All of these games are variations of the game of billiards. Personally, I played pool and snooker and Russian billiards as interested in these games for several years. They differ in the size of the pool table, the size of pockets for balls and the rules on which depends on the coloring of the balls and the necessary order of hitting them in pockets. If you know how to play one of these games it is not difficult to play the others.
I have never played the variations of Billiards, much less the Russian billiards, although it catches my attention, but I have never tried another way of playing more than the 3-cushion billiards that already seems to me something very complicated and that can make you kill head for a long time. I think that the trick to playing billiards well is to have very good eyesight, calculation and everything that has to do with hitting it with a "piquete" or perhaps hitting it "down and with a piquete" or "up and with a piquete "As it is said here, it is the different strategies and game mode of each person.

I thought Billiards is quite different from snooker? is it that in Russia, they prefer to call it billiards? The two are fun and entertaining but I prefer the snooker it's more popular here than Billiards. There is a pool too I guess.

Billard is very different from snooker. The one that shares resemblance with snooker is pool. Infact, most people who play pool mistake it to be snooker. I was one of them. It is of recent that I knew what I played as a kid growing up was pool and not snooker. Check this article and it will also shock you what you know https://quedos.com.au/difference-between-billiards-pool-and-snooker/ . We used to bet while playing it and those around also place bets on the players. Pool is a gamblers game, more than tennis or other games for two. A player can lose the overall game but make much money from betting as he plays on. I like it but the balls are expensive to buy and that makes charges collected to play it at local joints in my country high.

I was confused at first because the thread says Snooker game and I know that they have similarities but Billiard doesn't have a pockets like a snooker. I have visited the link you share at the glance of the first man reply I quoted but I was able to understand that we all confuse the names and games when they mean different things, just has some similarities and called Billiards(Billiard, pool, snooker) games in general. Here is a short video[1] I saw that explains everything about Billiards.

Even the ball does not have numbers on it so  yeah Billiard and Snooker will never be the same .

But saying that SNooker has different Pocket like Billiard? lol they are perfectly the same though snooker table is larger than Billiard table and also has different color combinations with no numbers on it.

and of course the rules are very far from both games.

It is my first time knowing about this game and I search it on google,
It looks similar to Billiards or Pool I only played Billiard a few times with my relatives,
Not really into it I just tried it to spend time with them but I enjoyed it even though I am not good with it.

Snooker is a purely English game of chance.

It was invented by British officers in the city of Jabalpur (India).

This was already after the famous uprising of the sepoys, in which Prince Dakkar (aka Captain Nemo, the hero of the novels of the writer Jules Verne) also took an active part.  British officers were bored in India and therefore looked for new forms of entertainment.  This is how snooker was born.

This is originally a sport of gentlemen.  Snooker is played at a leisurely pace while smoking a couple of cigars and drinking a few glasses of whiskey.

Nevertheless, this is an interesting and spectacular game of chance.

The problem with snooker games is that major companies are not investing enough on the game to make it popular. These snooker tournaments are not well publicized hence many snooker fans tend not to know about these tournaments.

You understand that snooker is barely two person's game at a spot or game so it doesn't attract for crowd , viewing is limited as such and companies are for profit they go for sports with large coverage because of sale of tickets and publicity of their business. However again snooker is indoor game that looks a little different from what large number of people know unlike football and other outdoor activities or games but snooker is fun, a good way of relaxing with friends.

I got acquainted with this game when I was a student. My friend and I liked to spend our free evenings in the billiard room playing Pyramid, or as we call this game Russian billiards. There we also learned how to play snooker.

I thought Billiards is quite different from snooker? is it that in Russia, they prefer to call it billiards? The two are fun and entertaining but I prefer the snooker it's more popular here than Billiards. There is a pool too I guess.
Yes, they're a tad different in terms of rules, but the general idea of the game is similar (or rather the same really) with billiards. I myself was confused about it really, I was actually playing snooker back then instead of Billiards.
The problem with snooker games is that major companies are not investing enough on the game to make it popular. These snooker tournaments are not well publicized hence many snooker fans tend not to know about these tournaments.

There is no hype in it like we do in other sports, having it included in the Olympics may bring out the beauty of it but that still depends on sponsors, they put money in whatever they like.
The problem is not because it's "not hyped" but rather there is "no hype" at all. It's a rather small sport if you were to compare it to what, basketball, football, etc., so it's no doubt that publicity about it would be rather scarce. Besides, if you were really interested in finding tourneys for it, pretty sure google could be a helpful source.

