i am trying to buy antminer s3
and some body told me mining btc is dead

what u guys think??

Its not dead but its not profitable..

It's not profitable for people who have to buy ASICs.  For those who can make them (the publicly funded but now privately farming entities) it is very profitable.

Mining BTC for the home user is almost dead.  Mining BTC for private farms who have millions of dollars to throw at it hoping to make millions in profit is very much alive.  So since you're talking about a single S3 yeah it is borderline on return.  Now an S3 farm with 2000 units hashing away with cheap power and unlimited arctic air for cooling - that's uber profitable.

If you purchase it, don't expect to turn a profit unless you dont pay power costs.

You're visiting a very active Bitcoin forum and you are wondering if it is dead. Do you see the absurdity in this?

Maybe you're wondering if mining is dead? Yes, for most people it is.
