A 4x splitter is useful when you have lanes but not slots. I'd use a x4 to 4 x1 splitter, not the one shown.

I don't really understand why to use this adapter on a gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3P motherboard?
Do you want to connect 6-7 video cards with this adapter?
I'm sure this is not the best idea, because you will not build a reliable mining farm in this way.

yes they work. 

be aware that without something to secure them they want to flop around due to the wire stiffness.  can be a problem.   they do warm up somewhat but the heatsink on them seems to handle it.

For GPUs can work in that motherboard without splitter just connect risers to the 2 x1 slots and the 2 x16 slots I have that motherboard gigabyte p55 and I am able to use 4 3060s on the motherboard if you want a pic for verification I can send you one