I'm talking about the sportsbook you are advertising in your avatar and your signature, are odds interesting to bet on snooker there and especially on the events you've quoted above? You are necessarily aware of that since you post so many messages here and you are not a spammer, right?

Not really into it I just tried it to spend time with them but I enjoyed it even though I am not good with it.

It is a game that you can play and enjoy yourself with friends. If you give more time learning it you will be better, it just require that you hit the balls with the white ball and try to push it inside the hole. More about the game is that many players do have bet or stake on it for a win. The game is guided with rules and regulations that makes it more organized.

Maybe this could be a good start https://www.rulesofsport.com/sports/snooker.html a rules about snooker. I really find this game complicated and still considering playing 8 ball billiards, I think snooker is for much more professional players if you are going to compare the table too it's more bigger and wider, right?

I think that for you to start in billiards it is necessary that you start with the classic, the three balls and practice a lot of time with it, based on my experience what is most important to have here is a good view so you can do the caroms, if you want to complicate more all this, you just have to try playing with the three balls and make 3 cushions, I think that with that you could last a long time practicing each play, that's how I started, the only thing is that I started when I was 12 years old in a bar where the owner left me play as much as I wanted, because I had certain privileges there, but it was enough to learn and defend myself, but it took me a long time to learn to play decently.

You don't have to ask your friends about a game to learn about it. There is the Internet for that. You can read about Russian billiards here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_pyramid.

In fact, I would advise you to go to a billiard room if there are such places where you live. It is impossible to learn to play billiards or other similar games without getting your own experience. It's like learning to ride a bike without a bike.

I don't really know much because I asked my friends but they didn't know either but one of my friends said he would try to find out. Maybe later he will come back and try to explain it to us.

I wonder if that Russian billiards is different from than usual billiard or if any other rules will apply?

I do rarely hear about Snooker games mentioned, if anything in gambling sections. Personally, to me, Snooker is not really all that exciting of a game. Its basically billiards with more unnecessarily complicated rules that most people don't really find all too attractive, since bringing something too complicated into a game which should have a simple foundation does take away a lot of the interest in the game.

Having said that, I prefer to stay with Billiards or "pool".
It's probably because the Snooker game is less popular, so people out there know more about billiards than Snooker. I'm also more familiar with billiards than Snooker but I'm not very good at playing billiards and want to learn billiards one day.

But, after I did a quick search on Google, I found several tournaments for Snooker. You can visit this link:
http://www.snooker.org/res/index.asp?template=2

11-14 Feb 2022 will be held in England for the Women's World Championship. And the next tournament with the title Welsh Open Qualifiers will take place on 15-20 Feb 2022 in England.
That's great. So what are the best sportsbooks to bet on those events according to you? Did you find some sportsbooks offering good odds or uncommon odds for those matches? That is to say above the ones you can find on comparators (for the favorite or for the underdog). What about the sportsbook you are promoting for example? https://www.oddsportal.com/snooker/wales/welsh-open/

Learning to play snooker is actually not as difficult as it seems and to do it you just need to have the desire and money to pay the rent of a pool table.

Yes, only those who are enthusiastic about snooker games will search for more information.

Maybe snooker fans need to introduce this game more by doing more reviews or spreading it on social media so that more people will know that apart from billiards, snooker is also a fun game. It will make the snooker game get new fans besides those who play billiards.

I don't get why all you guys keep saying that there are not a lot of casinos that you can place snooker bets on. Almost all major popular crypto casinos offer matches on snooker (Stake, Roobet, ...). Snooker is indeed super popular in UK, but it is gaining rapid popularity also in China, as some young talents are emerging from there and they started winning ranking tournaments also.

Snooker popularity according to Snooker Database is England, Scotland, Wales and China. Almost all major titles are won by England players. I don't know how big or small betting industry of snooker game is. Snooker is really taken as a game, mostly people take it as leasure time to kill time.

Yes, I definitely agree with you.

That's why it's not really popular especially on sports betting industry. Pool is more popular than snooker in most countries because it's much simpler to play than snooker. Snooker is only popular on UK that's why it will never be on sports betting, since no one would bet on the game that they never knew about. I bet it will never become famous because pool is the one that majority knows how to play.

I am not really familiar with snooker, just like the majority here I was more aware of pool and billiards. And so I do not have any knowledge regrading it and payed attention to sites that’s offering it that much. But it is a good thing that Thunderpick has included it in their site, according to @Bttzed03. OP, you could check this out.

