Hello,

Current status of this project is that it the first implementation was launched on Oct. 1, 2015.  You can see the details at http://abis.io

The implementation is in the BCN GUI wallet.

Future implementations are anticipated in decentralized market(s), a decentralized currency exchange, and bitcoin wallet(s) [as well as in other currency systems].

Hello,

This is an update to the ABIS project development.

An implementation is now developing which you can see here:

https://bytecointalk.org/showthread.php?tid=82

It will be available in a GUI wallet.

Please feel free to comment in the thread shown above.

The exact date of release is not yet certain, but December of 2015 is an anticipated timeframe for when it will come out, or possibly sooner depending on the testing process in development.

Thanks for any comments and support you may provide.

Hello,

This project -- http://abis.io -- was soft-launched on Github and Github Gist  and has had an indiegogo fundraiser which ended March 30, 2014.
Website: http://abisprotocol.github.io/ABIS/
Current supporters:  Cryptostorm

What is ABIS / Cryptocurrencies for Good?

Cryptocurrencies for Good aims to empower anyone, anywhere (including you!) to make small donations to multiple individuals or organizations - as part of any transaction that they choose.  Furthermore, it doesn't impose anything on you, it allows you to specify what individuals or organizations you want to give to, and how much you want them to receive. You would specify when this would happen (for example, if you wanted this to happen only when you make a purchase of greater than 30 dollars).  Every aspect of it is tailored to occur however you want in a way that allows you to redefine the idea of "purchase" or "transaction."   This project works in a voluntary manner and thus avoids levels of coercion that are embedded in typical centralized systems.  This makes it fundamentally different than how people transact today. The project focuses on decentralized virtual protocols so as to help people understand how giving can be done anywhere, at any time.  The project literally aims to alter the entire financial system.

Isn't this just another tipping system?  Is it yet another coin?

This is not another "tipping" project.  It is intended literally to liberate and transform the entire transactional experience, placing empowerment in the hands of the user.  This is not another new coin, and it does not require specialized hardware.  It can be implemented from a simple mobile phone.

Plans were in the works for the project to receive funding by May or June of 2014, though this schedule was not completed. Initially, it was projected that an early version in the form of a working wallet would be made available by January of 2015, however, it is now anticipated that a wallet with the ABIS / Cryptocurrencies for Good feature will emerge by December of 2015.  The result of Cryptocurrencies for Good will be the wallet technology with the "giving feature," which by (estimated) December of 2015, would be a free tool available to anyone around the globe who would want to explore giving and sharing possibilities further.  In other words, the project provides a tool to anyone who might want to voluntarily support anything that needs their support, as part of any purchase or other transaction.  It will be free and open source - period.

What do we seek from you?

We hope you'll check out our project, and spread the word about it - and if you'd like, go to http://abis.io and donate today!

Where have you taken this idea already?

We have already been invited to present to:
Plug and Play Tech Center / Bitcoin Plug and Play at http://plugandplaytechcenter.com/ - http://bitcoin.plugandplaytechcenter.com/
- We requested 50 BTC from the Tech Center folks in the form of donations after having pitched the project to them. They indicated that they would not be funding the project.  It was a good experience to have made the pitch there.

Bitcoin Foundation https://bitcoinfoundation.org/ - We've submitted a grant proposal to the Bitcoin Foundation to help fund the project. We won't know until sometime in April 2014 as to whether or not our request in the form of a grant proposal will be funded by the Bitcoin Foundation.  [Edit:  The project was not funded by the Bitcoin Foundation.]

We've turned down some people too, who wanted us to come and present or who wanted us to offer them a "Return on Investment" in exchange for their investment in the project.  The concept of "social return," or "social reward" is much on our mind in development of this project, with "ROG" - "Reward of Giving" - as an alternative to standard "ROI/Return on Investment" models.  This is donation based and the project is a labor of love, and a free and open source project.

What if you get very little to no funding?

That does make it harder to pay anyone who is actually interested in working on (developing) or maintaining the project, of course.  We will continue to work to fundraise to support the project. Fortunately, dedicated people continue to work on this as a labor of love - funding will just allow us to put more raw talent to work on this and make sure that we are able to deliver the free and open source result to everyone faster.  Whatever we get will eventually feed dedicated programmers/coders who help the project, via a tip4commit (http://tip4commit.com/) and / or bithub (https://github.com/WhisperSystems/BitHub) model, or simply direct donations to dedicated programmers involved in implementations of ABIS in GUI wallet(s).

What if I want to donate right now to this wonderful project?

The bitcoin address to donate to is shown on our project page - go to http://abis.io   For other donation types, pm for details.

Thank you!
