You can choose to delete the thread if no one has seen the thread. Besides that, you could change the OP to ask for mods to archive it.

I suppose just having a lock on the thread would be enough.

You can't. Unless the you and OP both PM theymos with an agreement, there is pretty much a zero percent chance that said thread will get transferred. I don't think (or at least remember) any exceptions done by theymos although you're free to search around or just PM theymos.

I cannot lock or change that inital thread. I can control only the thread about DMD Diamond which we have created after this coin takeover.

This initial abandoned thread s been created by the old dev who s not around for years.

Did you try to report it to be moved to archival?
There's no need to report. Anyone can move their thread to archival (and have no right to move them to its child board though).

BTW can you post the link to the thread? This could help.

Read what he's saying. He didn't create the thread; an old dev did so that's why he can't do anything about it. I would contact an admin as they can transfer ownership, merge or decide what to do with it but it wont be deleted. Best likely option would be a merge of the two threads and transfer ownership over to you but you'd have to make your case to an admin for that to happen.
Merging rarely happens as the feature was coded in as an addon and as such is rather clunky and messy in SMF.

As far as I know, it is possible to delete a topic. IF no one else has replied in the topic you create though.
But you can ask mods  to help you to move the topic to the Archival.

Change the OP stating the reason why you want it moved, then report the thread with a shortened reason with the link to the OP, something like "No longer needed please trash this or send this to archive, read the OP for why I want it removed". Well these worked for me.

Hey guys,

is there a way to delete abandoned thread on BTT. I am a member of DMD Diamond dev team and since this coin was initially developed by a dev who abandoned it before we took over, there is still a BTT thread about Diamond set up by that initial dev. The problem is that the thread is indexed by Google and gets shown as the first search for Diamond coin keywords. That old thread is not functional, none of the links work and the person who set it up is not reachable, he has not been present on BTT for almost 2 years.

In general, the tread provides no accurate info, links re dead and I d like to know if it s possible to delete it or change it in any way. If not, what s the official policy on dead BTT threads, when do they expire?

Thx

You cannot Delete your thread in this forum although u can edit any of your post or delete your sub-post in the main topic..
But u cannot delete your thread.
Instead u can LOCK your thread or edit your thread topic in your desired way so that the users will know what currently your topic states..

Or instead request a mod to move your thread to Archival if ur thread has no sense atlast..

Edit : Oh whenever i m typing a new person always has a post above me..
eg. here ranochigo's post :!

I don't think there is a way especially if it has lots of posts. You can ask a mod to move it to archival though. I don't think the alternate cryptocurrencies section is moderated well though.