I used to watch Snooker broadcasted on television but never really played the game. At first, I thought rules were complicated probably because I only played pool like 9-ball and 8-ball format. There were even times when we played 9-ball using a snooker table and it was harder to shoot because the pockets were smaller.

By the way, anyone interested betting on snooker games using cryptocurrencies can check Thunderpick https://thunderpick.com/en/sports/snooker

I agree with you. And it is just a practical decision and common sense to include on those popular games or widely known to the public because players would only be interested to bet on games they are familiar with. Why don’t just try shifting your focus to pool, OP? It is close to snooker and it is what’s commonly available to the sites here.

That makes sense. Based on the amount of discussion here and the thread, I believe the majority of the members are passionate about well-known sports such as basketball, football, or Esports. Regarding the bets, I believe they rely heavily on their users to determine which games they are interested in; however, I do not have much information about that particular game because I am not placing a wager on it.. The e-sports scene is something I'm really into.
Punters are usually not very interested in these kind of sports because bookmakers take more juice on less popular sports and leagues. Then if you are not a very good specialist of the sport/division you won't be able to overcome the margin and to make profits. On the other hand, bookmakers odds are usually less accurate for these small sports/categories and you can more easily find value if you are a specialist of the area.

Yes, I definitely agree with you.

What you did is right mate, it is time for us to have a Snooker Game thread, in many countries this is a popular game and many had been playing and betting for this so why not bring this here?
Now i think You need to edit the thread and let us also discuss betting as well, and sharing of the incoming competitions.
specially sites that offers gaming for snookers and Odds .
I think sooner we can also conduct  p2p betting here lol.

This thread reminds me about great Muhammad Yousaf snooker player of my country. He won 1994 IBSF World Snooker Championship, 2006 IBSF World Masters Championship, and 1998 ACBS Asian Snooker Championship. Source
Snooker was once a popular game in our region but there is hardly any international recognised snooker player in my country now. Through this thread it will help all of us to get some insight of what's going on in snooker World.

I agree, I was also wondering how the review sites will be able to provide information about the players who will be playing, their performances, everything about the player and how people who place bets will be able to load this information and put it into practice to place bets and How do people have so much time to spend watching the pool game? These are things I can't do in the case of snooker

Yeah that is it most time i have been wondering as well, it is a game of patient and is slow in all their activities requiring much of time and focus to be able to  hit up the pool and most at time the bettor who chooses any of play will as well be on a tension.

i was just cared and concerned about which led me to create the post here so we could share.

I have hardly seen people discussed about Snooker unlike other games, mostly discussion about Football, Table tennis, poker much others.

my passion for Snooker all started when i was very little then, i follows my uncle to some joint where they plays over it but since i was very tender i never knew it was all for gambling. Anytime i sets eyes on snooker it keeps the memory awakes so gradually i picked interest about it. i can be liken to gamble over it.

please more discussion about snooker can be detailed here if you have any. i really want to gain more knowledge.

The memories never fade. I recall using my feeding money to bet because I wanted to hang out with the big boys. Snooker is a great way to spend time with friends and family. You can install a table in your home and play whenever they come over.
Snooker has not captured the attention of people as other sports have over the years, despite the prize of 500,000 Euro, which is a large sum to attract attention from all over the world.
I searched for the breakdown, and this is what I discovered for the Snooker Championship prize.

Damn I missed this game , thanks for opening this thread mate as I have been looking about this for long yet none starts to bring this up.

Snooker is one of the most popular game when i was in europe. I missed playing this.
You could have opened your own thread before if you think there's no existing thread yet about snooker and you have not waited for years before this thread show up but may we know why you missed the game? Did you stop playing it? And for what reasons, are you busy lately or what? But, allocating some time to relax and play the game wont hurt much in your schedule.

There are snooker games that you can play in your phone or in your pc if you have. If your feeling lucky, there's also gambling sites that offers snooker betting. You do not need to torture your self for missing this game because you can always relieved your childhood memories or your past memories.

The probability that there are professionals in snooker here is quite small, I think if you are interested in knowing about this sport, it would be better to join specialized communities (I think there are corresponding groups in any popular social networks). When discussing snooker in terms of betting, this is the right place, but I have not seen that betting on this sport is popular with bettors and bookmakers and that they offer a wide selection on such sporting events.

