--  Recovering accounts is the least priority on the forum.Yes,even if you have submitted the proof of staked address by signing messages to theymos/Cyrus,they don't guarantee they will recover your accounts any faster. If you look at the stats, the only accounts that get recovered on the priority basis are the ones that actually matter. Also refrain from sending multiple messages to theymos/Cyrus as it doesn't make the process any faster.

Thanks for the reply but if you confirm by signed msg then why would they need to check if you are worthy or not? you have proved ownership and it should be a simple process to move on from there.

"ones that actually matter" is subjective and it matters to me that someone can hack this site yet the site is not prepared to recover it for you.

I accept these people are busy and i expect there are a large amount of accounts to get through.
Upping the security on the site and implementing 2FA would make this a much better and stop things like this happening?

Anyway i will continue to wait i guess.

Did you send to cyrus? You're unlikely to get a response from theymos. If you post the signed message here I can ban the account but not restore access to it.

I have a question is it possible to change the email to your account? Or it can only be done by hackers? Or you will need to asked theymos to change the email?

Edit sorry for this question already know how soryry this is very nood of me.

If you are in the actual account settings you will be able to do it. If it has been hacked and you are no longer owning the account, only theymos can change it for you. :-/

Yep. Seems to be a trend here recently. I had the exact same thing happen to me (discovered yesterday). I seriously doubt my account was specifically hacked - seems more like a database hack or something (but I don't really know - I just know my password was strong).

Password strength doesn't meaning anything for an accounts, since hackers don't crack via password, but rather via .php or sql injections. They write a script to the database that makes it spit out the password to that account, regardless of what it may be. Even if it is very long you will still be able to crack it in the same amount of time as if it had been a much weaker password. (I think this is how it is done, however I may be wrong). The capctha authentication and 45 second time-out makes it nearly impossible to hack via password.

Hi,
i am a long time member of bitcointalk, i joined about 4 years ago when i first started getting into GPU mining and crypto.

My account is https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/boy2k-190148

I tried to log in on the 25th but the password had been changed... I tried to reset the password but my email has also been changed.
I cannot sign a message as they have added a deeponion address to my profile and they are now posting from my account about it.

I have reached out to theymos but i have not had a reply.

I would really appreciate it if someone could reset it for me as I'm not happy about someone using my reputation to fool other people online. I can see no other reason why this person would continue to post under my name other than to use it to scam and fool people. I am not comfortable with this at all.

grrrr

You should be comfortable to start a new carrier in bitcointalk because you will never get your account back. Theymos may ban the hacker to post with your account (after verify the owner) but he can't help you get your account/email back. If you can't take responsibility of your own email then you are not able to hold bitcoin or any other crypto so it's better you hold your funds in a bank. Bitcoin is not for noobs  Smiley

Thanks for your constructive post, very helpful.

Now if you could go back and READ it you will see my email address was changed on the account.. OH so nothing to do with being a noob... if it makes you feel like a hero then well done, i hope it made you feel brave attacking someone who was asking for some help.

Also, if you can take time away from being the hard man behind your keyboard, you will notice i am more concerned with it being used to scam people. Please in future if you have nothing constructive to say please do everyone a favour and turn your attention to reading, you need some help in that department.

lol noob.. your account is younger than mine...
