Bithumb is a straight scam. I had $1000 DASH stored with them and now its gone. Just count it as a loss and move on I guess.

Bithumb has disabled bitcoin withdrawal since march...
You can move your funds from bithumb in other currencies, but the value on bithumb is 20-30% higher, meaning you will loose a lot of money

I do not recommend to anyone, to move funds to this exchange!!

Just for better explanation as well, and because some people asked for it, here is the total timeline of what's happened which is from an email that I sent to Dash.org to explain the situation to them:

The process in total is:

1.  I first signed up at Bithumb, Sun, May 7, 2017 at 2:24 PM (Australian time)/ Sun, May 7, 2017 at 4:24 AM UTC
2.  When you sign up to Bithumb you cannot withdraw without sending Passport ID.  I did this Mon, May 8, 2017 at 2:01 AM UTC
3.  I had already transferred BTC to Bithumb and sold it, then purchased LTC.  My first withdrawal from Bithumb was Mon, May 8, 2017 at 11:03 AM UTC after being verified
4.  I made 3 more sell transactions on the 9th May after first transferring BTC to Bithumb, and then withdrawing the ETH/DASH/LTC to other exchanges.
5.  The 3rd transaction of these was buying DASH at Bithumb and then transferring it to Livecoin.  This was successful.  The Dash TXID for this was 96381636344f2f379d85ba85433b7491f8ccf5eb1b331c2087711476bbe53cd8 and the amount of Dash I sold at Livecoin was 3.30611835
6.  This transaction traded 3.30611835 DASH for 0.19836714 BTC.  I then withdrew this back to Bithumb (https://blockchain.info/tx-index/54e9cc37eeef47a1d71569530effd09fc449ac11cf8bb2207c206a46ecf85537)
7.  With this BTC arriving at Bithumb, I sold it for Korean Won on the site and then purchased 3.52272214 DASH at Sun, May 9, 2017 at 0:57 AM UTC  (https://explorer.dash.org/address/Xf3osQVZsD3GBYYgvp5gd5pQcjSWj1vL1n)
8.  I tried to withdraw this DASH back to Livecoin, and this was where I first realised something was up.  I was blocked from withdrawing (which I had already done 4 or 5 times over the last 2 days with no problem) and when I looked at my profile to find out why, I saw that my verification from step 2 had been changed back from Level 2 (you can withdraw) to level 1 (you are new to Bithumb, not verified and cannot withdraw).
9.  After trying a number of times to re-verify by clicking on the non-working level 2 button, I decided that logging out and then back in might resolve the issue somehow.
10.  I logged out, but when I tried to log back in I got a message in Korean even though I had entered the same details I had always used.
11.  I translated the Korean message, which said that my email was not on their system.  I tried logging in many times, checked emails (verification email and 20 others from them) to make sure I wasn't going insane, and trying unsuccessfully to click "forgot password" to at least get some way to solve the situation.  Even the password reset process returned that my email was not in their system.
12.  I contacted them first about this at Tue, May 9, 2017 at 1:09 AM UTC (12 minutes after the 3.52272214 DASH was purchased and placed in wallet Xf3osQVZsD3GBYYgvp5gd5pQcjSWj1vL1n)
13. I spend the next days contacting them (over 80 emails in total, mostly mine).  After 3 days I searched through the Dash blockchain to get the exact details of the purchase and the wallet that held the missing Dash.  I sent this wallet address to them after them telling me that by doing this they would help me to retrieve it.  After 3 days of sitting dormant, 11 hours after I gave them the Dash address it was emptied.  I haven't received an email from them since, and it was 7 days ago.

Replies over the next day from them claiming an account with that email address doesn't exist:

The registration email from that account:

Screenshot of all emails from Bithumb to my email account [email protected], including the registration email, and emails for selling ETH and LTC through that account:

That's all relating to my account disappearing from existence.  If further proof is required, I'm happy to forward emails from these screenshots to a moderator here on the forum.

The next emails are later in the process, when I was told to set up a new account at Bithumb, a DASH wallet there, and then provide the wallet address and I would have the coins returned to that wallet.  Subsequently, the DASH was removed from the wallet I provided and I received no further contact for the last 7 days after that.

Providing the DASH wallet to them that contained my DASH:

The wallet as I made the purchase on Bithumb, then as the DASH was removed from the wallet 11hrs after passing the details to Bithumb:

A few points to make:

- My timezone is Australia (+10), so if any times don't seem to match, then it may be that some details are in UTC and some are in 10+.
- I've been in touch with the Dash.org team, who have been very helpful in providing some advice and trying to get in touch with Bithumb to provide assistance in resolving this properly.  If you're reading this in the future in a similar situation I would recommend the same strategy of reaching out to the currency founders.
- The language situation here is not ideal, and I've considered throughout this that a serious glitch at Bithumb has caused this situation.  I would still prefer that to be true compared to this being malicious.  However I find it very hard to believe that an entire account can delete itself and that their email system simultaneously deletes all of my emails, combined with the perfect timing just after purchasing and trying to withdraw, combined with the wallet being cleared out after providing the address, combined with them directing me to set up a new account and wallet to receive the DASH then cutting off contact for the last 7 days.

Whatever the outcome, I'll try to make sure that if others come into problems like this that they might have some information to go off instead of just having to take it.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the messages of support.  I really was just hoping to draw some attention to this, to warn others and to get some advice.  But having so many people here post really has been nice to see.  I didn't post anything for the last week as I'm a full time student in the middle of exam period, and also have been waiting to see how my correspondence with Bithumb progresses.  Since I last posted this Bithumb has now completely ignored me for the last 5 or 6 days, even though I've sent through a handful of emails asking them to resolve the situation.