This was my first time hearing about this sport, so I did a quick internet search and assumed it was a water game or that it was played on water or ice, but I was mistaken; it is a ball game that is similar to billiards, though I am not familiar with the specific rules of that game. In addition, I agree that there are only a few people on this forum who are familiar with these games; however, I believe that this will pique their interest, and they will watch the games and attempt to place bets as a result of their curiosity.

May be. But it seems to me that most of the forum participants discuss sports here from the point of view of betting. Unfortunately, even very popular sports have little attention from crypto bookmakers and the chance to find a place to bet on them is small. For example, I led a topic dedicated to the match for the world chess title and despite the fact that this is a very popular sport, only some bookmakers accepted bets on this event and the choice of bets was very small.

Some markets (e.g. putting the first ball or which colour will be potted first) is pure gambling. No matter how good a player is, it can always be the opponent who pots the first ball. The amount of centuries in a match is somewhat easier. They are some players with impressive statistics so that is easier to research.

Yes, snooker is a great game!

There are no passing moves in this game.  Every move a player makes is incredibly important.  Playing snooker is like a cowboy duel in the Wild West.

It requires incredible dexterity and caution.  Some experts compare the game of snooker to a theatrical performance.  This is a very entertaining game.  It has intrigue.  Spectators cannot take their eyes off the movement of multi-colored balls.  Although in fact it is just a billiard with multi-colored balls.

At first glance, the game seems simple.  However, it is not.

someone here makes Snooker bets: I particularly like Snooker but I don't see myself taking money and betting on Snooker because honestly it is very difficult for me to analyze who can win the Snooker game, what would be the factors that would dictate the advantage and disadvantage between two Snooker opponents:

Can anyone here predict the outcome of a snooker match?

I think it would really be a tough time to find out who are the snooker experts here in the forum because this game isn't really widely known compared to its counterparts that are famous such as billiards and pool. There were limited tournaments about it I believe, hence, the reason why a small population is curious and gives attention to it. I agree that you would really feel a doubt whenever you bet because the snooker game seems to be hard to predict and in a snap, tables turning could possibly happen so if someone really is very particular with money, he should think twice before betting.

But this seems to be worth looking out for too despite its unpopularity. This is another level of challenge for those who want to experience the thrill on the table.

Maybe it is the first time to hear about the game, although the game is almost similar to the billiards method, it is different. So maybe that is normal if only a few gambling sites have Snooker games as not many people will play the game because people are familiar with billiards. If that is billiards, I only know that a player needs to shoot from number 1 to 9 and then black ball, but I do not know the rules because my friend taught me to shoot but I missed the balls and the stick ripping the green carpet hahaha.
My first time too but it has the similarities between pool and billiards but different rules. But it's a good thing that even if the game wasn't that popular to most countries there are still who keeps it and makes a bet on it. Billiard is known worldwide and I just known it this time around too because of this thread.
I guess there are countries that isn't familiar with such specific sport/game. Me too, It's my first time hearing the kind of game, but I'm pretty sure I've seen it somewhere on the sports channel, and yeah it's pretty similar with billiard.
Now, I'm wondering how popular the game is in a specific country, but I'm quite sure billiard is more familiar than snooker and this kind of sport only has a small audience.
Is there a line for betting for snooker game in cryptocurrency?
It hasn't been introduced on me as well, way back high school pool was only we do hang out most especially after class or if by chance we may cut a class. I think the audience is far too wide when comparing billiard to snooker, billiard has come close to be an Olympic sports but I never heard snooker to be close. Probably the wider audience/unpopularity was due to a different of rules (maybe), snooker was a lengthy one as I searched for it, it's difficult too.

I found this masterpiece of an article featuring the greatest snooker player: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2015/03/30/follow-the-white-ball, it's a good read. Check it.

I've been looking at the number of markets available to bet on a snooker match. There are more than most people realize. You can't think of it that crazy or you can already bet on it. Number of centuries, which ball will be pocketed first and much more. Pretty interesting, but I think you really need to know a lot about the game to make some money with that.

I remember in College , I use to play this In my friends House as His father is a professional snooker player so i have the chance to learn and play this game.

but after we graduated since this is not that popular in my country(Though Billiard is a game on the street) then i lose my chances in playing this again.

But if given a chance? of course i will love pursuing my career in this as my friend knows How skilled i am in table.

I played pool and snooker and I preferred pool for many reasons. Snooker a bit more difficult, so it can be a challenge especially for beginners.

