Have you been providing the web for a long time? Every preparation certainly needs the opinion of many speakers. Take currency and reward you. It's similar to a bounty article. Award d give to the author. The difference is when your web is commercial it's everything the author who manages his storyline. Not in its right. Is bitcoin to fund your web more practical?

Don't expect more than 5 or 10 donations unless your website has a userbase (simply SEO by itself is not enough as passing Googlers won't care enough to send money)

If I get one donation it would be pretty cool.

5 - 10, I'd be ecstatic!

Ok, so I made it super-basic. A QR code and a bitcoin address.

Wen lambo?

I checked your site and i find it hard to find the tipping address. All i can see one bitcoin address at the bottom of the site and nothing is mentioned that is is a donation / tipping address. If you can highlight it and also please improve the visibility of the site.
It look like a black n white site of old age with no colors. (Take it as a positive feedback  Smiley)

I do have text about buying me coffee, but I could make it clearer.

It really does look like it is from the 90s, lol. But it isn't anything fancy, any time I have spent has been to improve the calculations.

Thanks for your constructive criticism!

Accepting tips without any third party involved is a good plan. It is good if you've got some more coins added to the list, because when your content is being tipped it shouldn't consume a big fee for the tip provider. For this addition of tron and other low transaction fee based coins will be more effective on this purpose.

If you absolutely don't want to use 3rd party software(including open-source), then just simply paste in your wallet address or qr code. Or if you want to be slightly more fancy, add a donate button(on your menu bar or at the bottom of the page) and use a modal pop-up with your wallets address/qrcode when clicked.

This is absolutely great alternative to collect payments, tips, or donations from websites. Along with this, it requires some sort of javascript to make more fancy functions such as pop-ups and other accessible details of transactions. If the website is developed using WordPress, then there are so many plugins for it.

My own Suggestion: Currently BTC transactions are costly just because of higher transaction and network fees. So it's always better to accept low transaction fees altcoins as Tip. It will definitely save lots of money spent on fees for transactions and networks along with the time required for transaction completion.

By the way, I think the QR code image is too small. I'm not sure the QR code reader will pick this up.
You are right, I don't think that will work. he has to make it bigger. I tried to scan the QR code with Electrum and Coinomi and even with an authenticator just to see if it gets recognized, and neither of the apps register it.

@NapHappy
You might also consider putting that donation part at the top of the page as well for even better visibility.

Why would you want to use a third party for that? I think simply showing people your BTC address is more than enough. You could also implement a QR code for a simpler way to send tips. Most websites use a simple address text at the bottom of their web page and that seems to do the trick. However, I would be careful about hackers who try to hack into your page to change the address or by ddosing your web page and luring people unto a fake clone page while your page is down.

Yes, it really is super basic, but sometimes that works too.

By the way, I think the QR code image is too small. I'm not sure the QR code reader will pick this up. Also, why not take advantage of Bitcoin's URI Protocol Scheme and make the BTC address as a clickable link, as suggested by Pmalek here?

How would I go about accepting tips on a web page? I would prefer not to use any third party tool. I am envisioning a simple way to embed my BTC wallet public address or QR code and people can use it to tip.

I am thinking of doing this to avoid having google ads to help defray my web hosting fees, not to make any serious BTC, it is a niche webpage, but focused towards bitcoiners.

Any thoughts/successes/failures are welcome.

Just paste a BTC wallet address and some altcoin wallet addresses with a good Call To Action(CTA).
Just saying "Please Donate" won't do the work. The people have to feel inspired to support you.
You need to learn something about marketing and research some successful crowdfunding campaigns.
How do they gather donations? What is their marketing approach?
How do they communicate with their potential supporters?
Before thinking about donations, you should think about how to increase the amount of web traffic to your website. Are you going to use social media profiles,Reddit,Quora,Youtube or maybe some niche forums like Bitcointalk?
Do you want to SEO optimize your page,so it can appear higher on the search engines for a bunch of niche keywords?

It seems like that's good, but it will be very rare for people to give tips for you even if you install a Wallet code. Maybe I've seen what it's like @mk4. They will get pop up code and if you want to read more then you have to give tips. But it seems like you must have useful content, so that people want to give tips to continue reading the writing or downloading the application on your web system. I think without involving the other party can but the chances of you getting tips will be smaller.  Even I've been using google adsense, almost a year more but it's just a free blog and the money collected is around 1$  Grin

Easily the only option that you should've done OP, that's what one of the bitcoin developers do, they put their addresses in their site's donation page, no fuzz. Also, why worry about Google ads? It's a good way to make your site a prominent one, in this day and age where there's billions of websites, you might want to consider being recognized, it's not enough that you're niche.

You could even take advantage of Bitcoin's URI Protocol Scheme features and make it easier for the donator to send you the coins. With one click of a button, the most important transaction information would get filled up automatically.
You can configure it for various amounts where the donators can click on the appropriate buttons to donate $1, $5, $10, $50 worth of bitcoin... whatever they want.

I can see there's some dispute over the solution mk4 offered, but I think it's the best way to go. Tips aren't something that should require a payment processor, IMO. A Bitcoin address is the most direct and straightforward way to accept tips, and those who want to give them will be able to do it relatively easily. My concern would perhaps be related to high transaction fees, which are frequently well above reasonable if we're talking about tips. Perhaps a good Lightning Network solution is available for this, and you could offer it alongside BTC address. Or accept some popular altcoin with low fees (Dogecoin, perhaps?) along with Bitcoin.

It's a genius bro. I've seen some webs.despite the fact that most of them are very self-experienced in what is still developing (cracker) examples of its multiplier applications and others. (donation column) if applied in this new project I think it's good too. The maker will feel appreciated. Although the funds are small if in the form of bitcoin there will be an up price

This is good suggestion and he can simply make changes in CSS to give it a more handy look that doesn't display the address directly and it's hidden and on the click of button it appears on the screen of user in full clarity to avoid any confusions.Even if you don't know about it there are tons of tutorial available from where you can learn how to do it.

as some friends have said here, using or embedding a Donate Link and a Qr Code that goes directly to your own BTC address will be better than using a third party address.
But the use of addresses should not only include BTC addresses but several other altcoin addresses such as ETH, BNB, SOL, Polygon etc. which have a low fee to send tips that will be given to you.

Just make it simple wherein you can make it different as well especially if you don't want all visitor's to see that you're literally expecting a tip from them. A word DONATE is a good option i think..since this keyword is very common in some webpage also especially when it comes crypto projects because it's very often, such news, announcements and etc.. Just give it a twist.  Wink

Good suggestion mate but that seems to be for e-commerce sites and checking out facility. Though it can be used on the niche webpage but it seems little too much for donation page.

Nah... I think it's as good as an invoice. Write “Tip me!” instead to avoid seeming like a purchase.

Just showing a bitcoin address will discourage someone from tipping you. Those days when you could dip on-chain have gone unless the donator is especially generous.

What you want can be implemented without a third party using lightning payments. Check BTCPay Server.

It’s just far better what mk4 is saying. Just paste the address and QR code.

Moreover, to get the feel for this you can checkout the mega sites like Coinmarket cap. Even those guys have just pasted the donation addresses at the bottom of their site. On top of that they have mentioned different coins so it’s  up to user what coin to choose and pay them the donations.

+1 to mk4, you can put your bitcoin address so any tips will directly to your bitcoin wallet or exchange (not advisable).
So this time, you will hard code your Bitcoin address from your website, and best thing here you can customized it if you are a coder, you can put it anywhere from your webpage and make some design on how to look good from the users.
