im not understanding shit. can someone explain to me? without providing links to articles, ive read them.

as far as i understood,

if you have bitcoin in your wallet, you are entitled to receive some stellar coins.

but what is the maximum amount of bitcoins to own?

because a whale having enough btc can just show his address and get the whole total coin to be distributed of stellar.

what will you have to do to list your btc address in order to be entitled?

they said something like prove your btc address, its signing the address correct? what if its on an exchanger?

somebody please enlighten me

It doesn't look like there is a maximum or minimum, it's a percentage calculation on how many btc you owned on a particular date.

Proof of owning a particular address will have to have some digital signature process I assume. They'll give you a code of some type, you'll have to sign it with your wallet, and provide the signature back to prove you own that address.

If it's on an exchange, it's not your address, it's the exchanges so you won't be able to claim it.

another bad distribution because unless you own a large amount of bitcoin it's not worth it, this is again the richer get richer scheme i don't like it, the more coin you sign and link to stellar the more stellar you get, but don't hold too much your breath here, you get only 0.01 btc out of 2 btc connected with stellar address, waste of time for me

Actually the richer ones may not prove their wallets for privacy and safety reasons (one may not access his paper wallets or cold storage for such small return)
And still the "normal" people will get some free coins.
I'm not sure though what will happen with the unclaimed lumens...

not true people don't care about their privacy, look they are going to distribute 16 billions stellar, and every 10 btc linked you get 10k stellar, 0.15 bitcoin or so, which mean that 1 millions bitcoin will be linked lol

I just scanned the article but it did says some exchanges are participating so we can just leave our btc and xrp there at the date mentioned by stellar.

And for people whining about the distribution system. Stellar is business oriented so do you have any better ways doing it paralleled to their company goal? If you don't like it then don't participate. It's FREE. Don't act like beggars crying wanting for more.

I am unable to sign a message as I am using Xapo wallets but that's not the point, I do not keep bitcoins on my account I usually either withdraw them or keep them at altcoins I find thrilling. When did this thing happened and do we have to have btc at the time of giveaway or anytime we want ?

Can I use this giveaway now for example? I mean is it like clam giveaways?

it's free. who cares how fair it is? but if i were doing it i'd limit the amount per btc address. the same thing has been repeated elsewhere with exchanges getting insane amounts.

Jed McCaleb is giving it to his Whale friends, he is such a prick everyone knows to set limits. His friends will come scoop it all up. Ripple/Stellar both scam companies with scam coins no way they could get away with this if coin was regulated. Sell all your STR before then. It's going to crash to negative value and Jed will come to your house to collect the debt 😂. Look at their site said businesses can sign up to get the free ones. Will probably give majority to his business friends set aside before hand. He tries to act good on the outside publishing the charity work,"Ohh I gave so many coins to charity." Lol

https://www.stellar.org/blog/bitcoin-claim-lumens-2/

If you read that, then it should be clear that there's no "maximum". The amount you get is a percentage of how much you have in relationship to the total bitcoin supply at the time they take the snapshot times the 16 billion lumens. They give a clear example of the calculation on that page.

It appears that, if you have bitcoin on a participating exchange, they will distribute lumens to you based on your balance at that time as well. It does look like there are some people that are excluded and it seems that some will have to do some sort of stupid facebook thing as well.