I've played both snooker and pool a lot, and in my experience anyway snooker isn't just a bit more difficult, it's a lot more difficult.
Here in the UK, I suppose we are the home of snooker. Our standard pool tables are 6ftx3ft, so quite small. A snooker table by contrast is 12ftx6ft, so a playing area equivalent to 4 UK pool tables.

UK pool is quite easy to master. I played in pub teams a lot, and if the balls fall right it's not too uncommon to be able to clear the table in a single visit.

But I found snooker a lot harder. The balls are bigger, and the distances involved are just ridiculous. One problem if you're used to playing pool, and you get down to make a shot on a snooker table, is that it's difficult to get used to the perspective, and to remember that because of the distance a shot in snooker will be a lot straighter (more of a full-ball connection) than you might think if you're used to pool distances. It's definitely a great sport to try if you can, particularly if you like pool... just don't expect to be any good at snooker!

I had a moment in my life when I spent all my free time in the pool hall and spent more than one night playing snooker. To tear the cloth of the billiard table you need to try very hard, but not to hit the cue ball is a common problem for a beginner so do not get upset and try to play more because snooker is quite a fun game.

Not a lot do talk about this and I don't know why because snooker seems to be on par with pool or billiards in terms of popularity. But given that billiards and pool isn't discussed as much here in the gambling board, I think it's safe to say that this is the unsurprising result of not being talked about in this forum. I welcome having one though so it's not too late if we create a thread for discussion.

Snooker is a known game but not as widely played as other sports. At least not in my place. I've heard of it countless of times but I haven't seen it played in real life. Nor have I even tried to play it. I don't even know its distinctive mechanics.

But there are snooker odds in the betting sites that I am using. I never tried placing a bet on snooker but I noticed there are leagues with odds. I checked it just now and I saw there is a current Players Tour Championship.

What ? you never heard about Snooker? but at least you know Billiards ? or specifically 9 balls ? snookers is almost same but of course using colored balls and the rules are far different from Billiards .

I remember betting on a snooker match once in a while and in a way I think they're similar to Darts since there are moments where players capitalize on the mistakes of their opponents.

But snooker seems more predictable than Darts though. I also suggest checking the sportsbook subreddit and their discord since they have one of the most active server when it comes to sportsbetting.

So far it is difficult to find Snooker gambling, mostly billiards are found more. I don't know what the exact reason is, but Snooker doesn't really attract much attention, apart from being complicated with setting the score, the gamblers are not too interested. Usually, gamblers place bets that at a glance they can know in general the pace of the game.

I read some information on Wikipedia about the early history of Snooker and indeed it had become a world game that was quite prestigious in its time.

I already mentioned this a couple of posts above that snooker can be found on multiple big casinos (including Stake) and that you can even bet on smaller events. So just browse to these sites and you will find it. However, the markets you can place your bet on is quite limited (mostly only winner or handicap).

Maybe because most of the gamblers here are fan of European games and western , though Asian gamblers are also circulating this market .

I am not a fan of Snooker but I love to play Billiards , in which almost same as snooker.

Not the game itself as you don't need it as a bettor. What we need is here is the analysis of those players themselves.

Tracking the history of those is one step of doing that kind of analysis. It will be hard as sometimes, both players are equal regardless of their respective status or achievement in the history of Snooker.

It is not easy always to place a bet on some snooker matches, especially if the games are the best of 5 or best of 7, then a lot of surprises can happen. I mainly place a bet when the matches are longer  (e.g. world championship).

In my country it is like rich people's game. I haven't used to it, because I personally have a mindset it is the rich people's carrom. Apart, majority of the start rated locations have this for entertainment where elite people spend their holidays. So, I have never used to have an eye over it. It is something that needs good skills and hand control to win.

Few gambling sites have listed upcoming series, if more to be added you can suggest the gambling sites. They'll surely add it analysing whether more people are interested in spending on these games.

Don't get me wrong. Instead of merely discussing what is snooker or how the efforts to play this game, it would be better to more focus on its event bettings or put up our predictions here since we are on gambling discussion board. Nothing wrong with us sometimes talking about the game or how to play it properly, but if its too much and theres no betting discussion I'm afraid it would lead to off-topic of this board, imo. I hope you know what I mean, just my 2 cents.

besides, is there a crypto casino having this game in their list? or even in sportsbetting, i have never encountered this sports in their list. but i do agree, some people are into this sports. there's an upcoming world snooker championship this April, so let us see if some of these crypto casinos will list this event and give odds to the players.
maybe, the odds are mostly available in fiat bookies but we will see if crypto casinos will touch this event...

