Sweeping keys simply means you take all bitcoins from this private bitcoin address, and move them into one of our existing bitcoin addresses. This is a safer more preferred method over importing keys to your wallet.

Saw this one in this blog here link. You might find something useful in here.

Btw, why did someone else has access to your private keys?

The safest way here is for you to change your old address to the new one. Or if there is really no way for you to stop the incoming coins from your old wallet then once you got the coins transfer it immediately to your new wallet.

yeah only the old one is unsafe, and you should send asap your fund on the new address, which is bound to a new private key, which should be safe

but usually if you're private key was stolen, you have not the time to do this thing

I would like to use new address, and I will, but I get regular small payments on old address. There is a way how to generate new private key and still keep that old address? I dont wanna loose it.  I see blockhain.info have '''sweep key'''  what its mean?

My old private key know one trusted bitcointalk member, so im not worry too much but who knows?

Ok Im happy that my all other btc is save and I can lost only what is on old address and its not much.

Thanks

if it is for small payment only you can keep it, as long as the fund leave that address each time you get enough, maybe it's not even compromised like you think

you can't associate different private key with the same address, private key are derivated from public key which is a derivated from an address

For example :

I was using electrum wallet and bitcoin address for example 1kjgjmbvnnDndkjFKDJGKDGJKGJKGD .

Now I open blockchain.info wallet and import this 1kjgjmbvnnDndkjFKDJGKDGJKGJKGD to my new blockchain wallet.

Now I have two active address in bitcoin wallet. One, this old 1kjgjmbvnnDndkjFKDJGKDGJKGJKGD and one new.

I have in my new wallet for example 0.10 btc total. Received in both active address 0.05 each.

Question is :

If some one know my old address private key ( if you know private key you can control that address right? ) Hi can spend only what is on this address? for example 0.05 and others btc is save right?

I dont know how to explain better.

Thanks

I don't quite understand your question about the old private key Can you explain more?

EDIT: Are you asking if someone who knows your private address can spend your coins? If they have access to that wallet of yours then yes, they can send/ pend all your balance.

Btw, in your new wallet if you use the new address then you can receive payments in it, now if ylu use the old wallet address from the old private key then it can also have a transaction if you use it.

Hello,

I import my old wallet bitcoin address to new wallet.

Question is, if I have in the wallet for example 0.10 balance. And someone know my private key of old address. Its pasibble to resend on spend my all balance? Or just what I had receive on this old address?

Also if I import my old address to my new wallet, and receiving payments in new wallet, so in old wallet its not going transactions to this old address?

Thanks
