But from that very same sticky....

- When you post, you must have a clear point. If you ramble on about nothing, then your post will be deleted.

May be the coffee talking, but I'm sort of starting to see the clarification here. (Still, reported post had no clear point, but this was not a "got a bad report so now I cry" thread)

I may add, this thread was intended to get some general guidelines about what should or not go there; not discussing a particular report

The guidelines are in the sticky

There is not so much restriction to what might be discussed there, so long as it meets the standards. There is nothing that points out that is supposed to be a board for only Bitcoin related discussion

Humor is OK as long as it has a point. Any topic of conversation is allowed here, including altcoin talk, except:

 - If you want a response from forum administration, meta talk goes in Meta.
 - Altcoin talk that is advertisement/pump is not allowed, since no advertisement is allowed here.
 - Stuff globally disallowed/restricted (eg. Investigations content) is not allowed.

Did you report it for low value or did you report it to be moved to another section?
IIRC, for both. Anyhow, the report text is a simple help to the moderator, and unless it's extremely off, it shouldn't be marked as bad based on that...

I just got a report marked as bad on a thread that had nothing to do with bitcoin, and was really not a serious thing in my oppinion,

Did you report it for low value or did you report it to be moved to another section?

It's been well over a year since I visited SD or IT.  Has it gotten any better in either section?  Are threads like the one you quoted common, or is that just an outlier in terms of quality?

AFAIK Those boards were Theymos' idea, and they don't seem to have worked very well (unlike the merit system, which in my opinion is quite good).

There is a mishmash of topics, some more interesting than others but with no common theme and little traffic.

IMO, a thread started with that post does not belong in Serious Discussion.  If that was posted in another section, I'd even consider it a generic shitpost, because all it expresses are generic positive sentiments that are frequently written by members who don't know how to write well in English.  It's definitely not a topic of serious discussion, and not surprisingly no one has yet replied to it.

I have Serious Discussion and Ivory Tower on ignore, but for a while I didn't.  I thought when they were created that there would be some really great threads since shitposting bounty hunters and other zero-value members wouldn't post there.  After a while I started to notice that either the threads that did get started would be over my head in terms of technical knowledge or would get very few posts in them, i.e., they just didn't stay active.  Needless to say, neither section turned out to be what I thought they'd be, so I just don't bother even reading anything in them anymore.

I'm seriously starting to wonder what exactly does fit in the serious discussion board. It's really not the first time I've had this doubt, but since I just got a report marked as bad on a thread that had nothing to do with bitcoin, and was really not a serious thing in my oppinion, I'm really asking what the hell should be going on at that board to prevent any future mistakes of the same nature.

I've seen it's not a board dedicated to "only bitcoin" over the years, since there's a lot of variety in the threads. However, most of these threads could actually belong to other sections (P&S/off-topic mostly). So, what exactly is serious and what is not? What's the criteria? What the hell?

PS: post that has triggered this below

Loving football and playing from a much tender age to this extent, I just had a quick view of my past in football of the pitch and on the pitch, a little of what I have observe and learnt from football are viz;
•To believe in myself.
•Humility.
•To be patient, while trying to hunt down my goals.
•Not to give up in life, that's why we have two halves first half and second half,so as to give a second trail.
•Taught me team work and cooperation.
•Not to be selfish, while trying to get my goals.
A whole lot to say, majority are football lovers and have that which over time they have got to learn, what are viz ?