There are multiple big crypto casinos that have bets on snooker, also for the smaller tournaments. The site in your signature is a good example, I already placed multiple bets on snooker via Stake. The odds are most of the time also quite good and comparable with fiat bookies.

yes, i have seen the list at stake and for me hard to place bet as i'm not really familiar with them. maybe, that's the reason why a lot of gamblers here are not betting on snooker as you can only identify few players if you are not really a follower of this sports. so how can you take the risk on an unfamiliar ground, right?
but good to know that known bookies here do have the snooker betting list, which is good for snooker fans (who are mostly silent on this one).

Snooker is a sweet board game for two people to play. I started playing snooker 2 years ago and it didn't take me a hard time to learn the game. I watched some tutors play on YouTube and practiced on board with friends. Truly, I've not staked any bet on snooker game because of how confusing the game is to me sometimes I just Port balls luckily and I miss out some balls. So, it's not something I can take too serious and stake my funds into. Just play snooker for fun that's all.

I am wondering how the bookies are placing odds on the players here.
Maybe, their history as a player. Because for me, it is hard to bet on them because it depends on their luck and strategy.
And if you are a fan of this sports, there are a lot of crypto bookies that are actually including this sports, including the casino that I'm wearing.
Though some bookies have longer list in their line-up aside from the live snooker events.

The concept is very much the same, but pool/billiards is basically two colors with a black ball and a very self explanatory way to win. Snooker is more complicated, as you have to pot the balls in a specific way and there is a lot more strategy involved. You'll find pool played a lot more casually as the games tend to be shorter and it requires less time to learn. People tend to progress to snooker after if they like the format, it can require thinking a couple steps ahead and sometimes if there is no shot available you want to make use your shot to make it much harder for the opposing player to continue. There's a small but steady market for the game.

In my eyes, snooker is one of the hardest sports to play. It is easy to pot a ball, but you need to make sure that your position of the white ball is good to continue the break and that is the hardest part. If you watch it on TV, it all seems simple but the reality is not like that. Pool is a lot easier to learn and play.

Snooker is played on a table similar to a pool table... different set of rules, different table, different balls, you get the picture. Smiley
Here you can read more about it, a bit about the history, rules, etc What Is the Difference Between Billiards, Pool, and Snooker?
Turns out I've been calling pool as billiards all this time (It's what my friends called it when we were playing it way back then lmao). The general rule seems to be similar across all three games? Most differences are in the way players can score points or the way the points are needed to be scored, but other than that, they're almost the same to each other.

I am not that big of an expert about snooker myself but i have a friend that plays snooker in a club and is pretty damn good at it. Snooker is one of those sports that a lot of people don't really know about but it still huge in certain countries, especially in Britain if i am not wrong and the top snooker players are all millionaires, so Snooker is definitely no joke and also big business if you are good at it. In that regard it is pretty similar to darts in my opinion. Also Snooker and Darts are good sports to bet at in my opinion.

Yes indeed, snooker is mainly popular in the UK and in China. There are a lot of young talents coming from China but currently the best players are still from the UK (O'Sullivan, Trump). It is indeed big business as the world champion can win 500,000 pound!
^ That is quite big business and you are right about snooker and I wonder why that kind of game did not have in a gambling casino right now. The snooker game is very popular in my place and that is billiards which is also good and it seems people looking for a game that something can increase your chances of winning, not like on others that is purely fidging against the house edge.

Never heard of it but I've searched it just now, interesting game I might say. Similar to pool but they are opposite, same 6 pockets, however, the pockets of snooker is smaller than pool. Snooker's table is larger while pool is smaller. It's 1 vs. 1 or a team sports, if I'm not mistaken. Maybe people are not interested on it since it's a traditional sports, only few enjoyed it (it's like chess) in my opinion because it takes time before you take your shot.

I believe that everyone has had a phase in their lives when they were addicted to this game, whether in childhood when they barely knew how to hold a bat, in college with colleagues (in my case) or after being "old" at the bar with the friends between one sip of beer and another.
It's a game that I also love, but I don't follow the official championships very much, and unfortunately it seems to me that it has little popularity.
I don't remember seeing any threads around here discussing about this.

