Just for future reference, when an account is permanently banned, it's called nuking, and you'll know that's the case when the account's posts have all been deleted such that the account will have shown to have made 0 posts.
Only Newbies can be nuked, other accounts can be banned without deleting all posts.
See "Nuke user" and "Autoban user" in modlog.

I believe that when an account is only temporarily banned, you should get a PM from a moderator stating the length of the ban. That said, if your friend did in fact receive a PM stating the length of the ban to be 7 days, then he should be unbanned.

And as a side note, I've seen Meta threads where the admins admit that the ban bot made a mistake in banning an account, so if it seems like your friend's account was unjustly banned then you can actually appeal it.

Well, I think your friend was definitely a shitposter because it is said in the notice that he is making "unsubstantial posts". I'm so sorry, I think your friend can no longer recover his account because moderators are now getting strict on cleansing this forum.

My advice to your friend is study more about crypto because lack of knowledge is the usual reason that causes shitposting, when he is now ready then feel free to create a new account and I hope that ban will now serve as his lesson.

In no way does that justify a message that "states" someone is banned for 7 days while in actuality it's a permaban.

Did your "friend" logged in and continued to make posts with his alt(s) while being banned?
Probably, before he got banned he complained about his "sister's" account being banned too:
My sister account is prohibited I've tried to appeal to moderator and tried a few steps but still can not and the account was banned permanently.

But if he has a permban, the 7 day message shouldn't show anymore.

It means that your "friend" is spamming too much while wearing a signature promoting a campaign.
Did your "friend" logged in and continued to make posts with his alt(s) while being banned?

Edit : @LoyceV : aww it is complicated now Tongue

An account ban or a posting ban? and most importantly what did she do to received such ban?
because as far as I know your account can only be permanent ban if you plagiarized some content that's not yours even if you did it the first time.