What is even worse, almost to a laughable level if it didn't mean what I know it means, is that 11 hours after I sent the details of the Dash wallet that is containing my "missing" coins, that wallet was emptied!  Bear in mind that for 3 days that wallet had sat without being touched since I made the purchase at their exchange and the account was instantly closed straight after.  Then after 3 days of me trying to get them to explain wtf had happened and reimburse me for the Dash that had been stolen, I went through the Dash blockchain to find the wallet address, provided it to them (because they asked for it and told me that they would get my Dash back if I had the wallet address), and then 11 hours afterwards the wallet which had been quietly sat there for days was then emptied.  Most importantly, since that happened Bithumb has completely 100% ignored my emails, even though before that they were at least sending back half-assed one sentence emails.

I've got the day off from study today, and I want to make all information that I have public here to help other people, and hopefully to cost Bithumb more money than they've stolen from me.  The opportunity to sell BTC at a higher price there and then buy other cryptos is what lured me into this, and I'm guessing that being such a relatively small amount of money and me being in a different country all together has lead to this situation for me.  I can imagine others getting into similar situations at Bithumb and it would be great to know that someone else might not feel like I feel right now by making the same mistake.

Give me a few hours and I'll get everything together and post as much as I can here.  Thanks again for support!

* Because I'm a newbie I have a restriction on posting consecutively and think I have to wait about 6hrs.  Will be posting again as soon as the system allows.
* 12 hours ago I was contacted by someone at Bithumb here through PM.  I will block their email address but post the PM here for transparency.  I have contacted them and am waiting for a reply.

"Hello, joel. This is Bithumb Op-Team.

first We apologize for any inconvenience

what is you bithumb's joines email adress?

please answer about my question.

at (s****[email protected])

Then we will proceed after the verification.

Thank you."

If you have emails and screenshots that can prove your account status, I would get everything together and post the details.
Maybe this will warn other people before they lose money on this site.

I haven't seen or heard this bithumb before. I searched it on google and i found out that it was a cryptocurrency exchange which is Korean based exchange. I really dont know if its legit or not. But if the op did not violate any rules on user agreement. Then the site must be a scam. Try to contact their support regarding to this problem.

bitthump? is it a new exchange? never heard of it, if this is true it sucks, think we all have to be afraid of all the scam sites poping up with the bitcoin surge
I never heard of it either.   First thing I thought of was 'butthump'.  I would entreat OP to produce some proof, else what he has here is just words.  Not that I don't think some unknown place wouldn't scam for $400.

All over $400.  Nice work Bithumb.  If you're going to steal someone's coins at least pick an account with a decent balance. :\
Exchanging their reputation for just $400 is really a dumb decision if OP claims was true then its a warning for us on using their site and what the heck of the amount of $400 it maybe small for some but for me it was already big.Sorry for your lost mate and it seems they would never give it back into you because they are already denying that the account doesnt exist at all.If you can really show proofs on previous communication with the site then that would be a strong evidence.

I'm sorry for your lost as well mate. And thank you for exposing Bithumb as a scam. $400 is a lot of money to me, and if this happened to me, I will not know what to do. I think this should be a lesson learnt not just to you, but I think all of us, specially newbie in general. We need to research and investigate a exchange if they are legit or trusted because otherwise our money will be lost in a instant.

Looks like a scam to me. Please post all relevant information in the Scam Accusation thread so that a lot of people will be reminded not to trust Bithumb. I'm not familiar with them or used them before, but it indeed they scam you then there's no way other members here will fall for them. We don't know if they have a official representative in this forum though.

Sometimes I begin to wonder how someone will put enough effort in designing a website with the sole purpose of scamming anyone who patronise such site. This is a clear case of scam and you should do well in creating a thread there with supporting documents because words alone cannot move things. And if possible find their thread if any on the forum and post there too.

You can post the screenshots in those review forums so that everyone can have a look at it. It'll atleast prevent new users from getting ripped off.

Maybe post this in Exchanges part of forum?
OP's issue is worthy of a scam accusation against the service that's holding OP's funds. I've never heard of Bithumb but holding funds hostage with no good communication sure doesn't serve as a good introduction. Perhaps they'd care about their reputation enough to address OP's issue properly if he were to post a proper report of what is happening.

Yesterday I had an account at Bithumb which had been open for 2 days closed just after I purchased $400 of Dash, locking me out of it, as well as the account being deleted and there being no way to re-access the account.  I lost $400, and although I have sent over 50 emails back and forth with Bithumb, I have not received the Dash back, or had the account reopened.  Bithumb are saying that my account never existed, however I have the registration email from that account, along with another 20 emails that were sent to my email address relating to that account upon withdrawing and selling any currency there.

Anyone who doubts that the validity of this for any reason is welcome to see the emails I have received, and screenshots that I have saved.

I'm putting this here to as for advice, and also to warn others that this has happened to me.  The higher sale value of Bitcoin at Bithumb has proven to be the thing that lead to me losing money yesterday.  I'm glad I only lost $400 worth of Dash and not the kind of money that a lot of others trade each day.

I'm hoping that there is some positive resolution to this, although at the moment it's looking like I have just been ripped off.  I'm still speaking with Bithumb, but am being told that an account that I obviously know did exist didn't exist.. along with the $400 of crypto that was sat in that account.
