I like the idea of paying to get my account back. What should I offer and how so I don't get screwed?  Undecided

Did you post the address anywhere? Ones in profiles likely won't be accepted.
I see it was posted here in July 2016 (archived):
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.15553952
The address was staked with the signed message, which was also quoted right after the post:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.26238674

Hope the hacked account will be recovered soon.

You still could not recover your old account even though you had very clear evidence?
~

This is a big concern.

I think it has been taking a long time lately, it has to be done manually.. I don't think I noticed an "I got my account back" post in a while..

I think if you get your account hacked the best first way to try to get it back would be to just PM it.. Maybe you can reason with whoever has it first before going through all of these formalities you see here and praying for it back..

Just tell him.. "Look guy, I can sign this old address xxxxx so you are forked. It's going to be of no use to you red tagged so I would really appreciate it if you would just give it back to me"..

I think they are more after long dormant accounts that they can actually use/sell without them being noticed.. I don't think they are trying to snatch currently active accounts because they won't last long after they are noticed.. The account really won't be any good to them so they might just give it back..
I don't think the hacker going give it back so easily since they already changed email and password, if they want give it back they will ask something for them (BTC or something)
They won't mind if one of hacked account got noticed , they can hack another account easily.

Maybe the better solution is give global moderator authority to recovery account so it won't take forever to recovery a account

can admin unlock my account and change the email to the previous one?
Verified and archived the address on your profile.

This is a big concern.
Recovering accounts takes time, why? Your not the only one that had account problems even if you have good proof or evidence to show that it's yours. Better wait and read more replies to this topic to get more information to those who undergo same problem and process your facing. More like tips in short.

I know posting an address only in the profile is the worst idea as a hacker can easily remove it.
But if the address is still there like in this case I don't see why it shouldn't be accepted.

Well I agree as long as it's staked elsewhere, but it's theymos and cyrus that need to accept it. Even accounts with messages signed from addresses staked in 2014 don't seem to be getting restored right now.

Posting it here, won't be enough. Did you send a PM to Cyrus? If not, then follow this thread.

Since account recoveries aren't that much of a priority to "Admins", be prepared to wait for a long time.
yes, i already PM Cyrus and theymos. I only hope Cyrus become more active recorvering account like back day

Your active account is only a couple weeks old.   Forget about it and create a new one.
its annoying raise brand new account to Sr.member, it'll consume a lot of my time again
