are still foreign sites. This will not let me know what is going on locally on the betting sites. But when I was actively betting on Nairabet, there used to be presidential election there. But I only see it like Stake.com but with limit to such bet unlike how it is on Polymarket. I see them as sites that think it will not pay them and only look for very important one like the presidential election probably to let people know them more. If people bet more on Trump, I believe Stake may even lose but which can easily be recovered from casinos and sport betting which can be how those Nairabet think if also.

Seasonals greetings to everyone here, I'm so happy to participate on this thread, lack of unemployment in Nigeria has make betting look as if they take half of Nigeria and that is why platform concerning betting is trending almost over Nigeria.
Because the harm of betting, that is why in some northern states betting shops is closed by northern states government.

With the level of corruption in Nigeria, anyone can easily predict the direction the whole country is going and which candidate will win an election. Almost everything is very easy to predict once these gamblers know where the candidates belong. Everything now is politics, including matters that affect the nation's economy.

Nigerians are very creative and hardworking. If these betting options will cause traffic or seem appealing to gamblers in Nigeria, we would be having lots of Polymarkets in Nigeria. I don't think a version of Polymarket will be successful in Nigeria.

I am not all that familiar with Polymarket but The honest truth is that when ever bet is involved then you should count Nigeria in. The country has strong affinity to betting, betting companies has always thrived in the Nigerian Market but an opportunity to bet on any event would be one that Nigerians won't pass by so yes I think it would be a success if it gets more popular here.

The platform will lose more when it comes to politics in Nigeria, especially that of the Presidential election, before any concluded election or  going out to cast votes, without becoming sentimental due to own choice of competitor, we already can tell who will finally be the ruler, our way of owning this power is majorly the reason why it will be a bad investment for the company, it's either this way or no other way, a just candidate can publicly assert that it is his time to rule Nigeria and we all see it happen.

Predictions on Dangote fuel price that is still controlled by the Government, it will be a hard one to predict.

This sounds funny though but it's actually the truth. I used to tell people that Nigeria is not yet matured to imitate western standards so we should just manage the things that are within our capacity than trying to buy any foreign idea of doing things. Nigeria is very much predictable as to their next move of actions, so introducing the polymarket may lead to controversy because almost everyone in the country has lost belief that things will change suddenly as a result of how past events went, people can basically predict what will happen next in the country. Predictions like what the price of fuel would be and who will become president of the country in the next 4 years can easily be predicted since the sentiment of people in the country do not really matter to our government because they consider their own decision before listening to any other party.

It is going to be funny with polymarket in Nigeria lol. One thing self be say corruption fit no make am work for naija just as Americans don dey critcize of being biase and influencing the results not to talk of Nigeria wey everything just dey Jaga and no accountability. If dem get such system to predict election results like you talk am we already know the results of the future occurrence in Nigeria.

However, I know go surprise to see some ludicrous and ridiculous options like:

1. Which Nigerian governor go die for office?

2. Which the president wey go dey elected go die for office? Yes or No?

3. Which National Assembly member go die for office in 2025?

The question is "who will bell the cat?" Polymarket is taking huge risk in promoting some of the bets we know because some of them are obvious bets that people bet millions on. Which company will have the morale to shoulder such huge payouts considering the predictive nature of the Nigerian system like in election which we know that the rulling party will likely have their way. Well they can host events in entertainment as that is the only place that seems unpredictable at the moment but will there be a company that will be willing to take such risk.

It will not work for country like Nigeria because of there system, other countries in the world may have it because there system is highly unpredictable and coordinated on election and some other things but in Nigeria you can close your eyes and tell what will happen because for several presidential elections we no who will be the winner after primary and we have not even talk about state level were the exiting governor will use his hand to pick who will succeed him or is it the aspect of fuel prices that we all no that the country has price slogan that says that what goes up will not come down, so there is no gambling company will like Polymarket in Nigeria unless they want bankrupt because you don't need strategy or luck to win, so Nigerians will leave online gambling for it, so actually the only one I consider wordy is the crypto aspect since it has nothing to with the country and is a general market which we cannot easily predict and I don't even believe that anybody will like it because is worst than gambling since is a prediction because you are only giving a room to predict the exact price of Bitcoin at a point and anything extra is a lost and we no that Bitcoin can even move numerous times a day, so this Polymarket thing is no no for me now in this our beloved country.

Yeah, I can remember vividly a signature campaign that came on the forum sometimes ago which it's called futuur, they provide similar service where you bet on the future including politics, sports and other real life events.

also, predict on something else like who will rule Nigeria in the next 4 years after president Bola tinibu? We already know who wins at such events..
The odd provided with such events where you already knows the results as well the outcomes are pretty much too low precisely especially in the case of presidential election event, the major disadvantages are the results often takes time show especially on the real life events but it's that more fun to participate in it.

Polymarket has been making a lot of waves in the world. So I am thinking, Nigeria is a unique place with different events happening, why can't we have a kind of equivalent of it. If we do will you make your predictions there on events happening? I think we can make predictions on Dangote fuel price, some economic political, and crypto related events too.

I think I share the same sentiment as you bro, I believe that they might be successful on the aspect of football betting, but in real life events especially in Nigeria, they will definitely not like the possible outcome of most predictions just as @hatchy has already said, it's very easy to predict the final outcome of political event and other real life activities in the country, but anyhow, if truly they want to explore the Nigerian market, it wouldn't be that rossy as they are normally used to in other part of the world, that's what I can bet on.
Then lastly, this our present government is too predictable when it comes to taxing, so as for now, I believe that this polymarkerters wouldn't see it as a big deal, but when the Nigerian market is not giving them the kind of income they were expecting, they will certainly have a rethink if it's worth it or not.
