I just haven't used my account in ages. It was using a very old password, that wasn't particularly secure, and might have been part of some previous hacked website. Potentially even from when bitcointalk got hacked.
I received the emails this morning, about the password change and then change of email. So I clicked the link (within the 14 days) to lock it.
I'm not too bothered about the account to be honest, I'd just rather not have some hacker using my account... I dont expect Theymos to do anything about it anyway.

Here is a signed message from the bitcoin address posted in one of my first posts on this forum in 2013.

This clearly disproves you thinking I bought the account.

I don't mind being proven wrong. Considering the address was posted in a locked thread, I'm pretty sure it's safe to assume no one could have edited the address.
Someone from DT will probably tag the account but considering it's locked it's useless to the hacker anyways.

Not to belittle your account in anyway, but I wouldn't bother waiting.

I don't know when the last account recovered was but I estimate something like a minimum of 8 months for recovery. I think it is very possible for you(anyone) to build a new account up and earn the required merit and activity to get back to member status. Not to mention you will have to do this anyway if you can't sign a message.

I've already clicked the link in the email to lock the account for 2 weeks.

I'm confused by this part, do you mean it has been 2 weeks since you locked it or are you just stating you locked it within the 14 day timeframe the email provides?

Edit: had to say I got curious are you the original account owner? There is something that doesn't ad up in that accounts amount of Merit and how old the posts are.

I now suspect you purchased the account at some point. Regardless of that, where it stands now in rank and inactivity, my previous advice applies.

A little off-topic, can I ask what the reason why your account hacked? I mean, I've just noticed a lot of members reporting that their account were hacked but what's the main possible reason? Did you accidentally visit a Phishing site or something? Or someone just guessed your password?  In my opinion, the possible reason is because of Phishing sites but I can't really understand why there are still a lot of people that is too careless and still getting a victim of these frauds.

Anyway, @ranochigo already provided the link to what you should do to get your account back.

Do you still have control of 1MHKPsLJhC3hV8iEY61JV9vdE99aN4aouB? If you can still sign a message with it, follow the procedure here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/recovering-hacked-accounts-or-accounts-with-lost-passwords-497545.

Hi,

My account with username Alexis has been hacked.
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/alexis-149748

I recieved an email this morning telling me the password had been changed, and shortly after this another email telling me the email of my account had been changed to [email protected] by IP 46.0.114.199.

I've already clicked the link in the email to lock the account for 2 weeks.

Please help restore the account to my original email and reset the password.

Thanks,
Alexis