Snooker is a sports game because playing it requires physical and also quite a long time depending on the skill of the player, and the score of Snooker collects points from the existing balls, and there are several balls that have different points and the most points he wins.
maybe bet on snooker in a match and choose reliable players, maybe that's what I know well because I used to bet often because someone provided a snooker game and the place was not far from home and when they played snooker I bet with friends to choose the player who win.

and I think watching snooker is easier than actually playing it for various reasons.
and when I used to play pool and saw my other friends playing snooker, I thought it was a very easy and simple game, but when I started playing snooker I could see all the complexities.

I played pool and snooker and I preferred pool for many reasons. Snooker a bit more difficult, so it can be a challenge especially for beginners. I also played as a kid. I was 13-14 at the time. When you're younger you learn everything much faster and don't care that you suck at it, you keep playing until you get better Cheesy
I know a few people who know how to play but not a single one that would watch games or actually know the scene and that includes me. Are you by any chance British? It's a popular sport there.

Yeah
You know it requires much of attention and accuracy, focus to be able to pot in ball sequentially. At young age it was very easily for me to get it right, i love playing snooker as it free my boringness and consume most of the time especially during vacations.

No i m not British sir.

Well, with a lot of games that we could choose and play I don't think someone would come up to make a thread about snooker or pool here. Although, I don't know if it's getting less popular or not many people would choose to talk about it. I love pool games although I can't make a topic about it since I do play different games too. It's just that it's not on my priority list since I'm preoccupied with those gambling games but I like to make a bet about it if I like the player.

Yeah, I can barely find some legit crypto gambling sites that offers betting on snooker or pool. Since most of the top games that people like to bet is baseball, football, and soccer so I think it's best to assume that's why there's no thread about of that kind of sport in crypto is because people prefer the top games. Snooker and chess are the best example that not everyone are into that kind of sports especially in crypto and most of the game they prefer is in fiat betting.

It is a really fun game along with pool, however I'm not sure it'll ever have a very high reach reach across the world. It does take an expert touch, but it has been televised in certain countries for decades now and just doesn't seem athletic enough to capture a wide audience. It can seem a little boring and dreary to some sports fans with little room for action. It's a very enjoyable game to be playing in person around friends while you have a drink but that's probably the extent of it. Just got to be grateful that you can find fairly big championships in certain countries like the UK and there will always be someone taking bets on the biggest events, with some of the players becoming semi-celebrities.

Snooker is not too popular compared to other sports betting such as football, tennis, MMA, or poker. People here prefer to play Billiards in a cafe and gamble with their friends and the winner can pay for the drinks. So I guess that it is not easy to find snooker gambling sites or even crypto gambling sites that have snooker on their list. Maybe there are fiat gambling sites that have snooker games on their site but I do not search for more as I do not use fiat to gamble.
Snooker games lack good adverts just like other games and it's more of an indoor or recreational game or played in tournament which doesn't come often. Except for virtual snooker games which you get on casinos sites or some gambling sites or most likely on a physical casino where you face your opponent indirectly. I don't really think there is really much to discuss about snooker games except during tournaments

Snooker is played on a table similar to a pool table... different set of rules, different table, different balls, you get the picture. Smiley
Here you can read more about it, a bit about the history, rules, etc What Is the Difference Between Billiards, Pool, and Snooker?

In my country the pool was popular... we were watching older people playing in money and we were doing the same thing, it was +20 years ago! Every neighborhood had a place or two with arcades, pools, and table soccer! Now I think there's just one place with these games in town that I know, before kids I use to go and play with my wife, sometimes vs another couple sometimes alone, that was 3 years ago since then I didn't come near the pool table!

Snooker is something I only saw on tv, I never had a chance to play it! From what I saw I didn't get all the rules, it was interesting for me how they are trying to clear those red balls while they are missing other balls, you need to be skilled to do that!
I already heard of the game but it was long time ago. Now what goes my mind after reading the word snooker is its like swimming due to the word snook but I remember now that it was called snork or snorkling xd. So, the game is similar to billiard. Billiard is more popular than snooker but there is no active billiard threads in this forum.

I guess people here only like to focus on the mainstream sports but there must be a forum that are dedicated to sports and every sports are equally being talked about. You can try searching for that OP if snooker really gets your interest. I understand that this sport gives you feeling of nostalgia; that's nice.

In my country we almost exclusively play pool, it's very hard to find a snooker table. Almost every decent bar has atleast one pool table. Since my childhood I like to play it and generally prefer pool because it's easier and has more colors. My uncle taught me the game and it was also the first time I started to gamble. We never gambled for money, only for things. So when I won I could get my favourite ice-cream or some chocolate. Later when growing up I did the same with my friends, we usually just play for beers, never really for money. There often snooker games on TV, it's cool to watch how good the professionals are playing. But I never thought about betting on those matches. Is it more easy to make money in snooker betting than in football betting? Maybe because there are less gamblers the chances are higher?
I also prefer to play pool.

