If you decided to go through with deleting your account and the Moderators are able to facilitate it, someone else can sign up with the deleted details and can impersonate you. It is better to just abandon the account and delete all your posts.

Moderation won't facilitate deleting accounts. It's possible to nuke users but that deletes their posts and only for newbies and It's also not on request, it's when someone breaks the rules.

I thought so too, my point was that there's no reasonable logic behind deleting an account, when it can fall in the wrong hand and cause a greater harm.

No longer possible as what others said.

Just to add the reason why theymos stop deleting accounts
I'd like theymos' statement on this rather than speculations.
Judging by other threads here, and looking at the help section, it should be technically possible. Heck over at Litecointalk you can do it yourself, and it looks like the same forum software.
We don't delete accounts anymore, because it is quite a bit of work. Before an account is deleted, theymos has to do at least the following:
1) Make sure that the account wasn't hacked.
2) Check for any existing scam accusations against the person.
3) Check their outbound PMs for scammy behavior.

This is a long, painful process, so theymos just doesn't do it anymore.

If you're just on the early years of this forum, then it might be possible to delete your account but as of now, like what they have said, it's quite impossible for the reason the deletion of account can be abused for the reason that if user have commited crime they will sure can easily let it slip, and no evidences will be found.

So the admins decided to stop this kind of function. All of the accounts should live even if the owners has been banned from using it, it's also for the sake of the future, we can get a hold of referrences.

So if you feel like leaving, then fine, leave. You can just abandon your account just like hilariousandco have said before.

I have not come across any options that states categorically delete account option.
And in my own opinion there should be none but you can take a break from the account

What came to your mind and thought of wanting to delete your account? likewise, there's no way to delete your account on your own.

You're inactive for many months so why not just leave the forum? or don't log in? and you just came suddenly asking about account deletion. Bitcointalk isn't like other social media platforms that has an option to delete or deactivate accounts.

All those thinking my second suggestion isn't the best option should note bitcointalk isn't the only cryptocurrency forum we have. And sometimes getting off social media is the solution to most of our problem.

From how OP wrote his topic, I suspected he is feed up with the forum and what to leave for good so I gave him the best option so he won't come back.

Why the effort to get yourself in "trouble" when all it takes is just to logoff and create a new account?
I do not think the OP wants to abandon this account for another,i think he or she wants to leave the forum for good,as I cannot see any red tag or taint on this account,so probably no reason to ditch it for another.
But in case the OP is not aware, you can operate on as many accounts as possible if you so wish.
And if you really want "delete" your account, there is no way to do so other than forfeiting such account for good.

Second option: Get yourself banned.
He must do a grave violation first and report to the plagiarism report thread. This way he/she can get ban in the forum. But, I do not think this appropriate. Getting ban is different from account deletion.

If you decide to go with this and you get a permanent ban, know that making another account in the future is considered as ban evasion and that's against the rules.
So, this should not be an option for OP to ask for a deletion of an account.

OP, there is no way to delete your account. There is still no feature for it develop by theymos. I think he made this obviously so that all data will be recorded in their site. Anyway, you do not need to worry about your account when you can just leave it behind.

It does not have any good solution if you want to do with Red Trust so that your account does not use any other, there is no other way than this.

There's no option to delete your account from the system even the mods can't help you.  the only option is to abandon it and move on.
It's not possible. Just abandon it.

Do this: if you want your record to non exist on forum, Delete all the deletable post and edit the non deletable ones to trash and move them to archive board. Then change your password to something you can't remember, also change your email to an invalid email then abandon your account. That way you can't reactive your account and it'll be forgotten.

Second option: Get yourself banned.