There was not that much exposure in my neighborhood when I was a kid with snooker games. There were a lot of pool tables but not so many snooker tables and players were there.

That's why as the influence of that neighborhood, I've played more pool and even during my secondary school. I've got a classmate that's into pool who also has their own table to play for free.

Based on my observation:

Number 1, only a few here are interested in that sports.

Number 2, snooker I think is not on a regular basis like there's a regular-season or what. It was done thru special events. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Number 3, you can start the discussion of it by sharing your own thoughts. I'm sure others will follow and just waiting for a thread like this.

Snooker is such a fun and exciting game which I used to play when I was younger. It isn't as famous as other sports but it also provides entertainment. Maybe the reason why we aren't hearing too much about it is that it isn't well known, unlike other sports. I hope that more sites would offer this kind of sports betting and for sure, more gamblers would be interested on it.

Snooker, I love to play it as well and everyone has the dream of playing it in the physical world but due to thr evolution of technology it is available for everyone also people with skills can beat the novice so its more of a skill based game so didn't have lot of attraction like casino based games are having.

someone here makes Snooker bets: I particularly like Snooker but I don't see myself taking money and betting on Snooker because honestly it is very difficult for me to analyze who can win the Snooker game, what would be the factors that would dictate the advantage and disadvantage between two Snooker opponents:

Can anyone here predict the outcome of a snooker match?

For me I think snooker is a game of skills and luck might be a small fraction but it does not mean that you are going to win that game hands down.

Even pro billiard player wants to play snooker. In our country, The most famous billiard player here Efren "Bata" Reyes favorite game is snooker. He even wants to compete on this game internationally rather than billiards on his current physical condition. The only problem on this game was there's only few tournaments available worldwide because of its low popularity due to billiards and pool sports.

The games is partly luck base compared to billiards that you play perfectly if you calculate well each shot. I don't know if this thread will get much attention since the game is not that popular anymore.

If you are focused on snooker+ Gambling you would be happy to know that it's already something that is being gambled upon since a really long time. There are many sites that offers that and at the same time you can check it out on Google itself.

For me I think snooker is a game of skills and luck might be a small fraction but it does not mean that you are going to win that game hands down.

The easiest would be to actually go out with your friends and then gamble on it but still there are many sites available online that are providing the snooker tournament or the opportunity to gamble on the game, there are many advertisements available online And sites like : https://www.paddypower.com
But I haven't tried it so idk.

Yes, you are right, the game of Snooker, rarely people make bets, the Snooker game is almost the same as the Billiards game, the style is different, so that kind of game often people bet on the place/location, after all, there are rarely gambling sites that provide Snooker games, although there are certain sites, but very rarely.

For this reason, the Snooker Game is only for certain people who want to place bets, not the same as betting on football, boxing etc, for various reasons and bettors feel bored so rarely want to bet on Snooker games and rarely discussed here.

So it's kind of billiards but a different set of rules? Probably why it isn't that known, most people would probably know (and prefer) the well known billiards instead of that, not to mention that billiards isn't exactly a very famous sport (at least, on some countries). There should still be matches that are being betted on though, not that I know where exactly since I don't look for them. Others have said it though, so goodluck to you finding it. Might watch a few matches since it's honestly my first time finding the term.

What knowledge? About the sports itself? Or on the betting side, wherein a discussion on who to bet?

I know the game, I know the mechanics, but not familiar with their league in general. If you are following snooker and being passionate about the game, I'm sure you are well aware of their current league.

Checking stake.com, there's a variety of upcoming matches: https://stake.com/sports/snooker
Maybe you are aware of those names.

Pool and Snooker are not as popular as before. I believe even prizes for international competitions also dropped a lot maybe due to lack of public interest and private sponsors. Their "golden era" was probably before bitcoin was born.

I played pool and snooker and I preferred pool for many reasons. Snooker a bit more difficult, so it can be a challenge especially for beginners.

Which one did you play first? I think those who started with Pool find it harder to transition to Snooker.

When you're younger you learn everything much faster and don't care that you suck at it, you keep playing until you get better Cheesy
I know a few people who know how to play but not a single one that would watch games or actually know the scene and that includes me. Are you by any chance British? It's a popular sport there.
